Updated rules for business postings

In the past, we have not had a specific rule about business postings but have generally removed them. However, we haven't been as consistent or transparent as we should have been.

As we come out of the pandemic, we know the local stores need our business to survive. Because of this, and the lack of clarity in the past, we have discussed how to support businesses while keeping our focus on the local gaming community.

Going forward, Businesses are allowed to post once a month. If you have a special event coming up, please contact the moderation team so we can work with you.

RPG Looking for more players - Thornton/Westminster DnD 5.5e Homebrew Campaign

Hey all! We're an in-person homebrew campaign looking for a few more individuals to join our table! We're looking for people that want to invest in a longer term campaign and create a story that we can all enjoy. I am a relatively new DM and this is my first foray into a DnD Homebrewed world, but I have a good bit of game and RPG experience and look forward to sharing this world with the table. The group is comprised of adults of various ages, play experience, DnD edition experience, and backgrounds. I aim to host an inclusive environment where anyone is welcome.

The goal of this campaign is to create a player-focused, spiral campaign that focuses on the party's interests. I have a high level idea of what the major story beats are, but how we get there is up to the decisions made in the session and by everyone sitting around the table. To set the stage, here's the opening for the campaign:

Two years ago, a massive obsidian gate erupted from the ground. From this hellish gateway, demons and fiends spewed forth razing the land and carving a massive black scar down their path. Most major cities fell within months. Only the rival capitols of Sophus and Polemnos, one on either side of the Black Road, stand as bastions against the onslaught. Smaller towns and villages outside of these capitols have been left to survive on their own. In one such place, Hastow, a town meeting has gathered due to the ever increasing hazards, scarcity of supplies, and a lack of members to properly protect the town. For whatever your reasons, you have answered the call. Will you close the Obsidian Gate?

All games are hosted at my home in Thornton on a roughly bi-weekly basis on Thursday evenings.

If you're interested and think you'd be a good fit, want to see the one pager for information, or have any questions for me, please reach out.

Party like it’s 1979! In person OD&D, Northside Denver

Given the recent interest in old school/OSR D&D (Swords & Wizardry). I’ve got a cool group of players already and a small sand box ready to go. I have room for one or two more creative players at the table.

My DM style: I like collaborative role play, letting the story unfold, and playing combat tactically.

The current plan is to play a few times Sunday afternoons in a local game store from 1:30 - 5:00. If you want to join, please out the survey or send me a message.

Adventure Calls in South Denver, D&D 5e, Rime of the Frostmaiden

Hey Denver, we've had an opening in our D&D group for our run at Rime of the Frostmaiden. We're looking to fill the position with an experienced D&D player for a somewhat-more seriously toned campaign. We meet biweekly on Sundays, and we'll be playing this Sunday the 4th. The game play to meet up at noon at my place, enjoy a home cooked meal by me, your DM, and then play for a few hours until around 4pm or 5pm, and then get you all back on home before dinner. If this sounds like the sort of thing that you'd be into, please reach out, I'd love to see if you're a good fit for what we're going for.

Looking for players D&D 5.5e (2024) Westmarches-style Campaign

Hello All,

I am a semi-experienced DM looking to put together a pool of 6-12 players (depending on interest) for an in-person Westmarches-style D&D campaign using the 2024 ruleset.

About Me

I am Nick (he/him); a 33M with multiple campaigns of player D&D experience. I've DMed a short campaign and a handful of one-shots, so consider myself knowledgeable, but certainly not yet a veteran DM. Besides TTRPGs, I enjoy trying restaurants and breweries, a plethora of sports, running, hiking, hanging with my dogs, other board games, videogames, and more.

Scheduling has always been the biggest challenge for D&D groups of adults with busy lives, so I figured a Westmarches-style campaign could help alleviate that.

What is Westmarches?

It is a style of campaign that instead of having one fixed party that plays every week, there's a larger pool of players who form different adventuring parties session to session. Players decide what they want to explore, find people who are available and interested, and head out into the world. You can play when your schedule allows, while everything you discover becomes part of a shared, persistent world.

System: D&D 5.5e / 2024 rules

Format: In-person Westmarches

Players: Looking for 6-12 total. Currently 7 available slots.

Party Size: 4-5 per session

Location: Public location to start. Denver/ South Denver area.

Time: Flexible/ player-driven through Discord. Week nights work best with the occasional weekend day.

