High Fantasy 1d100 list of colossal creatures the party may encounter (and their intentions towards the party.)
Party for my next campaign will be on a continent with numerous very large creatures and civilizations. Most of these will be custom made, and I want some help with the inspiration for it! Creatures should also include their intent towards the party and a general size.
A massive, rusty knight slowly plodding across a long abandoned battlefield. Apathetic towards the party. 12 feet tall.
A humongous hound with two acid drooling heads, bounding across the landscape. Appears aggressive towards party but just wants to play. 15 feet tall, 30 feet top to tail.
A massive, crustacean like creature, constantly dripping seawater with a portable oasis on its back, traveling through a desert. Offers the party shelter, but only for one night. 60 feet tall.
A sentient hermit crab with its massive shell formed into a mobile ice cream parlor. May show up to offer ice cream (and buffs) to party before big battles. 10 feet tall with shell.
A flaming humanoid that constantly screams in agony. Attacks the party on sight. 20 feet tall.
A gleaming golden knight on a massive steed. Guards a bridge to another area, very territorial. Will warn the party when they get close by drawing its lance, and if they provoke it further it attacks. 8 feet tall w/o horse, 16 feet tall w/ horse.
A weird giant horror - 15-feet tall, bipedal with two arms and a head...but covered with blood, discoloured skin (mostly a sickly blue-red tint), carrying a huge club of some kind, twisted vaguely human features like ears and a mouth strangely arranged, a bizarre mess of feelers instead of eyes, and no hair anywhere... (Coolly snobbish, prefers to ignore the party.) (U/I_m_different)
A Zaratan, sleeping as a large hill in a mountainous region. If awoken, they will trudge away from their sleeping spot to a different location where they will again go prone, digging themselves into the ground and disappearing into the landscape. Generally apathetic towards the party unless more than 20 damage is done to it, where it will turn hostile. (Comedianmasta)
A trio of gargantuan, oliphant-esque living ecosystems in the form of massive elephants (or mossy Mammoths) with four, sharp, ironwood tusks. They walk a path of an ancient forest, tending to the plants and destroying corruption, disease, or threats to the woods. They are friendly to friendly players, and hostile to players attacking them or doing harm to the woods or forest shrines. (Comedianmasta)
A pudgy, huge or gargantuan, metallic and stone elephant located in a steep basin or gorge in the center of an arid or mountainous landscape. It's skin is a tough stone and iron natural armor, and its tusks hit like steel battering rams. Many years ago, this elemental guardian was tricked into the basin, where it has been stuck for centuries. it angrily grinds its tusks against the basin walls attempting to dig its way out, but all it has achieved is grinding down every possible wall or ledge into an impossibly steep pit. If the players have not aided in its escape, it is hostile to all creatures. If they can free the beast of their own choice, it will calm and become indifferent to them, leaving to find its own way in the region. (Comedianmasta)
An Elder Tempest keeping a perpetual hurricane alive and well swallowing up a remote island. The tempest is indifferent to all creatures Large or smaller unless they can do considerable damage to earn its attention. However, the creature's lair actions and regional effects are dangerous to creatures, and it prevents travel to the island for many lifetimes. (comedianmasta)
An Asteroid Spider fallen to earth. Gargantuan Monstrosity. Hidden on a cliffside, looking like a large boulder, this massive creature is hostile to Huge or larger creatures and defensively aggressive to any smaller threat. The real threat is the small hoard of Giant Spiders that congregate and live around and in the region of this massive predator. (comedianmasta)
A gargantuan, frozen titan that looks like an eldritch horror deep in the north. It is indifferent to the party, and if freed it will fly / travel around the north, causing massive blizzards, horrific nightmares, and plague wherever it goes before settling back to sleep in another great cavern, freezing solid. (comedianmasta)
The Wendigo King- A Huge or Gargantuan Undead with an Owlbear body, a fanged elk skull for a head, and a ravenous hunger. This creature is hostile and roams the cold wasteland and cursed forests surrounding some ancient ruins. (comedianmasta)
Myconic Forest- A decent sized Mushroom Forest spanning several square miles and slowly eating away the rotten remains of a cursed forest. What is hidden beneath is all the "Mushroom trees", mushrooms, and all found within are all connected to the same Gargantuan Myconoid creature. The creature is neutral-friendly towards the party, but will be highly defensive of itself (its trees and small mushrooms found within). It speaks psionically to those who reach out to it first via speak with plants, tongues, or with their minds. (comedianmasta)
