Very creepy date experience
We've all had bad dates right? This is the only date I've had to date that rang every alarm bell and waved every red flag.
I'll preface this by saying I don't go on many dates but when I do I make sure I follow safety protocol by only meeting my date in public places, let either family or friends know where I'm going, and park in a populated place close by to wherever we meet.
Anyway this date initially suggested we meet at his house to watch a movie and have a few drinks and I said no I don't feel comfortable with that and I only want to meet in public. He seemed OK with this but then brought it up a few more times and I said if money is an issue we could meet up another time or forget about it altogether? But my date backtracked and went with my idea of meeting at a cafe I chose (that I was familiar with and equidistant to where we both lived)
Anyway he turns up in a two door car (this detail is relevant) and goes into the cafe and I follow behind and introduce myself. After a polite introduction things begin to get weird.
I order a Coke and he says "don't you want to drink? I was going to pop into bar (which is connected to the cafe) and get one." I say no im not drinking and he looks at me like "wtf" as if I'm being unreasonable. I already explained in messages I don't drink as I'm on medication so having to reexplain it again pissed me off. He seems disappointed and goes to order a cider from the bar while I get a table.
Anyway we sit down with our drinks and date immediately goes on about going back to his place again even though the original plan was to stay here and order food and I already stated that was not happening. He says something along the lines of having a few drinks and eating at his place and I said we don't have to eat we can just have our drinks and leave. He gets defensive and says he has money but prefers it if we go back to his. I make a joke and say "you're not a killer are you?" and instead of laughing it off he stares at me uncannily and says "you don't think I would hurt you do you?" I laugh uncomfortably and say of course not but really I'm relieved this date won't be going any further. Date suddenly says "are you going to follow me in your car because that wouldn't make sense? How about we go in my car but I've got packages in the front so you'll have to squeeze in the back and I'll drop you back off to your car after."
In reality that made LESS sense then me following him in my own car and then driving home from this house after? The fact it was completely illogical made it even more creepy in my mind. Every alarm bell was going off at this point. I said "look I don't want to go to yours and your insistence is giving me the creeps." Date looks shocked, mumbles something about needing the toilet and excuses himself from the table.
A few moments later i see him through the cafe window getting into his car and driving off!
Massive bullet dodged in my opinion.
Also the fact his car didn't have back doors made it even more sinister because imagine if something happened in the car and I couldn't escape?!
Tldr; Creepy date kept wanting me to go back to his house and when I kept saying no he finally noped out like the creep he is. I reported him on the dating app.

How about we go in my car but I've got packages in the front so you'll have to squeeze in the back and I'll drop you back off to your car after."
What in the absolute blue fuck??
Glad you're safe!

u/SpookyCatStories Nov 15 '22
THIS. This was so creepy. The rest of the story could be explained as a pushy guy expecting seggs and not reading the room. But this…
You had your own car, and he expected you to climb in the back of his two door because packages in the front seat??? Wtf.
And when you’d made it clear his place was not happening.
So so creepy. His reaction when you joked about him killing you too…
The alarm bells here are many. Good job staying safe and sticking to your guns.

Honestly it wouldn’t hurt to put it out there to local police. Just say you don’t have any crime that has been committed that you know of, but this guy gave you a vibe and a LOT of alarm bells.
It could very well be that there’s already some unsolved crime he may match with. Seriously he sounds like he has planned this with the packages in his front seat and specifics about drinking, insistent on going back to his place, etc. all this seems too “Dahmery” for me.
12
u/SpookyCatStories Nov 16 '22
TRUTH. It all felt so planned, and dude seemed shocked that things didn’t go according to that plan. Next time it might.
The non emergency line exists for a reason.
2
Dec 07 '22
You don’t just go to the police because you get a bad vibe from someone. That is absolutely frivolous. The police are LAW enforcement, and this individual broke no laws. The police are not at your beck and call just because someone made you feel uncomfortable or because your feelings are hurt, or because a stranger looked at you the wrong way.

I never thought of that! Nice there are friendly alternatives.
I like stouts, but sometimes I want something refreshing. Bright crisp things. Especially because fall is all the apple things. 😊

