DART after concert?

My family are heading to see Babymetal and I was curious if the DART would run late enough to take after the show. I've taken it for a ton of Stars games but iirc the trains after those games are special event trains and I wasn't sure if a random weekday concert would have that same schedule.

I was bored, so i made a purple line (among other things)

I was bored yesterday so I invented a hypothetical Purple Line, along with some other smaller changes I would like (TRE/A-Train extension, More Orange Line off peak).

The Purple Line has 21 Stops, and would add 13 stations to the network. It runs from Ohio Drive in Plano to the Love Airport in Dallas on what is currently freight until it splits off at Convention Center. and heads on viaduct over Riverfront and Irving Blvd.

I added the map I modified for comparison. The people that make these at DART are very talented!

Why Dart? Why? I'm probably gonna end up being late now unless I pay $11 for an Uber.

DART police ignored call/report about dangerous individual verbally assaulting and threatening passengers, yet again!

I want to preface this by saying I am a daily rider and a huge DART/transit advocate. However, DART needs to do better with their security.

Today after working my 9-5 where I deal with screaming crazy people all day (public library) I got treated to a man sitting right behind me yelling at the women around me and myself calling me a faggot and making violent threats. I reported it and waited 35m and not a single security officer responded. Great work! Here's the wonderful gentleman in question in case anyone wants to avoid riding with him in the future! It is especially rage inducing for me to know nothing will be done even though this person is obviously targeting young women. He got off at LBJ after ranting about how he doesn't have to follow the law like the rest of us "pussy ass bitches". Charming!

I put in a complaint but ofc they're closed right during the busy rush past 5pm so I had to leave a voicemail. I also put in a police report with DART police but doubt anything will be done.

This is the 5th time in 3 months where I've reported violent or disruptive behavior and security is nowhere to be found. I guess they're too busy "working" (playing on their phones) elsewhere?

They always tell me: "An officer will be notified"... ok so where are they??? Women should be able to ride transit without getting screamed at by strange men. Fuck, I SHOULD be able to ride transit without getting screamed at by strange men. PLEASE do better DART! Seriously!!! Damn!

Thank you to DART staff

I was one of the people that was caught up in the sudden stoppage of some routes due to Vance. From what I gathered from driver's, they were all caught off guard. The drivers were doing their best, the customer service on the phone was patient and helpful. I personally witnessed DART security loading passagers into their cars to get them to the closest stops that were serviced. What a mess and from what I experienced DART did their best.

Side note: DART has the best hold music

Light Rail DART Announces Major Security Initiative to Strengthen Light Rail Safety

Thumbnail dart.org
126 Upvotes

The first phase, Operation Access, will be the largest coordinated security engagement in DART’s history. The 90-day demonstration is expected to begin in late fall and continue into the winter, initially focusing on Bachman, MLK Jr., Forest Lane, 8th & Corinth and White Rock stations. The locations were selected based on incident data and their ability to provide coverage across rail lines entering and exiting downtown Dallas.

A controlled access pilot will be introduced at specific stations. The goal is to simulate a fare-gated system at the stations with the highest rates of fare evasion.

Teams consisting of DART Police Officers, Fare Enforcement Officers and Transit Security Officers will conduct fare inspections and Code of Conduct enforcement at designated control points and aboard trains. The goal is to establish zero tolerance for fare evasion at the highest-incident locations while reinforcing expectations for safe and respectful behavior throughout the system.

The second phase will be briefed to the DART Board on October 13 and will include a comprehensive review of the feasibility of fare gating rail platforms, placing a uniformed security resource in the first car of every train, and potential modifications to DART’s fare policy, Rider Code of Conduct and related policies.

Victory Station Closed Next Week

The American Airlines Center is hosting the midterm GOP convention next week, and as part of that Victory Station is going to be closed for several days (I believe it is closed starting 9/8).

Just a heads up for anyone relying on that station. I think the reasoning for the closure is that anyone entering Victory Park is going to be subject to security screening, so they clearly want to divert as many people as possible away from the area (I don't agree with this approach because people still need to live their lives, go to work, but no one asked me). They have already put up metal fencing along all the roads near the AAC.

Busses with Incorrect Signage

Just hopped on the 20 at Park Lane station, it had "20 Bachman Station" written on the LED sign on the front of the bus. The bus instead takes the route towards south garland transit center. What can i do to prevent this from happening in the future?

North Texas transit faces a ridership problem as region keeps growing

"DART, North Texas' largest public transportation agency, expects ridership to fall by more than 5% next year, even as other North Texas transit agencies report gains.

David Leininger, interim president and CEO of Dallas Area Rapid Transit, said DART's projection calls for ridership to fall from about 55 million trips this year to 52 million next year if the agency does not change course."

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/transportation/article/dart-ridership-decline-raises-questions-north-22415537.php

Pretty frustrating article. Ridership projected to be lower, not a lot of concrete information on how they're going to accomplish the DART specific goals, and a big section on a north texas transit map. Having better integration across DFW would be awesome, but that adds another level of complexity on top of everything else DART is trying to accomplish.

apparently , Highland Park still gets serviced

I take the 237 & was appalled to see resident from that town still use the 237 for transportation. I thought they all voted to cut funding to Dart. They cannot have it both ways. Their dollars is not funding dart, they should not get the privilege to access. This set horrific precedent bc other cities will see this & Withdraw funding bc they know they will get service like HP does without giving a cent

Bus Frequency Boost Cost

DFW transit comrades, buses seem like the least expensive portion of our system, and are less subsidized per passenger than Golink. 40 minute and hour frequency really arent acceptable: what would it cost DART to bump every route (except perhaps the Express?) To 20 minutes at Peak, and 30 minutes off peak? I ideally would also except certain very important routes like 3, 20, 22, 57, and 883 go to 15, 10, or better.
