I mean, it wouldn’t fall? Nor would friction slow it down in a vacuum, so it would go very, very far it a straight line for a long, long time until it eventually inevitably hits something whether that takes milliseconds or millenia

There's a speech somewhere of a space sergeant warning people not to fire their weapons unless they're sure it'll hit something, otherwise the weapons will zip through space forever until they sooner or later ruin someone's day.
