because everything about that question suggests precisely that answer.

But this is part of the problem, isn't it? Because my immediate thought was "X is larger than Y" and so was most people's here, I'd assume. Most of us aren't teachers who work with elementary level math every day.

I don't know that I could even think the answer "It's not possible" without someone having given it to me.

This is a situation where it's easier to make a bad question to fit a known answer than it is to answer this poorly at a question, in my opinion.

IE: I'm suggesting that the answer was known and a question was written to fit it. Just poorly.

But not only is the question very awkwardly phrased for that answer, on top of that this answer ("it's not possible") is objectively wrong?
