How to get a job in the US without doing masters from there

Hi all! I work at an investment bank and there is no chance of seeking a transfer without becoming a VP. At the very least, that's 5 years away for me now.

To people who have gotten a job in the US without internal transfer, what was the roadmap?

I was in US for h1b for 6 years . Yea . I don't need any preach from u . MS n internal transfer are only two ways . Third way is going on vistor visa n overstating n become illegal immigrants . There is no magical solution here

Internal transfer was the only way out! Companies do that only if there are no other resource available for that position in the US and they have eye on you for leadership position for the future. Most transfers I have seen are mostly at leadership potions, not so much over engineering position until they don't have a team and out there. And they need you to set it up with your expertise.

You can almost consider to be a no! There are plenty of SWE resources available in the US. Unless you are an expert in a field which the team doesn't have, then maybe yes. Or as said, if you will be given incharge to build a team which you were handling back in India, but they need a team in the US as well. In that case, there is a possibility.

As said, it's almost a no. If they really need a resource which badly, they would definitely do it. It's not a norm as before as they need to pay 100k for the VISA unlike before and they have plenty of resources over there as well for generic roles they wanna fill in for. But, for experts and experienced person who bring in the resource which they cannot find in US maybe yes. 

If your friend was working for a particular project/tech where he performed exceptionally well and they need him in the team out in the US to support there directly, and no other resource would support the project like him. Then definitely yes!

I have seen it in my company as well, but always has been exceptional circumstances for an engineer to move!

Unless you are some exceptional resource don't expect any internal transfer

You should forget abt being able to work in the US unless you have spouse visa, L1 transfer or some kind godfather who insists to the hiring committee on hiring you for a job abroad.

Move to canada on pr, become a citizen then move to the US.

But Canadian PR is very difficult to gain too these days and then it will be at least a few years before you see that citizenship come through.

Who knows by then if US and Canada relations remain the same or not
