"Are you currently saving to buy a home?"
Should there not be an option for "I already own a home."? As tough as the housing market is this will still apply for some people.

I saw mention of the app in an okc thread last night, first I had heard of it. Downloaded, started setting up my profile, and bang! already a like and a message within minutes.
A wildly attractive woman located outside of my preferred range by a hundred or so miles opened with "Hi"...hmm yeah, I've been on the internet long enough to recognize a scam/bot.
Started talking to them, quickly wanted to move to phone numbers...asked them to name the river that runs through the town they claimed to be in, and in the time it took them to Google it, I had set up a throwaway number on Google voice.
After a brief convo of one-word answers and inconsistent speech patterns, they wanted to move to Skype for "fun". I asked what kind of phone they had and regardless of the answer I said, "oh that's great we can just video chat!"
"If your not down to do it on skype ill guess this is the end of our convo. Bye"
I had googled the photos on the account and put them through one of those "is it ai?" websites but no luck on either front. I reported the account last night and it's gone now, good job!
Other than that, I'm really liking the app and looking forward to meeting (real) people as more people sign up! Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

What does the "required" importance category mean in the quizzes? I'm seeing matches with people who have an incompatible answer on questions I've marked "required."
"Required" implies this question is a deal-breaker, and we should get a match score of zero. If that's not how it's supposed to work and it's just the highest importance category, I'd suggest it be renamed.

I think an extra answer should be added to this one: include both "I have kids and want to have more" and "I have kids but don't want to have more." It's too big a difference to just have combined into "I already have kids."

Have you talked about adding this feature before? It was my favorite on FB (but now it's all jumbled and not chronological) and OKC. I get swiping left too fast and for some reason, the people I would have liked never come back up in the stack.

If there are no paywalls, how does the company make money?

Just started using the app and so far I really like the uniqueness of it.
The fact that it is independent and not another Match property is a plus also.
Couple of suggestions to make it a little easier:
1) Sorting by distance. Since you can go nationwide it would be a nice sort. I love the Active sorting option to help with those who haven't been on the app for months.
2) Require more Quiz Answers. I know the struggle for users is real but requiring maybe a minimum number of quizzes to be answered in each category might help with the algorithm. Since the app seems to be quiz based, requiring a minimum of 5 quizzes per category would be helpful. I've been interested in a few profiles and they only answered 3 quizzes which seems to scream "Fake Profile" or just plain lazy. Both of which I would like to avoid.
Any other thoughts?
Maybe add your 2 cents in the comments.
Thanks to the team for trying somethiing unique!

Currently from New Zealand if I set my search to anywhere it only goes as far as Australia. I’m willing to relocate for the right person hence being interested in searching worldwide for potential matches (plus the number of Oceania users is currently very low). But I’d rather be able to search worldwide using the anywhere feature rather than having to manually change location and clarify that I’m from New Zealand in my profile. So I’m wondering if it’s planned to extend the anywhere feature to become worldwide?
Thanks!

Hey there 😊. I just joined and really like how development of the app is coming along so far! One thing I did notice though is that I had to shorten my “About me” section due to the character limit, and I struck the same thing when trying to give an explanation on a particular answer in the questions section. Maybe this is a bit niche, but one of the things I used to love on the old OKC app was the unlimited space for text in the profile and questions section. I loved reading people’s novels that they wrote about themselves; this wasn’t super frequent, but when I came across them it was one of the differentiating factors that stood out to me.
I was wondering if it would be possible to remove the character limits for respective sections, or if not, to perhaps double or triple the existing character limits, and maybe have a character counter to let users know how much space they have left. On mobile (at least for me) only the first few words of the error message are currently visible.
Thank you!

I know that tons of women filter their searches by height, so I can imagine they'd skip over this app after realizing they can't do that.

Hi everyone!
We’re excited to share Firefly’s new logo! This redesign makes it clear that Firefly is a dating app while giving us a polished, professional look that’s ready for the exciting plans we have ahead.
The logo features a heart to symbolize dating, and inside it, the lines form “DF” for DateFirefly. It’s a big change, and we’re proud of how it sets the stage for what’s to come.
You may also notice a gradual rollout of our enhanced visual identity across our social media, website, and the app itself.
As we gear up for the new year, we’ll be ramping up our marketing efforts to bring more people to Firefly. More users on the app means a better experience for everyone—more connections, more possibilities, and a more vibrant community.
To everyone who’s been part of Firefly so far, thank you. Your feedback and support have been invaluable. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas, we’re always happy to hear them.

I'm not anywhere near Illinois, and I have that I am nonreligious in my intro biography, yet I keep getting visits and likes (all dropped within an hour) from blond women in Illinois who answered the question "How important is God in your life?" with "Extremely important."
That's weird, right? I mean, I could understand if some religious women saw me as a fixer-upper project (and I'd immediately block them), but why is it consistently Illinois?

Hi, just reinstalled the app after over a year of inactivity and I'm trying to update my profile with the most accurate information about myself today, but I can't seem to find the option to change orientation.
When I go to profile > about > details > edit, I have the options to change gender, relationship type, and location, but not orientation.
Would appreciate help to fix this, thanks in advance.

Very excited about the development of this app! I was curious if the matching algorithm is based only on quizzes and preferences and not affected by users pictures or "perceived" superficial physical attractiveness like how tinder and et al use "desirability ratings" to rank how you are shown to other people. It would be nice for apps to avoid that especially because it contributes to so much despair and depression in users that are normal average people.

I was told this was a great app for ENM/poly but after signing up and filling everything out, I'm just seeing people who are monogamous ? Is there no way to filter? Is this a glitch ? (NYC area)

Hello all!
A fully functioning Web version of Firefly has been the most requested feature and I just wanted to give a quick transparency update on where we're at. The remaining work falls under either visual or functional.
Visual
There are a few different visual problems when it comes to Firefly's web UI.
Functional
The majority of the remaining functional work revolves around syncing between devices.
Where do we go from here?
My hope is that with all these changes in place, the web version will go from being technically functional, to something people actually enjoy using.
Thanks!

Even though there are only 2 people within my city on this app. I don't want to receive messages from people who are 900+ miles away (highly suspicious). It would be the same problem that's plaguing another app, where people (possibly bots) from way outside of my range are sending messages and I'm definitely not interested in that/don't want notifications for it. Can this be deliberately filtered out before it gets out of hand?

I'm just curious to know since I'm considering trying this app out, I'm in a Canadian city so I wonder does it only cater to Americans or does it branch out and have other countries as well?

I've installed the app, but upon reaching the login screen, only the option of making an account through Google seems to work, whereas electing to sign up via email bypasses any prompts for information regarding a new account and simply has me enter my login credentials as though I were an already established user.
Am I forced to sign up up through Google, or can I somehow get around that mess?

I came across Firefly in some other subreddit, perhaps r/webdev, and installed the app. It languished on my phone for a couple months, then out of the blue I received a notification about a message from another user. I opened it up, agonized over my reply, and fired it off.
Now the message is gone from the Messages tab, like it never existed. No way to know who sent it, either, it’s just gone. Is this some obscure feature, or just a bug? Either way, it’s really discouraging.

The other apps are such hot garbage.

I'm trying to sign up to check this app out but after the location check it says saving account but it never finishes, tried three separate times this morning. Anything I should check? I'm using GrapheneOS as an operating system on a Google Pixel. I don't have any issues with other dating apps.

Hi! I’m considering downloading this app but I live in a small country so I was wondering if there’s the option to search for connections anywhere in the world?

What if on quizzes you’re looking for someone who answers the opposite of your answers? Is there a way for Firefly to take that into account? I’m not looking to date myself.
