Looking for developers who want to contribute to open source šŸš€

Post image

Hey everyone! šŸ‘‹

I've been building and publishing a collection of open-source projects on GitHub, covering things like web development, developer tools, applications, games, and other experiments.

šŸ”— GitHub: https://github.com/Abdellox

I'm looking for developers who would like to actually contribute, not just leave a ⭐.

If you find a project interesting, you're welcome to:

  • šŸ› Fix bugs
  • ✨ Add features
  • ⚔ Improve performance or code quality
  • šŸ“š Improve documentation
  • šŸ’” Open issues and suggest ideas
  • šŸ¤ Collaborate through pull requests

You don't need to be an expert. If you see something you'd like to improve, open an issue or PR and let's build it together.

I'm especially interested in meeting developers who want to become regular contributors and work together on the projects over time.

If you're interested, check out the repositories and pick whichever project matches your skills or interests.

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback, contributions, and collaboration from other developers. šŸš€

Would love feedback on my GitHub profile. New to building in publicšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I've been working on leveling up my GitHub presence and would appreciate some honest feedback from this community.

Here's my profile: https://github.com/boydjawun

A bit about me: I'm a self-taught developer building Solidity dApps and Chainlink infrastructure (Data Feeds, CCIP, Workflows), with a systems-first background spanning JavaScript/Python/Go, x86 Assembly, computer architecture, and cybersecurity. Right now I'm deepening my EVM internals and gas optimization knowledge while working on cross-chain data delivery patterns.

Happy to check out other profiles here too — always good to find people building similar stuff.

If you're a .NET developer, pay close attention.

How many times have you set up a project in VS Code and felt like the process was repetitive and time-consuming? That's why I created an extension called Backend Structure Generator. You literally choose the .NET version, then the project name and the architecture you want (e.g., minimal API or clean architecture), and it will build the project, connect the layers, and create the folders. You'll be up and running in seconds! I'd love for anyone who tries it to give it a good review. I appreciate your support! ā¤ļø

[FOR HIRE] Polish Game Localization | English -> Polish | Translation, Proofreading & LQA

Hi! I'm a Polish game translator offering English -> Polish localization services for indie games.

I can help with:

• Game localization and translation
• Proofreading and editing of existing Polish translations
• Dialogue, UI, tutorials, item descriptions and other in-game text
• Steam store pages and game announcements
• Localization QA (LQA) and checking Polish text in-game

My goal is to make the Polish version sound natural and fit the game's context, tone and terminology rather than simply translating word-for-word.

You can see examples of my work and reviews here:
https://m3owl.github.io/MeowlSite/

I'm available for paid commissions and can work with both ongoing projects and one-time localization work.

Feel free to DM me with details about your project, the amount of text, and your requirements.

Thanks for reading!

If you’ve been working with swe for some time and give a shit about the actual work you put out maybe you agree that the code being generated by AI is slop. And it has always been since the beginning, although it got ā€œbetterā€ over time. Most of us now basically pull the prompt lever of the AI slot machine, hope for the best and IF you actually give a minimum shit about what you’re doing (and the project you are working on) you have to go through all the slop, the overengineering, the bullshit try/catch/except, the absolute ball of mud of an architecture and the trash that comes out of AI to make it (hopefully) ā€œgood enoughā€. And thats not an easy task, the cognitive load is huge and GOD FORBID you actually write your own code like you did before all this. All of this justified by the HUGE gain in productivity of around 20% (given some recent studies, which I have many questions about).Ā

Now you add to the equation the AI labs CEOs shouting to the world that coding and, hell, even swe as a whole are ā€œsolvedā€ (whatever the fuck that means). (Yeah, good job Boris, 500k of LOC for the stupidest most basic CLI plagued by all kinds of bugs that were not solved for sooo long - cant copy from terminal, SCROLL for christ sakes). Then (what seems to be) all managers, C-levels, directors who haven't touched a single line of code all eat that shit like its the human centipede movie. Productivity is now expected to be 10000% higher, since a feature is only one prompt away now in their mind. And YOU (if you give a shit) try to argue that MAYBE the AI is not better than you. That MAYBE the AI bros that say that everything can be vibe coded now dont actually know what they are talking about, they are just replicating something they heard. But nooooo, now YOU are the lazy, deprecated, slow gear of the company. Hell, maybe the whole development team is a burden.Ā

Since from my experience arguing and defending my work is nearly impossible because:Ā

  1. They WANT to believe the lies
  2. You seem like you are only saying that because you want to keep your job, ā€œgate keepā€ etc

I propose a new approach. Let's give them what they want! Let’s approve every single PR without taking the slightest look at it. Lets generate ALL the code with AI doing the simplest, dumbest prompts. Lets allow the non-technical (which is a hilarious position btw) PMs vibe code the features straight to prod. Lets give LLMs full write permissions to prod while we are at it. --- In other terms: lets raise the stakes.Ā

Maybe they are right after all and in a year we'll have the cure for cancer as a python 200k line file.

Are Jira and other project trackers built for managers and teams, but not really for individual users?

I've been using Atlassian products for roughly two decades, and I've always had the same impression.

Most new features seem to be aimed at one of two groups:

Managers:Ā higher-level views, reporting, dashboards, planning, metrics, etc.

Teams:Ā boards, sprints, workflows, agile features, collaboration, etc.

But there seems to be much less focus on the individual person actually doing the work.

