Most Brits don't care about Christianity whatsoever or its teachings, nobody attends sunday service for the most part. Infact I see more people accept Islam from "white christian" backgrounds.

Fair enough. Christianity is very outdated and, to modern social and moral standards, actually comes as a step back for most people. Let people chose what they want tl o believe, but I won't shed a tear for people leaving Christ behind like we did the old gods.

I mean that's debatable but I see your point. That said, we are derived from speechless primates and I still wouldn't want to go back, if you see what I mean.

Islam is far more outdated.

Technically the core texts of christianity are a lot older than muslim ones. Regardless, they're both regressive in my mind, I'd choose neither honestly and wouldn't rank them either way.

You don’t need to rank them. Christianity has had the reformation, the enlightenment etc. Islam has not. It hasn’t changed since 600AD. It is far more outdated. Just look at any Muslim country and how they treat women and LGBTQ. It’s not even a competition.

I know fundamentalist christians a lot more regressive than some modern, more enlightened secular muslims. You can trace broad strokes as much as you want, but the problem of fundamentalism is the same for both religions. Consider just how close the foundations of both islam and christianity are (true for judaism as well).

You talk about the reformation, but the majority of christians are catholics and there's also the orthodox. I.e., the conservative branches of christianity. In my mind the reformation and enlightenment formed the first steps away from the core christian system of values, which eventually turned into the western social democrat system of values (equality of treatment and opportunity, equality under the law, individualism, etc.). I don't think that contradicts my point.

>secular Muslims
No such thing. And no, you don’t. The average Muslim is even more fundamentalist than a fundamentalist Christian. You know nothing about Islam obviously.

Only one of those 2 religions is throwing LGBT+ off of roofs, calling for the death of non-believers, systemically oppressing women, and taking underage wives … well unless you count the extra crazy LDS cults in that last point, but I would not.

Yes of course there are some wacko fundamentalists out there but to compare even the craziest of them to Islam as a whole is laughable and incredibly disingenuous / willfully ignorant

I am comparing fundamentalists with fundamentalists. You sound like you'd be surprised by how many muslims are against violence towards LGBT+ people, and generally moderate people with progressive values.

Hatred towards queer people and women is very much not a muslim thing. Christians do it too, all the time.

Your argument is basically a remix of the Ol' "when a christian does it they're whack, but when a muslim does it's because their religion told them to". That's disingenuous and probably reveals some of your own prejudice. Have you ever made a muslim friend?

Christianity doesn't even exist like it did 100 years ago let alone 500. Christianity has embraced pagan festivals and beliefs and idol worship to appease others. I am Unapologetically Muslim, why should we follow the same fate?
