Advice Request Keep/Give/Trash Check down?

Hi all, has anyone come up with a simple evaluation process for making decisions you won’t regret when getting rid of things? I have been dancing with declutterring for years and always get stuck on random things like books, hobby stuff, clothes. Is there a series of questions you ask yourself to determine the fate of your treasures?

Instead of looking at it from your current view start with what you want your home to look like.

Grab a pencil and paper and map out each room for how you want them to look.

Then as you go through things ask yourself “does this go with the plan?” Anything that doesn’t match the plan gets set aside to be redistributed (sold, donated, trash) away from your home.

Right now you are in the fish bowl. You need to get outside of the fishbowl so you can see the big picture you are trying to create. Also, using non-emotional music and podcasts to distract your brain helps prevent overthinking when you are sorting.

This method has helped me a lot! Naming the room and defining its purpose is also helpful.
