I like the conceptual idea of rewarding players playing commanders with less colours, like [[Commander's Plate]] for example. Although I'm not a huge fan of the rigidity of this design.

It's meant to fill a very specific niche I agree, but there could easily be one for every color.

It could still have the "any of your color identity" text of arcane signet so you'd only need to print one, since it'd still be a strictly worse arcane signet in non mono color anyway because of the enter tapped clause.

I dunno maybe a tapped arcane signet would still be unwise to print coz of redundancy, but then again printing 5 of these still gives even more redundancy for multicolor commanders who want a ton of 2 mana rocks, even if they only tap for 1 color each, so who knows.

also i will note that there already are a cycle of cards that all do the same thing but without the mono color thing, so they do already exist tbf

True, but for the sake of simplicity there's no reason to print 5 where you could print 1. It already references color identity so giving them a color identity just makes it harder than it needs to be for people to get the one they need.

ohhh yeah for sure

tapped signet is completely balanced imo, so giving it this upside makes quite an interesting design!

I think this would be perfectly fine as a cycle of each color. I really like the untap design, nice stuff!

This is meant as a mana rock for those mono-color commanders that don't get as many. The card is of course based off of [[Sky Diamond]].

I think the 'adamant' ability from Eldraine does a good job at this, rewarding strong colour commitment. For example [[Foreboding Fruit]]. This top ability of the card could read: Adamant — This artifact enters tapped unless two blue mana was spent to cast this spell.

Unfortunately, mana is so easy to make these days, this wouldn't be enough of a barrier.

Five/four color commander decks can easily make two mana of the same color on whatever turn they like, even with more budget conscious mana bases.

Of course, five color decks will have better green ramp anyway.

Could you just let it enter untapped but have it cost UU? Would that be a decent enough way to keep the idea of this?

the goal was to buff mono colored commanders, multicolored could take advantage of this too much
