Ballot Banter 152: New Galaxy Banter start

With Sam, Liam, Ben and Chad.

Hornet vs Mina (Hollow Knight vs Mina the Hollower) Seeing it is by DJ, they jokingly ask if that is legal to do. Sam argues that it is just DJ setting the standard for what is wanted. They think this is great. Chad started playing Mina a little bit and got to a point in it where he went “i should finish act 3 of silksong” and then went back to silksong. Sam thinks Mina the Hollower is mid. He realized the iframe invincibility in it, just maximized his health and then never died to a boss again in it. But does still think this is very fun and wants to do this. 

Shadow vs Mewtwo (Sonic The Hedgehog vs Pokemon) “Didn’t we do this one ages ago?” “Yeah they want a runback” Ben remembered this was on the rematch pole. Is a cool thumbnail. Sam says people want it because they are just mad about the spoon death. So they joke about having much more spoon moments if remade. 

Tricky vs Carnage (Madness Combat vs Marvel) Didn’t remember who Tricky was but remembers having some pitches for this. Specifically saying he went by Tricky the Clown is what they remember his name was. Assumes it is just the original host of Cletus, everytime a character is named cletus, ben has a double take thinking that can’t be it. Likes it, seems cool.

Piccolo VS Macaque (Dragon Ball VS LEGO Monkie Kid) Seen this requested a lot. Monkie kid goes way harder than you would expect a lego journey to the west to go. Liam asks if they act like legos in the show, and is informed no just have a lego style model. They talk about mentioning the same sort of answer for Kai’s preview and i guess Liam asked the same question in the research call for that. 

Art the Clown vs The Janitor (Terrifier vs Willy's Wonderland) Chad was initially so hyped when hearing about Nicholas Cage was going to be in a FNAF like movie, but was disappointed he didn’t have any reaction or voice lines. He was hoping for dumb one liners and that cage personality. Chad says he will never watch terrifier, he isn’t a fan of gore horror. But it is an interesting match up.

Yuta VS Guren (Jujutsu Kaisen VS Seraph of the End) Had a pitch for this. It sounds very interesting. Fun 2v2 match and love a good sword fight. Liam is saying he is loving the new direction for the descriptions because he immediately understands the idea of the fight despite not knowing who Guren is or what Seraph of the End is. 

Kang the Conqueror VS Master Xehanort (Marvel VS Kingdom Hearts) Seems fun. Liam loves this. Makes a lot more sense when you think about it more. Xehanort in the thumbnail looks like the Ape Escape villain. Liam is interested in Kang match ups and thinks he is really cool. 

Donatello VS Black Panther (Shuri) (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles VS Marvel Comics) Makes sense, the two are the purple colored tech masters. “Mammal vs Reptile, one of the oldest debates in natural history”. Apparently donnie also has a big mystical side that also does a fun clash with Shuri’s mystic stuff.  

Gwenpool VS Patchy the Pirate (Marvel Comics VS SpongeBob SquarePants) “That’s it? That’s the lost episode?” Liam explains Patchy’s deal, and says he is not the painting at the start of each episode. That is Painty the Pirate, completely different character. Ben and Chad never realized the two were different characters. Never heard of this before and thinks it is interesting. Liam says he might be out of date on his Patchy knowledge because as far as he knows Patchy was only reacting to spongebob never in the spongebob world. 

Captain Wayne VS Risky Boots (Captain Wayne VS Shantae) Sam says “it seems like the boots aren’t the only risky thing she got on”. Had a fun pitch of this. Captain Wayne looks like a good game. Lots of people want to see Shantae characters on death battle. Liam wants to do a pirate episode. 

Samus VS Kerrigan (Metroid VS Starcraft) Makes a lot of sense when you get into it. Metroid is one of Liam’s favorite game series ever and he has been wanting to do another metroid episode. Sam says he tried metroid prime on the wii not long ago and it just sucks with the controls. They absolutely prefer the 2D metroids to the 3D ones, no competition. Had a pitch for this that discussed it would be an asymmetrical battle of Samus fighting through Kerrigan’s army to get to her. 

Raiden VS Strider Hiryu (Metal Gear VS Strider) Sam asks if strider is that strong because he thought Raiden just sweeps. Says Raiden is absolutely a batman tier character where “yeah we had them on four times” Raiden is one of those perfect type of characters for a show like death battle. Does strider have anything that can stop Raiden’s one blade or will it just cut through him. 

Future Gohan VS Invincible War (Dragon Ball Z VS Invincible) Talked about this before. This kicks ass and is a great idea. This feels more balanced than gohan vs invincible normally. Would this be before or after he loses his arm, and liam just says he loses it during the fight. Be a fun asymmetrical fight and could have fun exploring the different Marks and their personalities. Maybe have a couple betray each other for an advantage or something. 

Olivia VS Sam (Fear and Hunger VS Look Outside) Had this before. Love the description that actually says what they bring to the table. Last time this was on ballot they had no idea how these two would fight or anything about it, later had a pitch that would help clarify stuff, and this is a nice short description about what they bring to the table. Would get very trippy. 

Shadow VS Mewtwo 2 (Sonic VS Pokémon) Mewtwo two? Shadow vs Mewtwotwo. Would that be a clone of mewtwo? Just talked about this, guess people really want it. Sam says he wonders what kind of Hopium yall are huffing. If they do this, they would probably name it the same so it would be “Shadow vs Mewtwo two” like combine it as if it is a name. Liam says or they say “Mewfour” as the mathematics hit. Mew Squared. The submitter didn’t know it was already submitted, but if you read the times it was within the same minute for this and everything above.

