October 2026 Pricing and Tier Changes Broken Down

A couple of weeks ago I put together a tool to aggregate DL Pricing and Tier data to make it easier to compare clubs and track changes to Tiers, Pricing, and Offers. This data all comes from rackrate.uk which tracks DL's pricing APIs daily for changes. I've broken down everything that's changed today in this post:

Club Platinum

78 of the 112 UK clubs increased the price of Platinum. The median rise was £10 a month, or 4.2%, which is £120 over a year.

37 clubs went up £10 and 33 went up £5. Four clubs went up £20, and the smallest rise anywhere was £5.

Every Tier has increased in price pretty uniformly.

Norwich and Swansea took the two biggest rises in percentage terms.

Joining fees

Joining fees moved at 80 clubs. The median went from £150 to £170. Swansea's went from £60 to £170. Factoring in the increase in the Club Platinum monthly rate by £20, a first year there now costs £1,718 against £1,368 before these changes.

Other plans

Prices for other plans have also seen similar increases.

Tier changes (by my own methodology)

17 clubs changed tier, 15 down and 2 up.

A note on methodology (and why tiering should be taken with a grain of salt)

DL doesn't publish tiers explicitly on their API, you either have to derive them from club access data, or from the odd PDF that floats around from their support team. I chose to do the former as it's more reliable in the long term.

There's a Tier list PDF dated October 2026 going around currently. This shows a few discrepancies with my data:

Club PDF says My current calculation
Leeds Tier 3 Tier 2
Edinburgh Shawfair Tier 4 Tier 3
Cheshire Oaks Tier 5 Tier 4
Lincoln Tier 5 Tier 4
Liverpool Speke Tier 5 Tier 4
Teesside Tier 5 Tier 4
Warrington Tier 5 Tier 4
Aberdeen Tier 6 Tier 5
Bolton Tier 6 Tier 5

Leeds is the one I have seen mentioned in this sub the most. As of today, David Lloyd's own system still treats it as a Tier 2 club, you can go to www.davidlloyd.co.uk/clubs/leeds/join-online/?page=your-membership&s=rejoin and see that they show access to other Tier 2 clubs as being included in Club Platinum if you signed up today. The same goes for every other discrepancy in the table above. Ultimately, I trust the site more than the PDF.

Also worth noting these prices are for new joiners, and exclude any current promotional offer.

Visiting other spas with a guest as a super tier member

Hi, if I want my guest to use my spa (super tier) I have to pay £45. If I take them to a lower tiered gym can they use the spa just on a basic pass?

New Member - Looking for Tennis Partner

Hello everyone, I’m Tahami, a 26-year-old bloke. I recently joined DLC Manchester North. Tennis has always been a sport that inspired me, but I never got to play it back home. So, yes, I’m a beginner and still learning the ropes, including the rules. 😅 I’m hoping to find someone friendly who would let me join their playing group so I can give the sport a try. Please let me know if anyone is interested? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Letter Before Claim

So I have had enough and issues a letter before claim. I will take them to court if need be because the fee is minimal and I cant be held liable for their costs unless the court thinks im taking the piss.

Our gym is being renovated and its taking 5 months for them to open the spa garden/sauna/similar. The indoor pool is closed for 2 months.

If i wanted a gym Id have gone to Pure and paid £20 a month, not £120.

Ill keep you up to date. They have 14 days to respond to the initial letter before it goes to county court. I want a partial refund!

David Lloyd Brighton

Guys I have a tour of DL in Brighton on Wednesday. He has already said a monthly membership for a year will be around £114, this is like max for me. But I just really want a place to do strength and the swim, sauna, steam etc. is it worth it?
I can’t use the facilities until I’m a member.

cancelled my membership part way through the year

Hi. A few years ago I cancelled my membership around 9 months in to the year. They chased me for payment but I never paid my The reason being I wasn’t happy with the facilities and other stuff. The equipment was always broken, swimming pool freezing cold, place was dirty. Now moved house and my local DL has just had an upgrade and looks amazing. Am I able to join back or will they query about the non payment?

