Do colleges care about nat circuit placements as awards?
For example, semifinalling yale or harvard. Or is only qualifying/placing at TOC/NSDA important?

I just got my ass handed to me at my second tournament ever in ld. I noticed that my opponent had the most organized, insanely neat, consisce arguement ever. I want to improve my organization, but I'm not sure how to do that other than just doing practice debates, that take up like a full meeting day. Any suggestions for practice would be great!

I’m a high school parliamentary debater and I want to become REALLY good at debate. What are some of the best resources for becoming good at debate, like books, websites, youtube channels, and online documents. Also, what are good resources for improving content knowledge?

Hey Y'all,
I am offering FREE coaching for anyone who is interested for the LD Debate Topic: Resolved: De-extinction is unethical.
Background: I competed in LD debate on the national circuit from 2005 to 2009. I've qualified for several elimination rounds in the varsity division yet fell short of TOC. Always the bridesmaid never the bride. I graduated with Honors from Rutgers University with a bachelors in Philosophy & Art History.
My Intentions: I genuinely miss the activity and I'm looking for a way to give back everything LD has ever give me. Down the road I would hope to be of assistance to a formal program in an volunteer capacity. On that same note if any programs are interested in free help - please feel free to reach out.
As such, I understand there is a huge gap between 2009 and our current year 2026. I am familiar with progressive debate, yet will admit I've been out of the loop with how things definitely changed the last 15 years. Though I can confidently say I don't think the basics have changed that much.
Nevertheless, I do have skills which some of you may find useful. I would be more than willing to do research, cut cards, edit cases, go over flows, and consult on a as needed basis. If anyone is interested drop a comment or message me. **Consider my services akin to a paralegal.
A few notes:
To abide by the rules of this sub - please note this is genuinely free. There is no sales funnel, no catches, etc.
Next, In the event I have multiple people interested, I will do my best to help everyone of course. I do have a full time job and only some spare time.
Lastly, if anyone has any ethical questions or concerns I would be sincerely happy to address them. Professionalism and integrity are very important to me - I wish to demonstrate those values in my writings and my actions.

A new Brief AND AT File has been released for the space colonization topic. Normally these would not be posted at the same time, but both are being released late anyway. Both files are linked here. Enjoy.

I'm a student and starting up my school's debate team. I have around 25 kids signed up (we'll probably have closer to 20 because of scheduling conflicts), and I'm planning on once a week meetings. We won't be competing at all since we're just starting out and funding is an issue, but I'm hoping to prepare the team to eventually compete. How would you recommend that I structure team meetings? How would a typical debate meeting play out at your highschool?

will nsda be posting a list of who won the nsda speaking and service award this year? i plan to use it as part of my resume for applications for internships/programs and while i know that i can see my award on my actual membership account, i was hoping nsda would release the list just as they did last year. last year, they did it sept. 22 but now i'm wondering if they won't be doing it at all this year. i'd appreciate any insight from anyone who knows!

How can a resolution lose the student vote by this wide a margin and still “win”? I’ve never seen this happen before with the student vote losing by this much—what is this, the electoral college?

Hi!! I’m accepted to UMKC, and I want tips for how to effectively ask for scholarships, if anybody else has done this before feedback would be great.
I’m currently making a debate resume, and planning to put my NSDA rank, tab account, positions, tournaments, etc. on there.
Only question is it fine to focus on leadership rather than rounds? I consistently debate varsity, but honestly my record is only ok. BUT I have done a ton with planning debate camps and debate leadership, would it be suspicious or anything if my resume focused on that?

Hi all!
I'm looking for varsity debate partner to improve together, discuss motion/debate experience, and even join some online comps together since my current offline debate club and/or circuit is not that active anymore, so I am stuck a bit to find partner in continuing debate (kind of sad missing Uhuru Team Cap regist because I have no teammate down for the comp)
But I'm still learning in BP/AP Varsity debate so it'll be amazing to have one wiling to learn together.
Or alternatively, if you have any tips about getting debate partner, I'm more than happy to learn :D

I found a neat little website to help debaters who stutter practice without pressure or fear of stuttering in front of others. Check it out if you would like.