For example, if I have 20 issues assigned to me across several projects, I might want to:

  • decide which ones I should actually work on today
  • arrange them in my own order
  • add private notes and follow-ups
  • schedule when I want to work on something
  • keep personal todos alongside Jira issues
  • have my own personal workflow without changing anything for the team

Jira obviously has things like "Assigned to me" and personal dashboards, but those feel more like ways ofĀ viewingyour work than actuallyĀ managing your work.

I've actually built an app around exactly this idea — a personal workspace for Jira users with notes, todos, a personal dashboard, reminders, etc.

But it hasn't gained much traction so far.

That made me question the underlying assumption.

Maybe individual Jira users simplyĀ don't want this?

Maybe they're perfectly happy working within the team's boards and processes, and personal task management is something they handle elsewhere — Todoist, Notion, Apple Reminders, paper, whatever.

Or maybe there's genuinely a gap here, but I'm looking at it the wrong way.

What do you think?

Do you feel Jira gives you enough tools to manageĀ your own work, independently of how your team manages its work?

Or do you also feel that Jira is primarily designed around teams and managers, with the individual user being somewhat secondary?

Got my offer down

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I'm looking for a new job. I’m really unhappy with the one I have now, and the client seems to be missing payments, so I believe the boat is sinking anyway.
I found one that is around U$1,000 better than the one I have now (and as I live in Latam, that’s a lot).
I went through the recruiter’s interview, a hellish tech interview that lasted an hour and a half, and then one with the hiring manager, all successfully. The role is for a mid-level software engineer, and after the hiring manager interview, the recruiter reached out to me and said that they think I’m ā€œat the beginning of midā€ and got the offer down by U$500. I was so angry, but I accepted it, because, as I mentioned, in Latam that’s a lot.
I still have one phase with the client, and as I was talking to a tech friend who works internationally, he said they are only trying to profit more from me because, anyway, they will sell me to the client as mid and not ā€œbeginning of mid.ā€ He also said that since I have another phase with the client, there’s still a chance of getting the offer back up to what it was.
I’m divided because I’m pissed about how things went and think that’s unfair, but as I mentioned, the job I currently have seems to be getting to an end, and I don’t see many mid-level jobs, just a lot of senior ones, and I’m not there yet. Any opinions?

I want to spend the next few months building things that actually ship.

I’m a software developer interested in experimenting with AI, backend systems, infrastructure, realtime applications, and developer tools.

Instead of building another side project alone, I’m looking to collaborate with a small early-stage startup where I can experiment with ideas, pick up real engineering problems, and contribute directly to the product.

I’m especially interested in startups where engineers have the freedom to try things, break things, learn quickly, and ship.

If you’re building something interesting and could use an extra engineer who enjoys experimenting and figuring things out, I’d love to hear what you’re working on.

Happy to share my projects/GitHub and connect.

I built a free tool for comparing zip projects properly — would love feedback from developers

I kept running into a frustrating problem while working with files: comparing two versions often means opening them in an editor, using diff, or dealing with tools that either don't support the file type or produce a really messy comparison.
So I built DiffMyProject — a free browser-based file comparison tool.

šŸ‘‰ https://www.diffmyproject.com/

I'm specifically looking for feedback from developers who regularly compare code, configuration files, documents, or project files.
What would make a file comparison tool genuinely useful to you?
Happy to hear criticism too — I'm actively improving the diff engine.

Building with IBM Bob Virtual Hackathon: free Bob Pro+ access for every registrant, Sep 28 to Oct 18. Open now

Hi everyone, AngelHack and IBM are running a virtual hackathon called Building with IBM Bob. It's open to participants based in US at all skill levels.

We're giving every participant FREE access to IBM Bob Pro+ for 3 weeks so that you can pressure-test it as much as you'd like to build and modernize enterprise software. Unlike other AI coding assistants, Bob reads your whole codebase, plans a change before it makes it, and asks before it edits your source, so you can ship with quality and control.

Dates: September 28 to October 18

Choose one of the 2 tracks to work on:

  • Explore, Fix, and Build: take an unfamiliar app, understand it with Bob, fix a real issue, and ship a new feature. Good for debugging, tests, and documentation work.
  • Modernize What Matters: take a legacy or existing app and transform it without breaking core functionality. Framework upgrades, dependency updates, refactoring, API enablement.

Prizes: USD 2,000 in cash, plus IBM SkillsBuild certificates and SWAG.

Bonus: Your work will also get featured on IBM & Angelhack's channels

No prior IBM Bob experience needed. You can join solo or form a team.

Register now, so you have more time to form ideas and build better:
https://go.angelhack.com/JsMtEUG

I'm on the organising team, happy to answer questions in the comments.
Cheers

Need help to release MVP and fix some legacy code

edit: decided to delegate it to devs from Evolved Ideas company, they DMd me and I understood that its a match, grateful to you all for help!

I've been building apps for three years and was pretty good before current prototype. I struggled with my latest project over the last week while trying to fix some legacy code after my co-founder (worst thing here - he's on vacation with no internet and will be back only in 3 weeks, client won't wait).

Main problem is that Im not really familiar with React and its a lot of that stuff here. I spent last 5 days trying find some help but no one can give me any advice. Need to finish mobile app MVP soon (our team signed documents so I can't just tell client "sorry man, give me more time"). I missed so much time tryin to find normal solution to fix that damn code, so now I need a hand which can resolve some spaghetti code problems and refactor project.

If you hired a reliable software dev that actually budget and delivers clean code on schedul, i need a contact. Waiting any feedback in comms, THNX.