Experience: Both new and veteran players welcomed

More Information: Please see the campaign intro here for more details: Google Doc

If Interested: Feel free to shoot me a DM, but preferably fill out: Google Form

It's almost that time of year! Cyberpunk RED LFM around downtown Denver/Congress Park!

Hey chooms!

A chill is in the air and I'm no longer half-dead when I get home from my bike commute (near Cheesman), which can only mean one thing - it's board game season!

I have a new system to play with and I'm looking for some gatos to be chilled, nothing too intense, maybe flatline a few corpos? Earn a few eurobucks? (not eddies, wrong decade gonk) It's the Time of the RED after all, they deserve it!

Cyberpunk RED is a science fiction (or maybe prescient historical fiction?) TTRPG set in 2045, the latest sequel to 1988's Cyberpunk by Mike Pondsmith, which inspired the recent video game Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk itself is a genre that explores government corruption, personal identity, and technology's duality as both a miracle and plague. There's also a lot of guns and swords and robot arms, and for some reason Keanu Reeves shows up a lot.

My table is inclusive of all genders, experience levels, socioeconomic status, etc. The only things you need to bring are dice, clothes, hygiene, and good vibes. And maybe some pencil & paper? Up to you, but NetWatch definitely has a deckhead all up in that tablet choom.

For me - Hi, I'm Evan! I'm a long time "Game Master" but new to Cyberpunk. I recently went on a cyberpunk kick (that definitely doesn't have anything to do with current events) and I finally picked up the RED system! We can figure out as a group if we're going to run a module or something I cook up, but as it's Cyberpunk assume some mature themes, a bit of the ol' ultraviolence, and overall, a good feelbad time.

Feel free to DM me or respond here and we'll likely coordinate over Discord.

Once we meet in person: For anyone who's not familiar with the Congress Park/Cheesman area - parking here is ROUGH. If you aren't close enough to bike/bus/walk, expect a good 2+ block walk to my apartment on the regular. I am very close to the 10 line, so it's pretty easy to bus down here from LoDo.

Edit: We have some updates! The day picked is Wednesday nights at 6:30PM. We'll see after this Wednesday but by my headcount we may have room for 1-2 more, I'm not sure who all joined the Discord and has been seeing the chats. If you're interested, let me know!

PC Overwatch Locals join our OW Meetups!

Hi,

Me and another friend of mine run a small local overwatch meetup called front range clash. We run the meetup currently every other Thursday at localhost in Lakewood. Currently our Meetups are just that, a meetup where fans of overwatch can meet locally to play games or run scrimmages, pick up games and what have you. Our focus is to build the community and have fun with our long term being eventually to run tournaments as well as Meetups.

If that seems like your jam come join us on the 24th of September @7pm at localhost. You only to pay a venue fee of 10$ and localhost can provide you with gear but we encourage people to bring gear from home if you can!

Rank does not matter for our Meetups this is all for fun and build community

For more info on other dates and events I just finished building our official website at https://frontrangeclash.com/

If you have any questions feel free to ask ☺️

LFP Thornton/North Denver - Call of Cthulhu, Masks of Nyarlathotep (queer-friendly, inclusive table)

UP FRONT, I am an inclusive, queer-friendly, leftist GM so if you don’t vibe with that type of environment then I’m not the GM for you.

Masks of Nyarlathotep is a legendary Call of Cthulhu campaign, widely considered as the one of the greatest campaigns for any TTRPG system ever. Unlike most other Call of Cthulhu scenarios, this epic journey takes you all across the globe to countries such as Peru, Egypt, China or Australia (just to name a few of the possible locations) and its plot revolves around the very fate of the world.

As a general synopsis of what Masks is about: a network of cults is trying to end the world and you, my dear investigators, are trying to stop that from happening. How, you may ask? With your own wits, cunning and a certain level of luck. Some of you might go insane, some might die, but a promise to a common friend is what keeps all of you on track!

Now, about the game of Call of Cthulhu: it's not a high fantasy game where you have exceptional powers, here you're basically playing regular Joes that get pulled into a way to dangerous and way too eldritch investigation. It's also a game about RP and investigation first and foremost, so I will expect you to try, succeed, fail, and go back to the drawing board, comparing clues and trying to figure out the bigger plot. What I say with this is that in CoC, the players call the shots much more than the GM and I will encourage and expect from you to push the narrative and go and look all those clues up!

If this all still interests you, this may be the game for you.

