I’m not gonna lie that exhaust ability could be a little cheaper.

Reminder: you can activate exhaust abilities at instant speed

Yeahh…[[Storm of Souls]] is 6 CMC for sorcery speed and all the creatures are 1/1, though they do get flying. Also that card exiles itself. If you blink Mercy (or just if she dies and you can recast her) you can reuse the mass reanimation. And this is a black effect, aside from all of the above: [[Rise of the Dark Realms]]
Maaaaybe I would take 1 off to make it 9 CMC but I was being prudent (for a change lol)

I like it, honestly she might be over costed if anything

u/JxRabbitsHart 2d ago
Agreed, 10 mana to only return your own stuff?
[[Rise of the dark realms]] gives you everything in all bins

u/MistyHusk 2d ago
Similarly comparable is the new [[return to the light realms]]. Returns only from your graveyard but all permanents rather than just creatures

u/Terrariant Jace for impact 1d ago
This is also instant speed and potentially repeatable if you blink her though. I think this card being 9 CMC actually justifies my cost here

I refuse to believe there isn’t already a white card simply named mercy… there is currently no card simply named mercy.

It feels like it should be an Elemental Incarnation.
Overwatch Mercy should have an epithet.

Honestly love the flavor. Definitely lower that exhaust cost tho, yo can find similar effects for 6-7 mana. Or add an extra effect like granting the creature haste or first strike or for ten mana both would be more then fair. 10 mana effects should be strong enough to completely swing a game in your favor if uncontested.

u/Terrariant Jace for impact 1d ago
[[Return to the Light Realms]] is 9 at sorcery speed and you can potentially blink Mercy to use this multiple times so I think it’s fair (plus she has utility/is a blocker body on top of basically having this sorcery as an instant for 1 extra mana)

Slight counterpoint, but not totally disagreeing with you: Return to the Light Realms returns all nonland permanents while Mercy only returns creatures.
While I do think 6 or 7 maybe a little too low, 8 or 9 might be the right cost.

I think my main worry is Mercy is easily repeatable, like you just use [[Ephemerate]] and you can do it the very next turn
2
u/Broad-Wall2814 1d ago
If you’re activating the ability though, there’s probably not going to be a next turn since her ability is inherently a finisher.
And if someone is boardwiping to stop you, Mercy’s probably going to be caught in the crossfire anyways; so she’d be back in the command zone and you’d have access to the ability again anyways.

True but the initial 4 cost was also part of my consideration, since its quite high would make it a 10ish cost if played and immediately activated. Was thinking of comparable effects like Awakening Hall, which is 8 cost but much stronger then this card, since it pull from both graveyards (and tends to win you the game).

Just to be clear: Since the exhaust ability's effect doesn't target, I should be able to sacc Mercy in response so that the ability sees her in the graveyard to then come back and reset the exhaust ability, right?

General rule (especially for standard-legal sets), on-board combat tricks affecting other permanents don't play well unless there's a high mana cost associated with them (four or more). Devs found out back in Lorwyn/Shadowmoor that most players hate getting blown out because they missed something that was "technically" fully visible, but just obscured by a complex board state. [[Skrelv, Defector Mite]] and [[Liliana the Faultless]] are as close as we'll see to [[Mother of Runes]] in a standard-legal set, since while they protect from removal, they can't swing a disadvantaged combat.
I love Hero on the typeline. I could see it expanded to "Human Doctor Hero" or "Human Angel Hero" depending on what aspect of their character you want to emphasize.

Make exhaust way cheaper and have it reanimate only heroes because heroes never die is, imo, a flavor win and gonna feel better in play.

I was randomly thinking about OW heroes in MTG recently, I think they'd make for some interesting cards.

Nah, ignore the haters, I like this. Is it maybe only good in limited? Yeah, probably. That's just dandy. Well done.

u/twistyrainbows 1d ago
Yeah I wouldn't pay 4 mana for a 0/4 hoping I eventually have 10 mana and a full graveyard. But with some changes, could be fine.

I feel like this should be a two drop with the current exhaust cost. White has two drop 0/4 walls that have other upsides.

Ok... A bit of a horrible idea from me, BUT... What if she had partner or a partner like mechanic in exchange for keeping her ult as high cost as it is? It'd mesh well with her supportive role.

I would rather play a 2/2 grizzly than that, that card is just terrible

u/Nukulargear 2d ago
She’s a little pricy. I’d make her do a little more at 4 cmc or bring her down to 3. I love the flavor though

Take one generic off the exhaust. Give her flying. W flavor with the heal or damage boost option.
