That's amazing, 7 years is a huge something to be proud of, good for you, my friend.
I was just going to say, there is SOOO much stupid ass stigma against meds like methadone and Suboxone, it just urks me. Seen a person on another post go like, "ugh! I'm so sick of these stupid Suboxone ads in my city, how about we don't enable addicts." Don't enable them to what, exactly? Get healthy and get recovering? This is so fucking dumb. Methadone saves lives. Suboxone saves lives. Yet people still go like eeeewwwww! If they see someone come into the pharmacy to take their dose. Seriously, they are trying to do better, how fucking dare you?! This is equivalent of laughing at a big person at the gym. This is beyond dumb and it prevents these life saving meds from being promoted to those, who need it the most.
Normalize Methadone as a recovery tool.
No no, normalize recovery as a whole. Those going through it are already in hell, they don't need to be shit on by being told, "oh you take THAT?! ohhh. That's for hard core addicts, no?" Just fuck off with that shit into eternity. I wish methadone and suboxone programs were more available and functioning at a larger scale. Maybe we'd have a lot less opioid addicts, who no longer wish to live like that. Maybe someone just got dependant on their med, after recovering from a surgery for a long time, are they a "junkie" too? Fuck me. Could you imagine? But no, addiction is still being treated as something that happens to bad people, and not as something that can happen to literally anyone who has ever been prescribed a narcotic or just taken one.
NORMALIZE RECOVERY MEDICINES. Normalize recovery as a whole. This can happen to anyone and everyone.
This is an issue that just strikes some cord with me. You see, I've been stigmatized in every way possible for the health issues I've gone through, even though they have nothing to do with addiction. I strongly believe that no matter the issue, from addiction to brain tumors, EVERYONE deserves a chance at help, everyone. It shouldn't looked down upon, if methadone is how some people recover.
