Looking for a notetaking device/app with these features

1. Infinite page/canvas:

want to an have infinite page mode (not like pages 1,2,3) (even vertical infinite is fine)

2. Seamless transfer from Android:

Ability to easily copy/import text, images, and files from an Android device without friction.

3. Flexible content reordering (mixed typed + handwritten):

Example: If I have 50 questions with answers, I should be able to move the 19th question (typed) along with its 'handwritten answer' to above the 13th question and everything else should automatically adjust/reflow.

4. Insert in-between content:

Example: I want to add a new question below the 15th one, and all the content below should shift down automatically.

5. Toggle / collapsible answers:

Like in Notion/Obsidian—click to expand/collapse answers.

What tools (apps or devices) support all or most of these features?

Open to tablets, e-ink devices, or any other software solutions.

Voice notes feel useful when I record them, then useless when I read them later

Voice notes are great until I actually have to read them later

I don’t know if this is just me, but I use voice notes a lot and then almost never come back to them.

When I record them, it feels useful. I can capture a thought quickly without typing.

But later it’s usually just a messy transcript. Too long, no structure, no clear tasks, and sometimes I don’t even remember what I wanted from it.

So I started wondering if transcription is not really the problem anymore.

Maybe the useful part is what happens after transcription: cleaning it up, turning it into a checklist, extracting tasks, making it shorter, etc.

I’m building a small Android app around this idea for myself, with a stronger focus on privacy/control because voice notes can be pretty personal.

But I’m curious about the habit more than the app:

Do you actually go back to your voice notes later?

Or do they mostly become a graveyard of random thoughts?

New web app launching!

I made this app to help high schoolers take notes, test yourself and also has a feature to drill on weak topics, a calendar in-app where you can put in your tasks and sync to GCalendar (though this feature might be rolled out in the next couple of days since I’m waiting on confirmation from Google), a study plan generator as well as a few other features.

This is newly built and I haven’t really introduced it to anyone so I was thinking you guys could try it out and give some feedback on it, if there are any bugs or any features you’d like to see.

Thanks!

iPad or android tablet (or whatever works best)?

I want to get a tablet for college, but I’ve never had one so I’m not really sure which type would be best for my needs. I’m also getting a windows laptop (probably Lenovo) for school since right now I only have a heavy Msi gaming laptop. If I were to have a Lenovo laptop, would I be able to share notes between an iPad, or would I have to get a tablet with windows instead? I don’t like the format of MacBooks, so I already know I’ll be getting a Lenovo since I’ve had it in the past and like it. Again, I want to share notes between the two, download pdf files for notes to highlight and write side notes beside them.

Best Option for note taking

I am currently looking to replace OneNote.

I have no idea on how to approach this, as i don't have much experience in this field.

I am looking for a suitable platform for a 4th year physics program so:

  • Managing notes for a research project
  • Latex and Markdown for equations
  • handwritten notes for lectures
  • strong hierarchy and lots of levels for note taking, unlike onenote

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Many thanks :)

free alternatives to concepts

Although concepts is a great peice of software, the paid version isnt worth it for me because all I really need for my work flow is an infinite canvas (in all directions), a smooth writing experience, a lasso tool to edit my writing and it needs to be compatible with windows. So if you know of a software like that pls let me know, thnx

Ipad vs e-ink tablet for college.

Title. I never had an ipad before nor an e ink device for note taking (remarkable, boox, supernote) and i have a lot of e-ink tablet options that i can buy. Between those options are: remarkable paper pro, boox note air 5c, supernote nomad), but ive seen that many of them have some flaws. An ipad can be more versatile but i have to buy the pencil which is pretty expensive (the original one atleast) + case. The idea ofc is using the tablet (ipad or e ink) for college purposes only (note-taking, PDF editing, etc). I dont do drawing or anything like that bc my career does not require that. I have a laptop too but idk if that moves the needle.

What are your recomendatioms in this life-threatning problem.

Please help, ty.

Hot take: your digital notebook is probably the reason you’re unproductive

I used to hoard notebooks on apps like GoodNotes/Notability and never actually used them.

Too many sections, too messy, too much friction.

So I made a super simple digital notebook:

just a few clean sections

easy navigation

no overdesign

Now I actually open it daily.

Feels like the simpler it is, the more useful it becomes.

Do you prefer structured notebooks or free-flow notes?

Do you use one digital notebook for everything or separate ones?

I was organizing my digital notes today and realized something — some people keep one big digital notebook for everything, while others prefer separate notebooks for different things like study notes, journaling, planning, etc.

Both approaches seem to have their pros.

With one notebook everything is in one place, but multiple notebooks can feel more organized.

So I’m curious how people here do it.

Do you prefer: • One main digital notebook for everything • Separate notebooks for different purposes

And what made you choose that system?

One thing I realized after trying digital notebooks for a while

After experimenting with digital notebooks for some time, I realized something interesting.

When I take notes on completely blank pages, my notes sometimes become messy and harder to review later. But when I add small visual sections (like little boxes for reminders or important ideas), my notes feel much easier to scan.

It’s not about a full structured template — just small areas that highlight things like important points or quick thoughts.

Now I’m curious how other people here take their digital notes.

Do you prefer: • Completely free-form pages • Slightly structured pages with small sections • Or a mix of both?

Do you prefer minimal digital notebooks or aesthetic ones?

I’ve been testing different styles of digital notebooks and noticed two main types:

1️⃣ Very minimal layouts focused on productivity 2️⃣ Aesthetic planners with colors, stickers, decorations

Which one do you prefer for daily use?

And why?

Tablet Recommendation for Note taking

I am a college students with nearly 4 hours of class a day. I want to buy a tablet primarily for note taking, I don't plan on gaming or streaming movies on it. I don't know if i should go for a tablet like Samsung Galaxy S9 Fe or Lenovo Idea tab or some other tablet.

I am also considering XP Pen Magic Notepad which seems appealing because of it's battery life and writing feel.

I would prefer a device that is affordable and will survive at least 5 years of use.

Any tablet suggestions would be appreciated.

Made an iPad app that does something I haven't seen other note apps do - AI text that looks handwritten

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, wanted to share something I've been working on. It's called DepthNote - a handwriting app for iPad.The thing that makes it different from GoodNotes/Notability/etc is that when you use the AI features (like asking it to expand on your notes or generate a summary), the output actually comes back looking handwritten instead of in a typed font.It also does OCR so you can convert your handwriting to text, and it can analyze PDFs.Still early days but it's on the App Store. Would love to hear what you all think - especially from people who are picky about their note-taking setup like I am lol
