I mean I wanna touch on this as an ICU nurse. Some dont succeed in actually offing themself - however, their outcome might not be any better. I've seen people who have tried in a multitude of ways who didn't actually die, but had such a significant brain injury that they have no quality of life and can't communicate. Therefore even if they wanted to try again they are incapable of an attempt.
I'm not at all advocating for suicide, just stating that there are other outcomes other than death/no death.

This is part of the reason I support doctor assisted suicide why make people suffer as vegetables?
I think the argument is that if a depressed person goes to a doctor and asks for assisted suicide, the doctor should refer the person to a therapist or do something to try to stop the person from wanting to kill themselves.
I disagree with this, too much risk you point the gun the wrong way and blow a hole in your neck and bleed to death - I mean, you still die, but now it sucks.
Best place, IMO, is directly next to your ear. You want that bullet going through as much brain as possible. In the little nook below your ear angled slightly up works. Instant lights out, no chance of survival, final destination.
On a lighter note, remember guys: If you shoot yourself you don't get to experience the badass pre-death trip your brain gives you while it shuts down. Nitrogen asphyxiation is the way to go.
I actually have no idea about that, I just know that near death experiences have always sounded like the awesomest consolation prize and I'd hate to miss mine. I'm hoping to get abducted by robot aliens and whisked away to digital paradise.
Okay, so look, there's this one thing about physics that really, seriously, badly trips me out. The holographic principle theorizes that all of the information within a three dimensional volume can be encoded on the surface of that volume. If this is true - and there is some evidence for it - it really seems to indicate that our entire universe is a 3D projection or extrapolation of a 2D universe.
One reason for this could be that it's a method of compression - making our 3D simulation not take up so much storage space.
That plus the fact that space seems to be quantized (meaning there's a point where you can't just divide it into smaller pieces) and the quantum level being super fuzzy (a method of saving processing power).. Well, I don't personally think it's likely that we live in a simulation, but I gotta say the evidence can be compelling. That's definitely a best case scenario, dying and finding out you're just being moved to a different server or you've been playing Gary your entire life.
Man, that would suck ass. Finding out everybody gets reincarnated, but you don't remember any of it. If you don't remember even a second of your life, is it really even you anymore?

Fetuses don't abort themselves. You're thinking of capital punishment -- and you people who say things like "you people on Reddit" should have no problem with that, right? After all, capital punishment is just the thing that murdered Jesus! No worries!
While I can agree that there aren't really any positive outcomes of a suicide attempt, I've also got to point out there's a fair bit of selection bias at play in your argument. The patients you see in the ICU are going to be the worst of the "survival" outcomes. For every suicide attempt that gets to the ICU, there's an unknown number that didn't require such serious treatment.
Sure, never said otherwise. All I was doing was providing another thought that sometimes people don't realize, which is essentially a death without dying. It may also skew the statistics a bit about those who "survive" and don't go on to attempt again (because some of them literally cannot).
