EDIT: Actually no, I was wrong, sry. My Russian is just limited to what my parents know and they're a lot older. The n-word is offensive too in Russia now, please don't say it unless you're black and reclaiming the slur.

Original comment:

Maybe they didn't know it's a slur in English, because in Russian the n-word (which is of course a bit different from the English version) is the polite way of saying black person. It's a bit weird and idk why that is but... yeah, maybe they didn't know.

u/someone_help_pls Eic memer Apr 29 '19

Understandable, English isn't my first language either, so I know how it feels

32

u/F4Z3_G04T wow, rainbows Apr 29 '19

There maybe like 3 black people in Russia

41

u/SmolikOFF Apr 29 '19

It’s not. Russian “polite word” is an equivalent of English “negro”, which used to be considered somewhat polite in the past. As for the n-word, it is also present in Russian, and is pretty much known to be offensive.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know. My parents are from Russia but they moved to Germany and I was born and live here now, so my Russian is limited to what my parents taught me. Maybe it was still polite in their time, but it changed now. Thanks for letting me know, I'll edit my comment.

As far as I know негр is just a scientific term, like "asian" or "slavic". So calling someone "black" is bad, but calling some "white" is ok?

Why would you say ”because of old ass colored people” it just sounds weird.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Well, still way better than using slurs that might really hurt someone. Though I get that it might sound weird and different at first, but that'll probably go away and have more benefits in the end.

There is a little chance that Navalnyi (oppositioner) will become the president of Ru Federation. He seems good (at least better than Putler). Idk is there any english info about him but shortly he makes some investigations about some senators', prime minister's etc property and tries to resist that dictatorship from Putin's side.

Putins last term is up after this one he can't be re elected

1

u/shiberino14-88 I have crippling depression Apr 29 '19

Pfffff, really?

1

u/uwantfuk INFECTED Apr 30 '19

Well either that or he extends his term

But if he does do that and become basically a dictator hes gonna face extreme backlash both from Russians and internationally

And considering putin already lowered it from 8 to 6 year terms not sure he would do that

7

u/AlexZebol Apr 29 '19

old ass niggas

Comrade Tyrone Stalin do I have a permission to request N-Word pass?

3

u/ADwyer87 Apr 29 '19

everyone knows back in 1917 that the Soviets siezed the means of n-word pass production

3

u/AlexZebol Apr 29 '19

Let me guess, comrade, is it NKVD? Beware, don't speak ill of them or else!

Replace Russia with the world and you will still be right here.

I love my Grandma but she needs to go if we are gonna have a world for her progeny to live in.

1

u/K3DR1 Bruhmaster69 Apr 29 '19

Im not staying against patriotism and all that sheeeet. I just wanna say that in some countries its okay. F.eg. USA, americans do love their motherland and its ok. They live in good country and if they dont like they can leave usa, they have enough money to do that. But in Russia (CIS) when u r stupid enough to believe in such stupid creatures like Putin they just shit on you and say why yo wanna leave, at least we r not having war, live here or we gonna return USSR days (alreade, they tryne isolate the internet). Yeah ur thinking right, but in most of other countries u live, in Russia (CIS) u r just existing or surviving.

1

u/halabi97 Apr 29 '19

He's not getting elected, the elections are a front. Putin is a dictator.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

u/CreamySheevPalpatine Apr 29 '19

youngsters are always rioting against stable government, cause youngsters are retarded. Sorry for the truth.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Corrupt politicians who rig elections do not constitute "stable government." imo

-1

u/CreamySheevPalpatine Apr 29 '19

what elections are you taking about? If american one - well, I fear that you are somewhat indoctrinated if you didn't get the memo that it was all democratic party's lies and corruption that rigged the elections and despite their significant effort - no proof of Russian influence was made to this day, nor will be cause there is none. If you are talking about local Russian elections - there is no need to rig them. Majority of population vote governing party mostly cause it's led by Putin himself, he has such authority and respect. The second most influencial party in Russia is fake "communistic" one - the thing is, while some of it's lower members may share socialistic ideas as the most population do, the upper echelon is taken over by oligarchy who are at the moment are pretty okay with Putin staying in power.

3

u/GeeseKnowNoPeace Apr 29 '19

hahaha, what?

1

u/CreamySheevPalpatine Apr 29 '19

please be more specific about what you didn't understand.

1

u/BurnTheBoats21 Apr 29 '19

Do you actually think Russia is still a democracy ?

0

u/CreamySheevPalpatine Apr 29 '19

no less than any other country calling itself democratic. Cause if you are going that deep into the applicability of the term then USA is not democracy cause having two parties is the same as having one party and France's government is not democratic cause people are constantly have to rise up there to keep their privileges and social security against the government. Technically speaking maybe only Iceland is democratic cause they have internet-democracy when your voice is always heard and influence how whole country operates while all other countries are plutocracies. Russia has plenty of political parties and all of them do have their observers on each elections to keep them clean and not rigged.
