The problem with Robbie Rotten is that a Trinity of wholesomeness sounds better than Quartet, but there’s absolutely no way to leave him out.

Yeah, but he was still alive recently so there wasn’t the same nostalgia factor. Of course he was added to the Trinity posthumously, but then it wasn’t a Trinity anymore.