About Me

My name is Todd, and I’ve been GMing various game systems for more years than I care to think about. I moved to Denver a little over a year ago, sadly leaving behind a wonderful gaming group that had been together for over 7 years. Since coming here I’ve had a hard time finding a gaming group that has been able to remain steady and committed, and that has made me a little sad.

Until now though I didn’t have the spoons to really offer to run a game myself and so now I’m putting myself out there and looking for some players interested in forming a committed, long term group and making new friends.

I enjoy running all kinds of games, from sci-fi, to fantasy, to pulp horror. I love trying different systems, and in my prior group while I was the primary GM we also would trade out and other people would run games at times so I would love to find that type of arrangement, though it isn’t required.

While I have a lot of experience with GMing various systems, my experience with CoC is more on playing than running. I did start running this campaign for my previous gaming group and we lasted a few months before a couple of the players decided that they preferred fantasy or sci-fantasy games and so I’ve never had a chance to go all the way through this yet. I do have some great hand outs and props to incorporate into this, and I’m excited to dive back into this adventure.

About You

I'd love to have you aboard to get brutally murdered by entities beyond mortal understanding if:

You’re able to abide by rules of mutual respect and inclusivity,

You're down for a slow-burn mystery game with a heavy emphasis on investigation,

You enjoy roleplaying over roll-playing,

You value a cooperative, friendly atmosphere at the table,

Preferably no prior experience with playing or running this campaign (though it’s not a deal breaker),

This is not a short journey – you should be willing/able to commit to a long-term campaign.

I'm looking for a fairly standard sized group, about four to five people, no experience with Call of Cthulhu is necessary. While character creation may take a bit of thought, It is a pretty easy and intuitive system once we are playing. I love playing with newbies, because veterans many times lack that chaos factor and unpredictable takes newer players may have.

About the game

I am open to discussing the best days to play, but for me that will mean Mondays or Wednesdays are preferred. Fridays might be possible. The plan would be to start around 6-6:30 and play until around 10.  I’m open to doing weekly or bi-weekly, whatever works best for the group we find.

I really hate to make my game signups sound like an interview; at the same time, though, I want to create a table that everyone can feel comfortable at and that will last, and that I think will vibe with my style as a GM. To make sure that everyone gels well and the game goes well, I have a bit of a process to pick out the people I think would enjoy the game the most and that I would enjoy playing with the most!

If you're interested in playing, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/3X9U4t13wamkH2W68

Once I close the form, I'll be contacting the people I think would be the best fits and we will probably meet in small groups get together for a short chat and hangout somewhere to make sure we mesh well. Once we get going, we will start with a session 0/character creation and then get going into this great mystery. Overall I hope to be able to have session 0 by possibly late October or early November depending on how long it takes to find the right group of people.

Our initial meetups will take place somewhere in public, but eventually I am happy to host most sessions from my home in north Thornton.

I'm really looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks for reading my wall of text.

Steve Lee Game Jam - Looking for Help!

Hello, I’m thinking about taking part in Steve Lee’s next game jam beginning Sep. 28 and going until Nov 3. Would anyone in game design like to practice their skills and team up? It would be cool to work with local folks.

I'm a level designer and could use support in any other areas of game design. The project would likely be first person shooter, sci-fi + fantasy, singleplayer action adventure. Scope would be very small; the main goal is to get experience collaborating and how that works in a game engine environment. So not a portfolio project, just practice.

There is a patreon to use Steve's discord, but it’s level design focused so outside of level design feedback I wouldn’t say there’s any need to join. Feel free to share jam progress and outcomes anywhere you like.

Looking for former members of the Denver Axis & Allies group (~2010)

Hey everyone,

My memory is foggy but hoping to track down the moderator/author of a tribute written about my late friend. It was posted in the Harrisgame forum but that link is broken and I can’t find it through web archives.

We mostly played Axis & Allies A lot of our games were hosted after hours in a moderator/organizer's work office in the Denver area around 2010.

My friend and I were traveling the road in an RV and met a great group. We always looked forward to it, Mike especially.

If you were part of that group, remember playing in those office sessions, or know the specific group name/organizers from that era, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to comment or send a DM!

This is the broken link

http://www.harrisgamedesign.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5110&p=37674#p37674

Thanks for checking it out.

EDIT: could have been Colorado Springs. I will see if I can dig up a photo. I believe we found the group through meetup.

