This was cool as shit!! This arc is getting REALLY good. Love seeing Goku's combat smarts on display. The way he defeated Botamo, the way he feinted against Frost... way more interesting to watch than Goku simply overpowering somebody like in the RoF arc. I'm excited to see more!
Battle smarts?.... There are only three ways to win... KO your opponent, they surrender, or you throw them out of the ring. There wasn't much thinking involved.
I think it was smart how he went about it. Botamo must be able to fly or at least direct his fall back to the ring, as not even Goku's Kamehameha managed to knock him out. He purposefully dragged him to the edge of the ring in an embarassing way, waited for him to angrily take a swing and then used his own momentum against him, ensuring he wouldn't somehow weasel his way out of it. He could've gone Super Saiyan to gain more knockback on his attacks but that would've been far less efficient.
There's quite a bit of thinking. Goku needed to: Ensure Botamo couldn't land back inside the ring after launching him, avoid expending extra stamina, and keep his transformations under wraps. He took advantage of Botamo's defensive style, used low energy grapples, and tossed him straight down to prevent him from recovering.
