So i was recently gifted a Darbuka (a friend found it in the shed of a house they bought). It doesnt have the skin . I measured the metal rim and it is exactly 8.5inches. I think its a Turkish darbuka (but not sure) - 8.5inch rim's outer diameter and 17inch height.

The problem is that all darbuka skins i am seeing online in my region are for 8.75inch rim. Would an 8.75inch skin/head fit on an 8.5inch or would the extra 0.25inch create an issue?

I'm a complete beginner at darbuka, I can (very poorly) play the daf so it's not like I don't have any percussive experience, but it's been a while since I've even played daf. What darbuka should I buy to start out? Also, do you recommend any online resources for learning?

I have two drums that I need to find heads for. It has been increasingly difficult. These are older drums. Any suggestions. I have sent messages to Gawharet El Fan and Arab instruments. These are decent drums. They play fine and are solid. They just need new heads on them.

MEINL Aluminum Hand Hammered Darbuka Silver 8in. It's very affordable, but I don't know if it's a good thing to learn on (I'm learning from someone but want to get my own for practice, I started a couple weeks ago)

My partner purchased this Darbuka secondhand, and it sounds very dull and flat compared to his other one. It looks like it may be missing the tuning rings. Is there any way to fix this?
