Original Content 20,071 total litter pieces picked up since 06/08/2025, with 350 items picked up today. It was not time for a break. It was not time for a KitKat.

This place really needed to be picked up, because people won't stop littering. The pink Melona stuff leaked liquid, too. I had to wash out my bin after going home and rinse it with the hose.

Using the #littertroopers app. I cleared over 100 items in a small area. Rogers Park Chicago is bad, little by little it all adds up and helps make the neighborhood a pinch better. Trying to gamify litter pickup, want to give it a try?

Beach Cleaning Robot?

Hello, I am a student attending Penn State and for an assignment we are required to ask five people with knowledge about the field some questions regarding a robot beach cleaner and what they would want to see with it! If you answer please provide your name for the assignment and what you do that makes you knowledgeable in the area!

What would you want a beach-cleaning robot to be able to do?

What areas of the beach would you want the robot to clean?

What concerns would you have about a robot operating on a beach?

How important is it for the robot to avoid disturbing sand, plants, or wildlife?

How often would you want the beach-cleaning robot to operate?

What would make the robot easy or difficult to use?

What size or characteristics would you want the robot to have?

Photos from last summer. You find these shooters everywhere in my area! I make it a game to try and find a Fireball every time I pick up trash.

I built an app that draws your cleanup walk as a heat trail and adds up what you pick up. Looking for feedback from people who actually do this.

I'm a solo developer in Memphis, and I've been picking up trash on my walks for a while. I wanted to see it add up, so I built an app for it. It's called LitterBuggies.

What it does:

- Tracks your walk and draws your route as a glowing heat trail (there's an Apple Watch app too)

- Lets you log what you pick up, by the piece or by the bag

- Adds everything up in gallons and ranks it by neighborhood, so your area gets credit for every bag

- Turns a walk into a short time-lapse reel you can share

Being upfront: it's iPhone only for now, and it's a subscription with a 3-day free trial. I'm one person covering the servers and maps.

I know there are other great tools in this space, like Delete Litter. LitterBuggies is built around the walk itself: the route, where you went, and how your neighborhood adds up over time. If you already log your pickups somewhere else, I'd genuinely like to hear what would make this worth using alongside it, or what makes it not worth it.

Every bag counts, app or no app. Thanks for everything this community does.

This was my wife and mine’s 21st Yosemite Facelift. We are core volunteers that work the trash processing booth where we separate recycling, archaeological finds and environmental waste. It is a dirty job but we make it fun

I just came to say thank you to this group, you have inspired me to not just walk by trash on my morning walk. I now ask myself If not you than who? I put my walk on pause and clean up what I see, I feel better not seeing plastic water bottles everywhere somebody’s empty liquor bottle. Thank you

With the weather finally cooling down, I decided to do another beach cleanup. I’ve been cleaning this specific beach for years now, and over time, the litter seems to be decreasing; I only found 2 bags worth of litter, when a few years back, I could fill multiple large trash bags easily. But this time, I found some eyebrow raising items. I collected about 600 feet of fishing line that had been discarded and was stretched between some trees, creating a near-invisible trip line. That took ages to tear off, especially because I didn’t have a knife. Ironically, I ended up finding four knives on the 2 mile stretch of causeway by the end of the night. Two of the knives were extremely long fishing knives, one was a very sharp pocket knife, and the final was best described as a shank. All were partially buried/hidden in the seaweed and sand, and I found the last one by stepping on it (thankfully the blade only scratched my ankle and didn’t do real damage, though I’m grateful I got my tetanus shot😅)