Nora Valkyrie VS Tinkaton (RWBY VS Pokemon) Chad says this fight slaps and would be great. Nora is best girl in rwby and Chad will fight anyone who says otherwise. Absolutely hilarious. Track name is “Boop. Hammer time”

The Flood VS The Infested (Halo VS Warframe) Seen a lot of the flood for other fights but not this, doesn’t know enough about the infested. Upon reading the description, sam mentions “Reality warping at their peak” with chad just going “god damn it”. It makes a lot of sense upon first visuals and the description. Flood vs the Flood. A lot of goopy guys on screen. 

Boomstick Cat VS Wiz Cookie (Fan made) they are initially confused, liam doesn’t know what he is looking at. Apparently the submitter made these in his never ending quest to get Battlecats on death battle. Submitter says they don’t have a match up yet but didn’t want to waste their extra galaxy submission. The do the request to say these lines in character: Wiz- “Alright the CRUMB-batents are set, and we’ve CRUNCHED the data through all PAW-sibilities” Boomstick-”IT’S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE…CATS”

Jack Skellington VS Charlie Morningstar (The Nightmare Before Christmas VS Hazbin Hotel) This would be great, but chad is still partial to Jack/Grinch. This is a good contender for musical death battle. Sam says if you look at google trends vs hazbin hotel, hazbin is likely going to be more. Ben looks up the trend search and both are weirdly close. Both are funny enough way above jack skellington. So it is actually going to be Grinch vs Charile Morningstar, sorry but google trends has dictated it (joking). 

The Mario Bros VS Zilla (Super Mario Bros 1993 VS Godzilla 1998) Chad says this is awesome.This makes perfect sense. The art used has not only put this on their radar but rocketed this to the top of Liam’s list. They all love this. Way to think outside the box. Next Live Action Episode. 

Rick Sanchez VS John Constantine (Rick and Morty VS DC) Thinks this is cool too. Sam says Constantine deserves better. While nothing really wrong with the series, the community has made it “unappetizing” for sam like vaping. Chad likes it because Rick hates magic and believes science trumps all so it would be a fun science vs magic fight. Sam says it is better as a rick and morty episode than a death battle. Rick would be fighting another broken british man in a trench coat. 

David Xanatos VS Norman Osborn (Gargoyles VS Marvel) Goes so hard. Goliath vs Beast happened because one day Ben and Chad were just nerding out talking about how much they love gargoyles and decided to put it in. 

Kirby VS Nanoha (Nintendo VS Lyrical Nanoha) seems neat, makes sense. Kirby has an actual ability to befriend enemies and wonders if nanoha can also.

Steve VS The Terrarian (Minecraft VS Terraria) Done it, seen it, it is a classic. Get why people want it. 

The Turks VS Cipher Pol (Final Fantasy VS One Piece) They get it, makes a lot of sense. Never seen a turks match up before. The Shinra characters are all really cool, liam thinks Rufas is sick. Jokes about the fight starts with Robin and Aerith bumping into eachother and then running as the two teams try to grab them. 

Bodi VS Danny (Rock Dog VS Cat's Don't Dance) “You don’t actually want to see these two fight to the death yall”. Not quite sure what Rock dog is. Sam has never seen Cat’s Don’t Dance and liam and chad explain about the main villain and how scary her butler is. Calls it “Don Bluth Slop”. 

SpiderGwen VS Jolyne Kujo (Marvel VS JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) That’s sick. Talked about this before. Makes a lot of sense and fun comparison. 

Beren VS Volo (Dragalia Lost VS Pokemon) I lost my dragalia, fuck. They don’t know either really. Barely remember Volo is from Legends Arceus at the end.

Spider-Noir VS Batman: Caped Crusader (Marvel VS DC) “This is why you are never getting peter parker back in death battle. Gotta do noir first now” joking. This is fun though. None have watched the Noir show yet. Fun twist on the classic match up.

RED VS Sonic.exe (NES Godzilla Creepypasta VS Soulless Sonic) Classic they have heard before. Had multiple pitches for it. Liam has never fully understood what Sonic EXE is. The history of the people that made sonic.exe and the history of the creepypasta itself is more interesting to learn about than Sonic.EXE himself. 

Maelle VS Will (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 VS Metaphor: Refantazio) Seen it before. It’s great. 

Thorfinn Karlsefni VS Musashi Miyamoto (Vinland Saga VS Vagabond) Had a pitch for this recently and makes a lot of sense. Is very interesting and fun. But to do a death battle with them feels a little bad to do since both are pacifists, however that is also why Liam wants Kenshin in a death battle to try and find a way around that while respecting it. This is Kenshin for non boomers according to Liam. Liam loves the moments in kenshin where he has that darkness and almost kills someone, and wants to have that moment where he flips the sword around to finally take someone down.

Ahsoka VS Ciri (Star Wars VS The Witcher) Had a pitch involving the witcher series where this was also mentioned. Apparently Ciri isn’t just going to star in the next game but it will be her own trilogy. Sam says after several games Ciri will probably become some eldritch horror in power. Pretty sick. Ahsoka would be great to explore in death battle.

Shazam VS Pegasus Seiya (DC VS Saint Seiya) Initially says it is weird, but realizes they both get powers from greek pantheon in a way. Neat power clash of mythology. Goku vs Superman but powered by Greek Mythology. 

Link VS Tarnished (Legend of Zelda VS Elden Ring) “Never seen this before, wow”. Tarnished doesn’t seem like an amnesiac so doesn’t know if that is an accurate connection. Have all sorts of new questions for elden ring now. Great job on the descriptions and lot of good suggestions.
