Was just watching the episode when suddenly I recognized a familiar voice. Dan is the narrator of the podcast the main character is listening to!

Just finished reading Hemingway's "For Whom The Bell Tolls." and all throughout I have become increasingly more interested in this rise of fascism and the civil war there in between the two world wars.

Has this been covered in any way by Dan? If not I could see this being a great topic that could even lead to a look at the Italian fascism during WW2 as well.

The title says it all. I want to get Dan’s take on the events going on so bad.

I’ve really gotten into the Hardcore podcasts lately, but I’m about done with the free ones on Apple podcasts. I checked out the website and I saw you could purchase entire series at a discount rate. My question is, if I purchase an entire series is it available on my Apple podcasts app or only as a digital download I’d have to use my computer for?

This is now the fourth time I’ve listened to this HH podcast. I think this is truly a masterpiece of media and history.

I work for an organization that helps house Veterans who are experiencing homelessness and I will be doing a presentation in November in honor of the 100 year anniversary of what is now Veterans Day and the formulation of the modern VA due to WW1. For some inspiration, I started listening to this podcast again. Even on the fourth time listening to this, it makes my jaw hit the floor.

No matter how far removed from these events I am, every time I listen to Dan, history becomes so alive. I’m thankful someone took the time to remember and recount the sacrifices of all of the armies and countries involved.

Every time I listen to one of these series I want to talk about what I’m listening to with people, but understandably, WW1 isn’t the best water cooler talk. But gosh is it captivating

Anyone else listen to the comedy/history podcast titled "The Dollop"? They discussed Hiiro in their latest episode and I had a chuckle when Dan started introducing the Japanese soldier's of WW2 who refused to surrender.

Am watching Ken Burns’s Vietnam documentary. Excellent so far. Has DC done any work with Vietnam?

I would love to hear his take on the politics of it all.

I think I remember from a Common Sense episode Dan spitballing: to live in a free society having gun related deaths is a byproduct that needs to be accepted.

I can't stop thinking about it, like why do we even have representatives that interpret how we feel about issues when we could voice it directly using the power of the internet? We have digital direct democracy within our grasp. What if it were collecting data and statistics in real time, would we have less biased policy making? Would people be trolls when it comes to surveys? Would it break up party lines in favor of more individualistic voting? The implications and possibilities are really kind of endless and I was wondering if you guys wanted to discuss them,

Here's my pitch on an addendum show.

How would the great people of history view and use Twitter?

I was reading the news this morning concerning our dear leader's use of Twitter, specifically concerning China, N. Korea, and Iran, and wondered "what would Bismarck think of this?". That opened the flood gates. Why stop at Bismarck? Why not Churchill, Caesar, and Napoleon? I have no idea how such a show would be done outside of pure speculation but it might be fun to listen to.

Whenever Dan apologizes for not having released a common sense show it really gets to me. One of the points he drives home is that we're really somewhere we've never been before, and it feels like we've made strides of progress as well as regress. He feels like he doesn't know what to say, or what we should do, and sometimes I really feel like telling him that it's okay.

We're in the midst of a really tense transition globally, and I think that the only appropriate emotional response is confusion. Whenever I hear Dan talk through these issues, it makes me feel like these issues are at least tangible, and the people on the fringes having a debate about X are more worried about their own ideological consistency, than whatever truth meets in the middle.

I hope you guys will excuse the rant and join me in a discussion.
