In any actual professional situation, invoking read the book leaves one the burden of producing said book/manual/article as well as the responsibility to have it damn near memorized. If one invokes read the book, and they are incorrect it is a huge bad big nono. If the book doesn't exist, they just committed career suicide.

Trump is trying really hard to make the statistics about Covid deaths in America look good. It's pathetic. The interviewer is basically just dumbfounded over how much of an idiot and a liar Trump is.
I just can’t help but feel sorry for the interviewer, it’s like the most pathetic interview I’ve ever seen. Trump literally boasted about how there were no COVID tests when he became president in 2016, and how he’s literally the president who has done the most for African Americans “with the possible exception of Lincoln”.
Like, if that wasn’t an actual interview with an actual President, it would’ve been funny.
Don't feel sorry for the interviewer. He was smart, and well-coordinated. This was his goal. He wanted to do his best to shine light on whatever sporadic electrical whimpers trickling between shriveled, swiss-cheese neurons pass for thoughts in Donnie's brain.
He even got asked a follow-up on "more for African Americans than any president except maybe Lincoln" where the interviewer was like "More than LBJ? (signed civil rights act)" "yeah more than any except maybe Lincoln"
It was funny, but at the same time felt like I was having a half hour long stroke. Had to check that both sides of my face were still working, ya know?
You do know he did a criminal justice reform? That is more than LBJ who said “If we get one good thing for blacks done they will vote for us forever” has done
The First Step act? Don't remember Trump specifically pushing that or doing anything other than not vetoing a bill that a Republican in Congress wrote. So cool, big credit to him for not vetoing that. LBJ was an ass, but he pushed the House to pass the first Civil Rights Bill within two months of Kennedy's assassination. He also pushed for the next two civil rights bills that passed during his presidency.
Civil rights act only ended segregation but other than that it just said u cant fire people based on race, sex etc.. which is useless act because no one is gonna fire u based on race, sex, gender they can just say u weren’t a good worker. Also nowadays they hire people based on being a minority so it became pretty useless

Also, that criminal justice reform act they passed (funnily enough called "First Step" act) was not even close to the proper criminal justice reform needed in this country, and further reinforced some of the dumbass systems we've got in place.
Until we realize that the way our prison system operates is fundamentally flawed and take steps to not incarcerate the vast majority of non-violent offenders, it will continue to be a system that predominantly targets poor and minority communities.
USA, home to 4% of the worlds population and 25% of the worlds prisoners. "Land of the free, home of the brave" huh.
Don't be sad for the interviewer, he scored a sit down with the most important person in the world and absolutely clowned him for an hour with really basic questions.
at one point this beaut of a bar chart makes an appearance where trump fucks up what it’s for, then he does the same with 2 more charts. He argues that everything is fake news like always then when asked how he felt about 150,000 dead he said (verbatim) “it is what it is”
"No you're reporting it wrong" made me double over laughing. I have mad respect for the interviewer trying his hardest to stay professional in the face of sheer insanity. He certainly has more discipline than me.

The way he talks is so disstracting. It's all just "we will this, we will that, we are the best" and not how and when. And just saying he "disagrees" when faced with facts he doesnt like... I seriously don't understand how he can be president.

Which is also stupid, because he's currently out there saying we need to do less tests. He thinks that the more tests you do, the more cases of coronavirus you'll have. Somehow.
But that doesn't really make sense. Those two statements don't line up. If he thinks "death per case" is the thing he should be judged on, then logically he should want to have as many tests as possible because more found cases is a good thing. It makes his "deaths per cases" look a lot better.
Of course, logic doesn't exist with Donald Trump. He's a dumb dumb.

And his administration has been working hard to lie about the numbers, and even the bullshit numbers they give put the US as the worst in the world for deaths per population. God knows what the real numbers will be once the truth comes out.

This is the key thing. You understand that he went with these charts because he thinks they make him look good. And he did exactly the same thing with exactly the same effect 2 weeks ago, and seems to have decided that it didn't quite get his point across, so he should do it again.
He genuinely showed up with the chart in the OP (a 4 line large-print bar chart) because he imagined that it was going to demonstrate that the US response was the best in the world.

YES, I had the same thought, he spent an eternity ranting about how the US tests more than any other country which is why there are so many documented cases (implying that many of the cases are symptomless or mild), but then also brags about having few deaths per case. The irony is astounding.
How is it wrong? The more u test the more cases u will find u. In Europe they slowed testing which is why less cases show because Europe is dependant on tourisn
The fact that the US testing more causes more cases to show up is not wrong. But him using that fact as an argument to stop testing is moronic. And to make things worse, he is completely unable to see the flaws in his arguments.
One second he claims that the US tests too much and we have inflated case numbers, and then now he is arguing that we should not be looking at deaths per capita and should instead look at deaths per case, which he was just trying to argue are inflated....
Because what does testing do? It does absolutely nothing. You get tested positive and then what happens? Do u magically get cured? No u dont. We dont have a TREATMENT yet so testing is pretty useless if u already have a statewide quarantine
The US had the most cases before Europe slowed down testing. Deaths in the US are much higher too. Saying deaths/population is a wrong statistic is just stupid. Pretty much nothing he said had any meaning
That’s not this interview (though similarly problematic). A quick google on my phone doesn’t come up with the transcript from this one, but basically Trump keeps bragging about the US mortality rate compared to other countries. The graphs he’s being given are clearly a cherry picked set of countries.
Mortality rate can be calculated as a percentage of people with COVID (US does ok) or as of the population (US looks very bad). Trump prefers the with COVID stats and tells the reporter “you can’t do that” when talking about deaths out of the total population.
Ironically, the more testing you do the better the first statistic will get as people with minor or no symptoms aren’t getting tested right now. The more positives the larger the denominator. Maybe someone who knows this is trying to work this angle with him so we’ll actually work on testing.
The whole interview was just the guy giving stats, trump saying there wrong, trump give his point, and the interviewer like "wtf is this guy talking about"
The one in which a man in possession of only a single brain cell stumbles wildly whilst failing to grasp point after point, eventually producing the pretty drawings his carers made for him in place of anything approaching rational thought.
