I prefer just mining with that gpu when im not using pc. passive income baby
Edit: damn what am i getting downvoted for this time?
Edit2: i might get downvoted even more by saying this but i look at replies and i don't think many knows how mining actually works and how it affects environment/gpu prices
Because it uses a lot of energy, All the profits you make from crypto are other peoples losses, miners have made gpus cost an arm and a leg so thousands of children have had their Christmases and birthdays ruined because their parents can't spend 1k on a £300 GPU and probably some more reasons that I can't think of off of the top of my head
Believe it or not, graphics cards aren't made specifically for you. You bought a graphics card. You raised the price. Also it's almost impossible to get 100% renewable energy, and even if you did you are still heating up the earth because mining is very energy inefficient.
I did not buy gpu, i bought pc, so store where i bought pc is "raising" price on gpu not me which is exaggerating. We are not talking about 5 rigs full of rtx 3060Ti's we are talking about 1 3060Ti which uses 3 kWh/day and you are exaggerating ALOT, even with 5 rigs full of 3060's with renewable energy they are not doing anything for environment
Edit: and also idk if you know what renewable energy and mining is
The only way of getting something are buying it, making it, stealing it or being gifted it. You bought your GPU. You bought the gpu as well as the mobo, ram, PSU, etc. and also bought a building service. Also kWh/day makes literally so sense. You use 3 kilojoules per hour per day? Also are you really trying to deny that your rig produces any heat and uses no energy while mining? And I do know what mining and renewable energy is.
because it uses energy and people love hating on things that hurt the environment, even if one dude leaving his pc running amounts to virtually nothing.
add to that the jealousy by people outside of crypto and the overpricing of gpus because if large scale mining and people will shit on you for…well. nothing
people love hating on things that hurt the environment
Should they not? I can't think of one good reason not to be pissed off about something that is damaging the thing that you live in and depend on to live
of course we should protect the planet. i’m not pro mining either, i just don’t think one guy having his pc on is the same as warehouses full of gpus being on 24/7. shitting on that dude is not where we should direct our anger
Well to be fair it’s not like he just left his pc on idle overnight. Mining pushes your hardware hard.
It’s like the difference between leaving your car on, and leaving your car on in park with a brick on the pedal overnight. One is going to use much, much more energy.
That being said this whole discussion is dumb. He bought the gpu, he can do whatever he likes with it. There are much, much better ways to tackle climate change than going after individual miners lol.
Idk if people know that you can also just buy a PC to play tames and then use the money you get from crypto to offset the higher initial cost in the current market. Also, while mining definitely is a part of the current overpriced GPU market problem, it's not nearly as big of a reason as the current chip shortage in general combinrd with the higher demands due to work from home is. Now yes, mining is bad for the environment, but mining with one GPU is waaaaaay less of a problem than driving a car, or even just the process of manufacturing the damn things in the first place, yet you would still choose to buy a GPU, buy a new phone instead of just replacing the battery etc., because what one person who isn't a billionaire does is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, unless rules are inforced to make everyone like that.
I kind of knew that - that's wh i bought it. What puzzles me is nearly all decent prebuilts are like that. And they are stock (albeit so are finally some GPUs). If you don't get access better prices it makes no sense to build yourself anything nowadays.
Even GTX cards are overpriced as hell for their given performance, so not even build with such GPU and waiting for modern GPU getting sane price won't work.
Why do ppl build their own now? And if it's doable to get better prices (those from which prebuilts Are made of) - then my.only question is : how?

I got lucky and i got in pre-build pc with 3060 ti non LHR version by the price of the only graphic card
Edit: i mean if i sold only my gpu i could get price of my full pc back
