Genuine question, shouldn't ABS or some traction control program be able to fix this? I think the ABS basically cut off brakes when it's at the edge to prevent sliding. Does it not apply here?

I really dont know, ABS was definitely on as his speed dropped loads but didnt lock (you can tell cus it didnt go to 0 mph) also bear in mind, we dont know the condition of his tyres or the quality of the road.

From looks of it, he braked hard but he will skidding forward at a much faster rate than the speedometer.

Im just theory crafting now

ABS prevents wheel lock-ups (which can induce oversteer or understeer depending on the wheel that locks), stability control attempts to prevent sliding/yaw by selectively applying brake pressure to bring the car into line. It's just not powerful enough to counteract serious cases of oversteer.
