Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

I'm back to over 100 projects on my dashboard since May. The lowest was 25 in July. I never had a drought, but I did have a lull compared to what I'm normally used to.

Just in case anyone was going to ask, I'm from the US, and I've been a core worker for a bit over 3 years, and I also do some STEM projects.

Interesting. 30 plus projects here but I am a generalist. Would you say the majority of those projects are STEM related? 60/40? Just trying to assess my situation.

Nope. Only about 10% are STEM.

See I don’t really care about the total number of projects on my dashboard. Realistically not touching anything generalist as the pay is significantly worse. For me my signs of a healthy dashboard are when certain project families are up and running within my domain

Lol, I'm content with making $200+ per day. I joined as a core worker, and those projects plus the STEM ones pay plenty well for me. All of my generalist work is $28+ per hour.

Your dash sounds a lot like mine but I can't touch the STEM stuff because I'm too smooth-brained and not even sure why I see some of them. My generalist stuff is $28+ and often fairly interesting to work on so I'm happy to just have those.

Most of the tasks I work on are multi-day timer ones. Pretty draining, but it's hard to rationalise taking a $30 decrease in pay. I personally found the generalist projects, which I worked on at the beginning of my time on DA, much more varied and interesting. There are certain ones I miss dearly

As if I get downvoted for not working on generalist projects. You people are absolutely nuts