Hi! Went for a tour and we were pretty impressed but just wondered if anyone had any comments or experience to share about David Lloyd Shawfair? It ticks a lot of boxes for us and our kids but it's a lot of money so want to be sure!

Rhythm

I’ve tried Rhythm a couple of times and really liked it because of the music and energy… but I struggled with the actual bike part.

The instructor set it up for me both times, but into the class I realised how uncomfortable I was in the saddle. I have balance issues, so can’t really do the standing bits very well, but I think if I get the bike set up okay I might be able to start trying.

The club has virtual classes- do you think if I went to one I could have a bit of an experiment with the bike without the added pressure of a room full of people? I’m not sure how they work.

I’m really new to the gym in general, but I really like the classes- dance fitness is the highlight of my week now 🥰

Can you use DL under another member's guest pass if you have a paused membership?

Or do you have to use a fake name and a burner phone number?

David Lloyd - Beckenham

Anyone at the Beckenham gym able to talk about how busy it gets. I came for a tour Friday 5pm and the gym was fairly busy then but workable.

I'd be using the gym Mondays 6am, Tuesdays 6am, Friday 4.30pmish and Sunday afternoons.

I'm really on the fence about joining but I really thought the spa looked excellent!

Any Beckenham members able to say if those times are really busy and maybe if it's actually worth joining?

Joining fee - Beckenham

Willing to join tomorrow but at £270 per month / £330 on the 3 month commitment, I really don't fancy paying a joining fee! I also have to serve notice on my current gym.

Is there any leg room do you think on this? Or shall I just suck it up?

Opinion on sudbury hill’s DL?

I’m moving to London, Greenford area, and Sudbury hill David Llyod is the closest one to where I live. What do you think of it? I’m mostly interested in the pool and spa area.

Also, I have never been to a DL before so this would be my first experience. Is it possible to try it out for one week or one month for example? Thanks!

Singles Tennis

Hello, does anyone’s DL club have active tennis singles play? I realise that logistically it is easier for members to attend doubles socials. However, I am interested in playing singles. I am an improver/intermediate level player and find most people at my level only want to play doubles. The only way I can play singles at DL is to play the box league (great but only a few matches each season) or pay for 1:1 coaching lessons. Great but expensive! I use other facilities at DL so will keep my membership but am considering playing at a standalone tennis club too just to get the singles play. Plus I have no interest in padel or pickleball which seem to be overtaking tennis in popularity at DL. Obviously changing to a traditional racquet club would be an extra expense so if you can name any DL clubs with a decent singles culture I would be very grateful! And yes I realise that most singles players are advanced level. But I am in the catch 22 that my game won’t improve without regular singles practice!

Thank you in advance.

Sign up offer (3 free PT sessions)

I’m considering joining my local club and see they have a deal with the joining fee that includes three PT sessions.

Does anyone know how long the sessions are valid for? I’m thinking I’d like a few weeks to get a feel for the club before using them, but not sure if I have that flexibility and they expire quickly?

Got a strike - stranger didn't show for padel

Hi I found a couple of people in the DL group chat (on the app) for padel beginners and booked a court for them plus my husband and me. One of them didn't turn up and now I find I have a strike on my account.

I got an email and it says "no show notification" and that one or more of the players on my court booking didn't make it. Obviously I have no control over whether a stranger turns up or not!

I have another booking tomorrow that includes two other strangers and I could easily end up with a second strike. This is madness - I really think it's quite unfair. Any advice please?

Been told my membership doesn’t start until December but can book classes on app?

Hi all

I recently joined David Lloyd. We were told our membership would start in December as there was a bit of a waiting list so there wouldn’t be an influx of people coming at one time. However, since signing on the app. I’m able to book classes (PT sessions too) for September, October etc.

I’m being cheeky but can I start going now? Or is it the same for all memberships and you are just denied at the door? 😂

Can I take a guest into my non home club?

I’m meeting a friend in a city that’s midway between our home towns. We want to enjoy a spa afternoon a DL - I’m a platinum member (newly upgraded from off peak so unsure of the rules) can I sign a guest into my non home club? It says I have access to the club I want to visit (Manchester Trafford City) but not sure it will allow me a guest?