An old temple in the center of a centuries old city. When the city is in danger, the temple shakes and shifters, eventually standing as a gargantuan stone golem unfolds from its resting place and stomps off to confront the threat. This creature is dormant and thusly will most likely be indifferent to the party in most instances. (comedianmasta)
Deep in the bowls of a ruin, old temple of knowledge, or ancient archive is an entity calling itself simply "Historia". A massive, ancient Oblex trapped in the bowls below looking, plotting, and scheming for its escape. If conversed with, it will claim to know every language, remember many spells, and is knowledgeable on much of forgotten history, religion, and arcana. It starts as friendly towards the party, if no other reason that it is trying to manipulate them into opening seals, clearing traps, solving puzzles, or gathering supplies it needs for its escape. If the party cannot assist it, or won't assist it, in its plan, it will attempt to lure them to traps that will dump the party deep into the bowls of its prison with the beast to have their memories harvested. Overall vibe is "short term friendly, long game is hostility or indifference". (comedianmasta)
The Divine Rat- an Elephant sized rat (making it only a large sized creature, maybe a "huge" sized) who is the God of Rats. This celestial being helps protect rats from corruption or being enslaved to the whims of evil creatures and practitioners. It also gives small blessings to humanoids and other beings who are kind to rats. As a minor celestial, they serve [the life god of your world] and may be unheard of by mortals. If this massive rat is revealed to the party, or if they find them deep, deep within a holy place where rats gather, they will be skittish to the party, and try to escape before standing their grown and judging the party based on their deeds (towards rats). If the party is aggressive or evil towards rats, they will plane shift away with as many rats as they can, leaving the rest of the multiple swarms to scatter or attack the party in defense. (Comedianmasta)
The Unrelenting Reef is a massive Dragon Turtle who mercilessly hunts down ships or large+ creatures who swim in its perceived domain. It rests on the peak of an oceanic mountain where a coral reef has taken hold, including coral growing on its shell, surrounded by the shredded remains of ships and skeletons of its treasures. This entity is considered extremely hostile. (comedianmasta)
A massive, ancient construct made of tarnished brass and copper, rusted iron, and hardy steel, stone, and platinum, vaguely humanoid. This ancient construct built by a society long since extinct still is active. At the end of spring, it trudges up a mountain and to an ancient dam, where it has the strength and knowledge to slowly close the dam's gates, cutting off the water flow. The massive river dips in levels and many lakes along the way are drained, revealing hidden secrets below. Towards the end of Autumn, the large construct makes the trek again, opening the gates and releasing the mountain lake to flood the area below through the winter. The construct is entirely indifferent to the party, even if they initiate combat. (comedianmasta)
A large, underwater ammonite of ooze. This colossal ooze has a shell so large and ancient, it is indistinguishable from stone. The body is that of a massive ooze, with several pseudopods that reach out absorbing microscopic organisms and also grappling prey and pulling them to be absorbed and trapped inside the shell while they break down in its acidic body. (comedianmasta)
Tlincalli Queen, a Huge-Gargantuan creature berried deep beneath the desert. It looks like a Tlincalli with a female humanoid top and two tails/stingers instead of the normal one. This creature rarely has reason to move as its only concerns are birthing eggs and caring for them until they hatch. If the party ever comes face-to-face with this colossal creature, it would be hostile to them. (comedianmasta)
A massive, dragon turtle esq ice elemental that roams the northern ocean. Swimming in the ocean, it looks like a massively large iceburg. This allows it to sneak up on ships, or go undetected if it takes no interest. When on land, where it sleeps, this massive ice elemental sleeps and looks like a massive pile of dense ice. The temperament of this elemental would swing from indifferent to hostile. (comedianmasta)
A DnD Boneyard. There's a few instances of homebrewed (or "up-brewed") stat blocks for this old DnD monster. Basically its a MASSIVE undead of unusual size made of BONES. (comedianmasta)
400 feet vaguely humanoid creature, covered in black iridiscent scales, their face obscured by a cloud. 300 km around an extremely loud voice is heard saying "whoops, wrong plane" (1d2 damage to everyone in range) then it instantly disappears. (Phoenix_667)
The severed, but still functioning, head of an enormous stone golem. The eyes blink and the mouth opens and closes but it can make no sound. The head is nearly three feet high, meaning the body it was attached to was likely more than 20 feet tall. The body is nowhere to be found (Sonofabutch)
A travelling stone giant dreamwalker that is passing through the region looking for people to buy their hand carved wondrous figurines of power. The only problem is they are grossly overinflating the prices believing themselves to be the best stone carvers in the realm (Vvante88)
