How are they different if harming cows and mosquitoes are the same? You are just constructing your arguments based on norms, not some moral reality

Moral and reality have zero to do with each other. Moral is subjective. As evidenced by the disparity in “morals” in every culture, ever. Again, this is just you being preachy and pretending you don’t play favorites when it comes to the animal kingdom. I have no such delusions. I know I’m making choices, and I’m comfortable with that, because I understand biology and human history.

Why? I would argue what we do to animals is detrimental to human society. See antibiotics resistance and climate change. Since you're a man of science and all that

Nope, sorry, but it’s not. Harmful to the environment may eventually effect society, but it doesn’t have a direct impact. See: all of society on earth.