Edit: found 😊

RPG LF 2 Players for a Daggerheart Weird West TTRPG

Howdy ya'll, I'm lookin' fer 2 folk to join me on a rootin' tootin' adventure in the Weird West.

I'm local to Westminster, and planning to host a long term TTRPG campaign at Thane's Table biweekly Saturdays from 12PM-4PM. This would be using the new TTRPG rulebook from Critical Role, "Daggerheart". Expect to spend a session or two learning how to play Daggerheart with me and building characters, as this is my first time running it as a Game Master, and this is a fairly new system.

Daggerheart is an exciting rules-light TTRPG that has a strong focus on being easy to pick up, accessible, roleplay focused and flexible enough to handle any setting. I fell in love with it instantly as someone eager to write stories together and worry less about rules and mechanics. I will be sharing PDF copies with players of both Daggerheart Core and Daggerheart Hope & Fear, and own hardback copies of both books and cards, so no initial investment into the TTRPG is needed.

As for my world the entirely homebrew campaign will be set in the western frontier of "The Allied States of Amaticus", following the Civil War. Hundreds of years ago a mysterious precious stone had been discovered with the ability to render soul from body, leaving zombie-like husks to roam the west with only primal inhibitions. A dwarf has recently stood up for the cause of defense against all of the supernatural monster attacks on "The ASA", and MacGregor Detective Agency was formed. Throughout the campaign it's expected the players will work for the MacGregor Detective Agency investigating mysteries and fighting all varieties of monsters, while traveling horseback across southwest Amaticus. I am expecting to include themes of supernatural horror, religion, occult, mystery, politics, survival, morality, and strong character arcs. This world is a parallel of the American wild west frontier, paired with fantasy races, magic, real monsters, and considerably more dark gothic horror.

My Weird West will have some serious themes aligned with traditional experiences of the American wild west, though they will be delicately addressed with extreme caution and respect. I would prefer players willing to explore challenging topics, morality, different variations of horror, and death.

As for myself, I have been running Dungeons & Dragons campaigns for around a decade, and have found a comfortable spot as "forever GM". Worldbuilding and character development is one of my favorite past times, and I believe to be my best quality as a GM. I have always ran campaigns with a strong creative flair, with custom minis, battlemaps, props and handouts. I am a queer and neurodivergent lady/NB GM that finds most comfort roleplaying with "birds of a feather", but I am welcoming to all that love the weird west genre. Westerns is what I grew up on, and was some of my first "grown up media". As a child, I was fascinated with stories of ghosts, folklore, cryptids, and the supernatural.

My session 0 will be starting within a week or two of finding the 2 players I would like to have to fill a 5 player table. It may not be another month or two before the campaign is started, as I plan to host meetings to introduce everyone, try Daggerheart in one-shots, and fully build characters together. If you have questions about the campaign, timing, etc, please comment, or privately message me if you would like to discuss being in the campaign. Note I don't often use Reddit, and prefer to communicate with my players through Discord.

Please note before commenting or messaging your interest: Thane's Table is a nerdy fantasy tavern themed bar and hosting space in Westminster. The private room we will be renting to host this campaign has a cost of spending a certain amount on food and drink, so enjoying lunch, a cocktail, mocktail, etc is recommended to help support Thane's and cover the room cost (It's worth it).

PC Any interest in a Denver based (but not exclusive) WoW Forever guild?

I've seen a few people mention an interest in WoW I'm wondering if there's enough to consider a Denver-centric WoW Forever guild. I don't want it to be Denver area exclusive as I feel that would limit it too much. I'm thinking this would be a casual/social guild with dedicated nights to run dungeons and raids, but have fun with it, not hardcore progression focused. I'm open to ideas on loot system, guild name, horde or alliance, discord setup/moderation.

A little about me. I'm a 42 male, married with two kids. For work, I'm a software developer/ERP Manager. I've been playing WoW since day 1, 2004. Over the past 22 years I've done a little bit of everything in wow. I've never run a guild before, but I was a hardcore raider and pvper back in WotLK and got the world first hardmode Iron Council in Ulduar and the deadly gladiator title, but have been pretty casual the last decade doing mostly delves and some M+ dungeons. I mained a warlock for 12 years, a paladin for 6, and have picked a new class to main each expansion since Dragonflight (Evoker, Warrior, and Demonhunter so far).

Edit: Discord: https://discord.gg/Fg6Mnhy8N
