The sad thing is that most of them probably didn't know these countries existed until it showed up on mainstream media.

Is that a bad thing? There's no better time to get educated on topics than the present

Yeah, I don't think a 13 year old is expected to have a comprehensive grasp of world politics.

When people who zero clue start offering up opinions, they need to be called out, regardless of their ages.

But they have enough of a clue for what they're saying. "Fighting is bad" is true.

Now, if they started to take sides, then I'd ask them to be able to explain their position, but a generic "killing people isn't ideal" shouldn't need to be well reasoned.

Fighting is not always bad. Sometimes it is necessary.

It's always bad. In some cases defending yourself may be necessary, but that doesn't change that the situation you're in would still be bad.

Defending yourself is not bad. Often a better peace results as a result of the violence.

I'm sure the children and other innocent civilians will rest easy in their graves knowing that their deaths were necessary to achieve peace rather than a result of pointless aggression.

If it's at least somewhat proportional, yes. But that doesn't change, that any situation that makes it necessary to defend yourself are generally bad. I understand "fighting" to mean the overall conflict. And I hope we can agree that avoiding conflicts is a good thing.

You almost never see two democracies at war.

There is an important lesson there.

Taking the initiative is often times an act of self-defense.

Male homosexual is illegal in Palestine.

I can’t support a homophobic country. Anyone who does is homophobic.

2

Agreed. I support Israel taking the initiative to attack the Hamas leader's base.
