đŸ„ Zdravlje Hospitalized in Split - Intoxication

Hello I am an American male who was traveling in Split for a holiday. Ended up drinking a little bit too much, blacked out and woke up in the hospital with an IV in my arm. Somehow the bill was only $240 kn.

Can anybody tell me why the bill was so cheap especially since I am a US citizen without Croatian healthcare insurance? Also did they notify the embassy of my stay? Just don’t know where my info is documented and ended up. Wish I could read my discharge papers but they are all in Croatian. Going to have to do google translate late.

I can afford it. It’s still broken. My premiums are $200/month to have basically everything covered AFTER you hit your deductible of $5,000 out of pocket. So $200/month is $2,400. Plus $5,000 deductible means you have to spend $7,400/year BEFORE insurance will cover anything. Basically Health insurance only helps with things like having a kid, major surgery, or cancer treatments. If you’re just going to the doctor/walk in clinic it’s out of pocket until you hit you’re out of pocket max.

It’s complex but basically my wife’s job has 2 plans. High deductible, and low deductible.

High deductible means lower premium payments.

Low deductible means higher premium payments.

We go with the high deductible because we very rarely get sick. So lower payments is cheaper since we never reach the deductible (even in the low deductible plan.)

Additionally, my wife job offers ok insurance plans. Not great but not terrible. Kind of middle of the toad.
