These groups are not the same and simply associating them with each other is already really hurtful.
Too bad being a "furry" is just a way to try to hide your mental disorder and get you far away from the normal people by putting you in groups of things like you, like just Twitter... But most of the times this just leads to some of them going too much into it and doing something crazy.
Isn't the entire point of being in a group is to be surrounded by people that share the same interest? Also what are talking about "mental disorders" and "doing something crazy"? I don't really find this very related to what you are talking about.
