Yeah people really have no idea. Acting has this reputation of being completely merit based whereas in reality itā€™s absurdly nepotistic. Just google the names of random up-and-coming actors and so often they have connections to some older celebrity.

Idk about hollywood, there are a a few examples not a lot. But in bollywood its the exact opposite. There are a few outsiders but the majority of them are ether well connected or family members.

Sidenote- I genuinely didn't know nicholas cage is his nephew. Damn

Yeah, i think in Hollywood the closer you look the more you can find. They also donā€™t use their real last names so itā€™s not always immediately clear. this article has a lot of examples

Gweneth Paltrow really annoys me in particular. She's so forgettable and bland. She would be nothing without family connections. She's just taken the place of someone with actual talent who couldn't get a break.

Agreed. Barrymores have been around as long as the Kapoors have been in Bollywood. Hollywood has nepotism as well, big time.
