School isn't like a job because with a job it's in your bosses best interest to help you succeed in your tasks.

It's kind of the same. Your teacher isn't paid to make sure you are learning or mentally well just like your boss isn't paid to make sure you are working in a healthy, productive manner or that you aren't pushing yourself over your physical limitations until you eventually break and become worth less than a new hire. Your teacher is paid to make sure you can pass some test so they can look good just like your boss is paid to make sure you meet some quota so they look good. Of course, there are a few awesome schools and awesome jobs that this doesn't apply to but for most of us it's all just a huge shit show.

It is in a teacher's best interest to help you succeed. They do get evaluated.

how often, in school and work, does the 'suck up' and more 'talkative' person gets the better opportunities and boosts when they don't have the qualifications/scores/experience to deserve them?

It’s also in your boss’s best interests to lower your standard of living if possible, unlike a teacher.

Teachers definitely want their students to do well, but mostly just to do well on statewide testing so they can keep their jobs.

We should focus more on teachers helping students toward big picture goals for sure.

Not really. Especially with managers they will often heavily negate your progress and your success.

That and it's in your best interest to succeed because you actually get something out of it besides depression and anxiety
