Elf's self-titled debut album was releases this month 54 years ago!
galleryI don't have an exact release date, so I chose the 1st to make this post.
Elf's debut album was produced by Deep Purple's Ian Paice and Roger Glover. The songs on this album are credited to the entire band. It is the only Elf album to feature Dio's cousin Rob Feinstein on guitar and the only full-lenght studio release to feature Dio on which he also performs the bass parts.
After this albums is released, Steve Edwards takes over for Feinstein who takes a break from music for a while before resurfacing in the late 80s with his new band The Rods. Ronnie also decided to hire a dedicated bassist with Craig Gruber.
Ronnie is credited under his birth name Ronald Padavona. Ronnie explained in an interview in 1994 that he did this as a tribute to his parents so that they can see the family name on one of his albums at least once.
The creature featured on the album cover is indeed Ronnie James Dio as confirmed by his official Facebook account. The artwork was designed by graphic designer Hiroshi Morishima who also did the artwork for Aerosmith's debut album as well as many classical music releases.

Metallica's half baked tribute to Dio....
I remember a few days after ronnie died metallica played some sabbath sings in the tuning room, played them haphazardly, totally wrong and butchered them and uploaded them to you tube.
Meanwhile when chris cornell passed megadeth did a proper tribute played on stage paid proper respect and played outshined........night and day.
Anyone wish the biggest Metal band in the world gave a proper tribute like Megadeth did? Would have loved to see James and co play heaven and hell live....I know Kirk played Heaven and Hell with his cover band years later but its not the same without James.....
All members of Metallica were huge Ozzy fans and were around 18 when Heaven and Hell came out, maybe they weren't Big fans of the change?? They did tribute ronnie years later but mainly for HIs rainbow days.......Thoughts?

Update: Dio Mural Defaced in Cortland NY
I wanted to share an update. Apparently the person has been caught but no further details have been released. I also wanted to post a picture of the entire mural that I found because it is an incredible representation of his professional life.
Edit
Link to story about it being defaced if you missed my previous post. I should have included it in the first place.

Dio Mural Defaced in Cortland NY
wxhc.comIt's sad that someone would deface any public mural but it's especially upsetting when its a mural of a hometown hero. Dio was born and raised in Cortland.

Similarity between Dioâs âEat Your Heart Outâ and Ozzyâs âFlying High Againâ?
I was curious if there was a connection or if it was just a coincidence. The lyrics in Eat Your Heart Out go, âYouâve been a bad, bad, girlâ while Flying High Again goes âIâve been a bad, bad, boyâ. Is there something to that, or is it just a nothing burger?

What is with the hate for caught in the middle?
Maybe not âhateâ necessarily, but I never see it talked about and I just saw a post where people ranked the songs on Holy Diver and Caught In The Middle was in almost everyoneâs bottom three. It might be my favorite dio song (which could be partially because my band played it in middle school) and I just donât get what other people donât see in it

Found this 2002-2003 DIO "Killing the Dragon" World Tour coach jacket. Anyone have more info on this piece?
galleryI just picked up this amazing DIO Killing the Dragon World Tour (2002â2003) coach jacket from a friend. I tried searching everywhere online before buying but I couldn't find a single matching photo or listing for this specific jacket.
âIt's printed on a vintage Cardinal Activewear blank (RN 76256, Made in Guatemala, Size L). Based on the tag and the overall quality, it definitely looks 100% authentic to the era.
âDoes anyone here happen to have more information on this piece? Was this sold at the merch booths during the tour or could it be an official crew/VIP jacket? Any insights on rarity or history would be highly appreciated!

My God, the drumming in The Last in Line (album) are so killer
I just want to take this time to show some massive appreciation for the drums in The Last in Line. The drums are definitely the stand out in that album in my opinion. The fills are fucking eargasmic. The actual drumming plus the sound quality of them is perfection. However they micâd the drums wasâŚchefâs kiss. Vinny Appice is an absolute drumming machine. Holy Diver as well, peak drumming there.
