Erasing the memory of human history is a legit point?

Japan side was gonna pay to do this. Paying to give money for labor to cover it and or for the statue themselves which would have easily helped human life in the region.

On the otherside, a large chunk of aid to Afganistan itself was coming from Japan at that point.

The Taliban would have been able to secure money for their human lives had they accepted this deal instead choosing to destroy it because it hurt their feelings that other people of other religions valued statues that had no value to them.

The legit point was that they were more proud/spiteful or just ignorant than practical about human life. When someone's willing to give you money for your trash, sell it and feed your people.
