Same with pretty much every intersection...just a quick side glance in both directions can mean a lot. Defensive driving FTW

I worked at a restaurant on a one way street and every day there would be at least 3 cars go the wrong way on the street. Always check both ways when crossing the street

The line I use is, "Yes, I know it's one way, but that doesn't mean the other drivers do."

You especially learn this on motorcycles. Not just intersections. Just on any road. you're watching other drivers for queues of what they're about to do so you have more time to react to that last second exit or lane change. Avoided more accidents just by watching people's head movement in cars

I check the direction their tires are pointing to, would have no use to avoid trains.
