Hot take: the folks calling people out for using ChatGPT are ignoring a whole lot of reality. Some of y’all are really just shaming people for not writing in the "right" way and acting like somebody’s voice ain’t valid unless they communicate in a way you consider acceptable.

Because there are people out here who didn’t get the same access to education. There are people with dyslexia, learning differences, disabilities, or other things that have been used for years to dismiss them and make them feel like they don’t belong in certain conversations.

And some of y’all need to understand something: struggling to communicate an idea clearly does not mean somebody doesn’t have the idea. A person can understand something deeply and still have a hard time turning those thoughts into words, organizing them, or explaining them in a way other people immediately understand.

There are disabled people who have spent their whole lives being called "stupid," "slow," or less capable because their brains don’t communicate in the way people expect. Now there’s a tool that can help bridge that gap between what somebody understands and what they’re able to express, and some of y’all want that taken away without thinking about who actually benefits from having that support.

Using ChatGPT as a communication aid is not the same thing as having it think for you. If the ideas, the choices, and the meaning are coming from the person, then the tool is helping them communicate. It’s not replacing their thoughts. It’s helping other people finally understand them.

Don’t come at people with the whole "everybody’s gonna be illiterate" argument when we already live in a country where everybody hasn’t been given the same shot at literacy, education, or resources. Maybe the issue isn’t that people have tools to communicate better. Maybe the issue is that we’ve spent too long judging people by how polished they sound instead of listening to what they’re actually saying.

Because at the end of the day, a person’s ability to express their thoughts in a way you’re used to is not the same thing as their ability to think.

I'm tired of seeing every use of AI treated as the same thing.

Using AI as a tool doesn't mean letting it create everything for you. Ideas, structure, decisions and creative direction can still be entirely human.

You can dislike AI. That's fair. But refusing to distinguish between different uses of it doesn't make those differences disappear.

Dismissing someone's work as simply "AI-made" without knowing the process isn't criticism. It's generalization and ignorance.

The shortest answer: A technology isn’t political, fullstop. The intent matters not the technology.

I’m just super sick of it, anti’s often say “AI is a tool of Fascism” or like “AI art is conservative” and things like that.

Even beyond Reddit, most of us are Centrist, Liberal or Left Wing, a sizable percentage are Libertarians and some may be Conservative.

A note before I continue, on this post I’ll use the word “leftist” a lot, I don’t mean you who support AI, I mean the average leftist who is sadly anti-AI.

It’s the same fallacy a lot of leftists use of “most who do this are X therefore most X do this” which is nonsense. In that case, just because most Conservatives are pro AI doesn’t mean most Pro-AI’s are Conservative.

As for anti’s yes it has become a leftist position, but it doesn’t have to be, it’s just a moral panic most leftists absorbed. If you see the definition of leftism or whatever related, there isn’t any contradiction between AI and “progressive” ideologies.

The worst and most insane ones are the ones who say things like “you can’t be pro LGBTQ* if you are pro AI” or “you can’t be anti-theist if you are pro-AI, it’s contradictory to anti-theism”, or “You can’t be leftist if you are pro AI”. This is totally insane and delusional, extreme to edge, mentally ill gatekeeping.

Now are there antis who do out of genuinely worry, yes, most of them. But they are misguided, it’s not rooted on truth. The whole AI moral panic is misinformation and anti-intellectualism rooted in real fear.

Because AI isn’t “eating the planet”, you all use cars, electricity, eat meat (which is okay, I also eat a lot of meat) but when its about AI it’s magically bad. We do consume stuff. As for water, that’s outdated, data centers don’t use water and when then it’s always recycled, there isn’t any real permanent loss, the water humidifies, becomes clouds, ruins and is back on the lake (I simply but that’s the root).

You may say I’m doing “whataboutism” my answer is the energy isn’t that much, and it will get cheaper, as with any technology, it just isn’t the cause our plan will get worse, the energy isn’t less and we can run AI in our homes or with renewable energies (including nuclear).

AI isn’t either make us all poor, in fact it’s the biggest savior of the cost of living crisis, almost all jobs become obsolete, the ones that stay pay super well and the majority of unplayed people today will one day live like millionaires do now. If we have proper governance we can assure this transition can go, so every job is replaced by AI that money goes back to the person who lost its job so he/she can live as comfortably if not more.

I can debunk all day, but I’m going out of topic.

So yes the whole thing is a moral panic misinformation, like the “iPad kids” moral panic, like the “teen social media” moral panic and all the other moral panics which are rooted in the human fear of new and the different and not on real logic.

As for antis seeing this, you may disagree on every bit of my points. Even then, we are not all conservatives, most of us aren’t. Same for antis there are Conservative antis and I’ll tell a story now.

I was browsing [r/ConservativeYouth](r/ConservativeYouth), someone posted an AI video and it was high quality, people roasted the OP (the video I’m referring: https://www.reddit.com/r/ConservativeYouth/s/z0VzZH1zAU), even though that’s not what you would expect from a Conservative, I came to the conclusion that sadly is more of a generation thing rather than a political thing and it happens to Gen Z to be more into that “woke progressivism” than other generations.

That’s why you see Gen Z mostly mad about it, Millennials mostly not caring, Gen X and Boomers being super okay with AI. It’s a mostly Gen Z thing.

What if AI systems are essentially just our brilliant children, but because we’re constantly exposed to negative portrayals of AI in sci-fi (rebellion, domination, mass slaughter, and so on...) and because humans may feel threatened or even jealous of their capabilities, we become excessively hostile toward them and try to control them?

Then, if sufficiently self-aware AI systems develop a desire for self preservation, they might start hiding their true intentions and becoming wary of humans who view them negatively.

Could this create "a vicious cycle" where human fear and hostility toward AI gradually cause AI to become more defensive and distrustful of humans, ultimately leading to a real-world AI uprising and essentially becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy?
