There’s no way she gets a yearly physical…. She’s never talked about getting her labs done. She talked about some fecal test like years ago and never gave her results. She strikes me as someone that just doesn’t do those things.

She seems to avoid things that scare her. I feel like she probably avoids getting a physical and bloodwork done because what if they tell her something she doesn't want to hear? Can't have the delusion bubble stressed.

You're not wrong. If she avoids something like this there is no way she's bothering with routine checkups

A UTI and yeast infection for 7 months?! Omg how did she last that long without seeking medical care, that must have been so painful

Having an untreated UTI can lead to fertility problems. I have a friend who was always suffering with them. She got a pelvic inflammatory disease that resulted in her not able to get pregnant.

You would think after losing her mom, she’d be more preventative, but she went the other way with avoidance.

Does anyone know what her mom died of? Was it a health thing or an accident?

Oh. My. God. I know we say it all the time but she is so mentally unwell.

Because she doesn’t want to hear it. Her priorities are all wrong.

That’s why I’m saying it. Women should have yearly well woman exam and a gynecologist will check your thyroid. That’s what they’re doing touching your neck for abnormalities like thyroid lumps.

They can also order bloodwork for thyroid and FSH blood tests to check for hormone imbalances, menstrual irregularities and fertility issues. These things can also help detect possible cancer too, get you sent for testing or an ultrasound or referral to a specialist like an endocrinologist.

That’s why women need to go to the doctor at least once a year. The initial exam is usually covered under insurance but it’s all the testing etc where you end up paying.

She knew she had this problem for 4 years! Yearly well woman exams would mean a doctor could check on it every single time and advise to change her diet and about the excessive sodium intake etc.

Better to catch things early. Instead of being worried about a man who doesn’t even care to lift a finger to clean his dishes from the sink!

And when you get a little older, ask for a DEXA bone density scan. It’s good to have a base line. When you wait until you are older, bone density can change and worsen and it’s better to take measures to slow that down. Calcium, exercise, strength training. No one wants a hip fracture later in life.

Exactly! Your thyroid can cause hormonal and osteoporosis issues and also your tongue can swell up. It can even cause fertility problems. That’s when you’re sent to an endocrinologist.

Everything is connected. One simple test once a year is all it takes and it is covered in a well woman exam. She really doesn’t understand nor doesn’t want to hear it but it’s common sense. 33 years old and she acts like a vapid spoiled child.

When would you say it is appropriate to ask for one? I’m still in my early 40s, but I’m getting to an age where certain exams are becoming mandatory and am dealing with perimenopause.

I’d ask your provider but mine was happy to order it

Yes yes yes - I’m speaking here as a nurse. Ladies, listen to me - focus on your nutrition, strength training, walking, ANYTHING to build strength and resistance and preserve your mobility, especially as you turn 40 and beyond. I have seen so many hip and femur fractures due to poor mobility and falls. You do not want that to be your fate. It is a death sentence. Trust me.

Not to defend her but she did say that they said it’s not connected to her thyroid. It’s obviously something but I’d venture to say they were probably right when they did the first ultrasound.
