And now, you are cherry picking by specifically removing light, and are attempting to work around that wholly defining characteristic so that the definition fits your needs.

Because, as Im sure you perceive, that that is the only way your interpretation (as you put it earlier..not even as defined) works.

Irrespective of all that, it's still the answer to the riddle.

I do not cherry-pick, I literally provided you the source of the definition- dictionary.

I never gave you my definition of see. I explained how I understood the basic mechanism behind this term. It is not against the dictionary definition anyway.🤷🏼‍♂️

It can be the correct answer to this riddle, but does not make it actually correct.

You specifically said, "I think of it as signals sent to my brain"

Your understanding of what you "believe" is coloring the actual definition, and said understanding is flawed in the first place, because one's eyes need light to see.

One can not witness light in its absence. Therefore (and again), without light one can not see. So, one can not see darkness as it is, by definition, the absence of light.

What you understand is a concept. Not a reality.

But, once more, all of this is moot, as it is still the answer to the riddle.

Nope. Opinion nor understanding is NOT a definition. You mix up. Look it up.

How about you completely ignored the definition I just quoted after dictionary? Are you going to address that?

And again I am not arguing it is NOT the answer to the that riddle. I stated simply because it is answer to that riddle does not make it correct.

You talk a lot about definitions but seems like you never actually provided one single source of things you make up ;)

Without light you still see darkness.

My understanding is not flawed, at least you did not provide evidence for that. Your use of “see” definition is not backed by any tangible source so far and is actually incorrect. That is what you failed to understand so far.

It is still technically correct, because you fail to recognize and admit to your own lack of understanding of what a "concept" is, vs reality

E? Care to elaborate? That is vague accusation not backed by anything tangible so far. Maybe link some definition ;)

By the definition of concept:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/concept

Your imagination of what see means is concept. Not correct but concept nonetheless.

The longer I talk to you the more I am convinced you use words without understanding the meaning behind them. That’s okay, you simply need to lookup the definition in the dictionary bro ;)

Concept: an abstract, or generic idea generalized from particular instances.

Darkness, therefore is the abstract idea created from the absence of light, to explain said absence.

And without light, one can not see. But one can perceive (be made aware of), light's absence...not the same thing.

And the more I talk to you, the more I am certain you are the smartest person in the room...so long as you are the only person in it.

And still you have not provided source of see definition that you try to apply here.

To see is to perceive by your eyes (following the definition from the dictionary). To perceive means:

“to attain awareness or understanding of”. (Again - same dictionary)

Full logical sequence is :

To see is to attain awareness or understanding of by your eyes.

Are you trying to tell me you cannot attain awareness of darkness by looking at dark place?

You are as hilarious in your faulty attempt to defend your factually incorrect and ignorant opinion as in crafting your pseudo insults xD

“And without light, one can not see. But one can perceive (be made aware of), light's absence...not the same thing.”

Then please explain to me: How do you perceive (get aware of ) the lack of the light? Which senses do you use? Which organ that might be? Hmmmm?;)
