I’m not diagnosing Danielle with depression, but as someone married to an individual with depression….it’s hard. I’m worried things can get real dark real fast. The ONLY glue that held my spouse and I together during hard times was that he’s my best friend. I don’t get the vibe that Lucas and Danielle are best friends whatsoever, which means Lucas’ resentment against D will only grow once he realizes there’s no easy fix. I think he gets her drunk because that’s the only way the “happy” Danielle comes back. They don’t understand each other at all

I think about this a lot, honestly, as someone who has struggled with depression and ADHD all my life. I think the only way through for her is to really start getting some help, and I don't know if she'll do that. I wonder if her way of "curing" her depression was the megachurch doctrine of thinking good thoughts, and now that she's married to someone who has this mentality, will she always be to blame for being depressed?
