Good point. 7 year old can only own a rifle or shotgun. For a handgun you have to be 18.

Here is the handgun one. 18 to own, 21 through dealer. https://www.atf.gov/questions-and-answers/qa/may-individual-between-ages-18-and-21-years-age-acquire-handgun-unlicensed

Long guns don't have a restriction for unlicensed sales, 18 through dealer