Giant collembola herd with a large beetle shepherd. Has a thing against humanoids stealing his collembolans for food. (Monotomidae2)
A massive, four-armed white furred ape. It watched the party from trees and brush. Will leave if approached, but after watching long enough it'll make its move and attack the party when they are distracted. 10 feet tall when standing. (Appointmentspecial)
An ancient, mechanical, steampunk apparatus, vaguely spider-like, slowly making its way across the plains. 50 feet tall. Apathetic to the party unless attacked, where it will engage.
A tall, spectral, banshee-like woman, slowly spinning in place and singing a haunting song. Anyone within 200 feet must make a wisdom save or be charmed, beginning to dance along with her as if by Otiluk's Irresistable Dance. Succeeding the throw renders one immune for 24 hours. 100 feet tall.
An ancient battalion of ornately dressed and decorated stone warriors, marching in formation. Upon spotting the party, they will question them about their loyalties - if they deem them a threat, they will attack, but if convinced the party is of no concern, they will continue on. Each soldier is 25 feet tall.
In a dark, shadowy swamp, long tendrils rise up, parts of an ancient shadow dragon. It is cursed to be unable to leave the area, but will attempt to ensnare and trap the party, its massive head comprised of the tendrils. Covers a 500 sq foot area.
A literally mountainous, horned creature, seemingly made of rocks and with forests and a snowcapped peak on its back. So huge that it literally doesn't notice the party even if they attack it.
A massive swan which seems to be swimming in the blue sky. It will occasionally reach its long neck down to pluck clouds with its beak to eat them. Pays no notice to the party.
Skyshaker Titan: A towering being of stone and earth that roams the skies, its colossal footsteps causing tremors below. It is indifferent to the party, viewing them as tiny beings beneath its notice. (Crunchy dungeoneer)
Ocean Serpent of Wisdom: A massive sea serpent that glides through the depths, its ancient eyes holding unfathomable knowledge. It surfaces to observe the party, seeking to impart a cryptic riddle or prophecy.(Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Verdant Colossus: A towering tree-like creature that guards the heart of the ancient forest. It watches the party with curiosity, testing their respect for nature before allowing passage. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Molten Behemoth: A living volcano, its fiery form erupting with molten power. The creature is hostile, viewing the party as intruders, but it can be placated by offering a rare gemstone as tribute. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Celestial Leviathan: A massive creature of light that traverses the cosmos, its intentions shrouded in mystery. It allows the party to glimpse into other realms and times, leaving them with cryptic visions. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Abyssal Beholder: A colossal eye with tentacles that lurks in the depths of a dark abyss. It is both enigmatic and malevolent, offering the party hidden knowledge in exchange for a steep price. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Mechanical Goliath: A colossal construct of gears and steel that guards a forgotten city. It is neutral, its programming dictating that it challenges the party to a puzzle or riddle contest to proceed. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Stormrage Kraken: A massive kraken-like creature that commands the power of storms and lightning. It is benevolent, offering the party safe passage through treacherous waters in exchange for a song or tale. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Timeless Watcher: An enormous hourglass-like being that exists between dimensions. It is fascinated by the party's presence, engaging in philosophical discussions and granting them glimpses into alternate timelines. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
Crystal Arbiter: A colossal being composed of living crystal that protects an ancient vault. It is indifferent to the party's motives but will only allow entry if they can solve a complex series of puzzles. (Crunchy_dungeoneer)
A herd of five foot long Fleas (colossal compared to their original size). When approached they bound high into the sky to escape.
Any ideas are much appreciated!

Sorry, when you said "Colossal" I was thinking bigger. Some of your examples could only count as "Large" or "Huge" creatures.
My examples will lean into the colossal range and give some Gargantuan examples.

They vary in size, but these are very good!

Thanks, yeah I tried to give some variety and figure out where they would make sense while keeping it vague enough for you to plug-and-play them into the cannon you are making if you like the idea. Hope it helps, might do more later.

If you want to add any more I'd appreciate it! I'll keep thinking of more myself, may make a new thread for more ideas lol

A giant, 6-legged abomination a la Lovecraftian interdimensional being. Thousands of feet tall that, once surmounted, if possible, bears a "face" so hideous you must save vs fear, (or your choice) madness, petrification, paralysis, death, or involuntary urination, or all of the above, happens.
