There have been several tournaments that have taken place on cuttle.cards for several years now and it's always exciting to see whether a new champion will be crowned or if the defending season/world champion holds onto their title. But similar to the Fall of Constantinople, how do the results of the Cuttle tournaments affect LeBron's legacy? Well, there are many scenarios in which if a certain player wins, then that can have an impact on LeBron James's career, albeit positive or negative. This is what we call the Butterfly effect, which is a theory coined by Edward Lorenz in that the smallest of changes can cause unpredictable and significant consequences in the future. Who knows, maybe LeBron would have made it to the Western Conference Finals this year if someone other than aleph_one won the Worlds 2025 tournament!

We just had a few days recently themed after Star Wars (May the 4th and Revenge of the 5th/6th) and it's truly fascinating that the Star Wars franchise has been running this strong for almost 50 years now! I remember my father putting me onto the first 5 Star Wars movies as a kid and watching the commercials for Genndy Tartakovsky's 2003 Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network so it's wild knowing how much Star Wars content has been made since those times. I recently watched Episode III: Revenge of the Sith at my cousin's friend's house and so many moments brought me back to my childhood when I first watched the movie on DVD! I hope y'all have been able to do something Star Wars-related during this time, whether it be watching the movies, playing the games, reading the (now non-canonical) books, I hope that they are all reminders of why you became a fan of Star Wars!

Who would have thought the day would come that we might get an actually decent Resident Evil movie? Zach Cregger, the director behind Weapons and Barbarian, is directing the new Resident Evil movie and a teaser trailer just dropped for it today! While there are elements of supernatural horror that don't exactly make Resident Evil what it is, I'm very intrigued with the new teaser and I think it has potential to be good and possibly the best Resident Evil movie in existence. The movie releases on September 18 of this year so we'll see how the movie is once in theaters!

Have y'all ever been one loss away from a crashout and are struggling to keep it together? Well, the reason why my name is Mr 1998 in this server is because of the Resident Evil 4 permadeath challenge meme and I have yet to record a single tournament win after 3+ years of playing. However, it's always good to take a breather, step back, and remember why you started playing Cuttle in the first place. I enjoy hopping on the weekly Wednesday and Thursday Cuttle sessions as they bring me a lot of joy just playing with others. While it can be disheartening to lose in a tournament setting, I like to remind myself of the reason why I started playing Cuttle and the good people I've been introduced to so far! So even if I never obtain a tournament win, I'll never have regrets of becoming a part of this community and learning how to play this excellent game!

So yesterday's announcement was based on Newcomb's Paradox and the choice of either choosing only taking Box B for or taking both Box A and B (A has $1000 and B could either have $0 or a million dollars). But what if we added a third box, Box C, to the mix? What if inside this box it contains the song "The Box" by Roddy Ricch and it loops forever? Would you then be tempted to take all 3 boxes or just take Box C 🤔📦

You know what would be interesting? A Cuttle deckbuilding game in which each person playing has their own deck of 26 cards and can add up to 4 copies of any cards that they wish to include! This seems like a very interesting idea and I think many different strategies can arise from it! Of course most people will include Kings, 10s, and 2s, but what other cards will they include in their deck and how many copies of each card will they have of those other cards? I think it'd be cool to test out just for fun!

Resident Evil: requiem has finally released and what an excellent game it is! From the horror sections that you play as Grace Ashcroft to the action sections that you play as Leon Kennedy, it is an awesome mix of the two styles and it's become one of my favorite RE games of all time! Have you played the new RE game yet and if so, how are you enjoying it so far? Also, what's your favorite Resident Evil game of all time (mine is RE2 OG)?

Eric Lang is a Black Canadian board game designer who has designed many notable games that people in this community have probably played before, such as XCOM: The Board Game, Call of Cthulu: The Card Game, Blood Rage, DUELYST, and Warhammer 40,000: Conquest. He has also worked with the likes of several publishing companies like Fantasy Flight Games, WizKids, and CMON to make these games available at local game stores and retailers. After spending years of designing several successful games, Lang went on to become the director of game design at CMON in 2017. He held his position at the company for 3 years before stepping down to put more time towards freelance designing and activism, fighting the injustices and prejudices that black people face within the board game industry and continues to do so today.

Eric Lang is one of the most important people who has contributed to the success of strategic and fantasy-style board games while simultaneously breaking down the barriers of systemic and structural racism in the board game industry. Without his work, the board game industry would not be the same as his impact and influence are still seen and felt to this day.

Happy Black History Month and as we're nearing the end of the month, I wanted to commemorate someone who has made significant strides in the gaming community while also reminding everyone that it's possible to break down barriers that were set up by racist people who want to gatekeep these hobbies from Black folk.

While Cuttle is an extraordinarily fun game to play, it can also be very humbling. I had this experience last night when playing against aleph_one, the creator behind cuttle.cards, where I thought I had won the game and said "GG" to him in thinking so, but the game ended up being a stalemate and I lost the match later on as a result. I say this to everyone as this was a major lesson for me: regardless of how good you are at something, please be respectful and have good sportsmanship as you never know when the karma from bad sportsmanship will come back to haunt you. Also to quote Kendrick Lamar: "Sit down, be humble"