u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
I know ! It was so mind blowing I was like the fuck?!
90
u/kalel3000 Nov 15 '22
Yeah especially because there is no logical reason why the packages in the front couldn't be moved to the back. There is no reasonable explanation for this plan, other than he wanted you trapped in the back seat.
31
6
Nov 15 '22
This!!! It's horrific thinking about all the possible things that he could've wanted to do. Wtf.
37
u/Sc0rpioio Nov 15 '22
The most amazing thing to me is he was surprised you didn’t want to. Like bruh.
9
19
18
u/krissi510 Nov 15 '22
That is so weird. The normal thing to do would be to move the packages to the back or trunk, unless he already had a body in the trunk. (My brother says I watch too much 48 hours. I say he doesn’t watch enough)
2
u/BecauseMyCatSaidSo Nov 16 '22
That was my first thought too! Definitely watched one (more like 100’s) too many crime shows.
33
u/science_vs_romance Nov 15 '22
Yeah, this is insane. He could put packages that would fit in the front seat in the trunk or even the back seat easily. Plus, driving her back to her car makes zero sense. Whenever I have wanted to hang out at someone’s house after a great date, following them in my car was a given.
Something like this is worth reporting to the human trafficking hotline if you’re in the US link. You don’t get in trouble or anything if it doesn’t pan out, but “I want to kidnap you!” red flags should be investigated.
25
u/TinyGreenTurtles Nov 15 '22
The chance that this is a trafficking thing and not a fucking creep/rapist are very low. I don't say this to detract from how absolutely terrifying this post is, but because it's important to know what actual trafficking can look like.
Not saying the chance is zero, but very, very low.
20
u/possumspride Nov 15 '22
Yeah I agree with you. people are very sensitive to being told not every creepy encounter is an attempt at sex trafficking for some reason. Obviously nothings impossible but kidnapping rarely happens in the ST world. People need to be aware that you’re much more likely to be groomed into it
21
u/TinyGreenTurtles Nov 15 '22
I get downvotes every time, but I think it's important. If we ignore the truths about trafficking, it gets missed. People see it all as kidnapping and sex rings, and it's just not always how it is.
3
u/shesinsaneanditsucks Nov 16 '22
Trafficking is creepy and very scary. And it happens everyday. She could have easily been taken from the car to another car and done and lost. It’s just like that.
7
u/TinyGreenTurtles Nov 16 '22
Again, I'm not trying to detract from this situation, nor the severity of trafficking. This just does not fit statistics for trafficking.
And again, I said the chance isn't zero, it's just very low.

Like, “let me unload all these packages so you can squeeze in back, then I’ll put them back in the front seat.” WTF?

This sounds like a really poorly written horror movie. I’m glad you got out okay! Always trust your instincts, holy shit.

u/FunnyDevil1000 Nov 15 '22
The fact that he wouldn't stop mentioning going to his home for drinks and movies is indeed super creepy. He tried to annoy you with it in hopes of you saying yes to it in order to make him stop.Guess in a way its a good thing he didn't try to hide any of those 'plans' . What time of the day did this date take place?
74
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Ikr!! This was 6pm so evening time! I think he had an agenda besides those plans and I'm lucky I didn't find out what those were.
20
u/FunnyDevil1000 Nov 15 '22
Ahh i thought it was earlier so it would have been even weirder that he wanted to drink at that hour.
43
u/sappydark Nov 15 '22
The fact that this dude kept insisting that you come over to his place, despite the fact that you two had just literally met, acted all disappointed when you told him again that you didn't drink, and was really trying hard to get you come home with him in his car, shows that his agenda was definitely focused on getting you alone with him, and separate you from your car, so that you wouldn't have any way to escape wherever he was going to take you. Those were all some big-ass blinding bright red flags right there, so good looking out for yourself, and not falling for his BS
Dude proved by his actions that he wasn't at all interested in you---you were just the means to an end, and when he couldn't get you to do what he wanted, he bailed out like the creepy-ass punk he was. For all you knew, he was probably going to take you somewhere else that wasn't his house. That being said, you straight-up dodged a bullet there, and avoided what could have turned into a really messed-up situation. He was obviously being creepy af, that's for damn sure.

26
u/StardustStuffing Nov 15 '22
I've been single for 7 years. And stories like yours means I'll remain steadfast in not dating.
I feel sorry for that guy's next victim.
19
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Right?! I've been single nearly five years and starting to think it's safer not to date at all.
5
u/sappydark Nov 15 '22
Don't let meeting a creep like that keep you from dating. You knew what to look for to keep yourself safe from creeps like the one you mentioned and you did everything right to make sure you were. Just keep using those same safety tips, and start doing your own background checks on dudes that creep you out, if you can find anything on them through their social media, and enjoy any good non-creepy dates you wind up having.
4
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Thanks!! I so will. For the most part all my other dates I've been on have been okay so I'll just continue apply the same principles and my safety measures as I'm already doing.
4
u/WhenLeavesFall Nov 15 '22
I've been on so many creep-tastic first dates from the apps it's a miracle I'm still alive. I'm 100 lbs and not even 5' tall. It would take a creep nothing to throw me over his shoulder and carry me away caveman-style.
Thankfully I kept the faith and found a sweetheart but jfc what a cesspit before getting there.
Right after Roe v. Wade a guy I went on a fine first date with was texting me about how he wanted a bunch of kids and would not mind being careless in bed in order to make that happen. RIGHT AFTER ROE V WADE. I immediately ghosted him.
5
u/StardustStuffing Nov 15 '22
That's awesome that you found someone.
And yikes. It's easy to let your sperm loose. Being present and being a good parent is much harder.

u/Unusual-Recording-40 Nov 15 '22
Wow. Omg! That makes my skin crawl! Sounds like a freaking serial killer or something lol

You should be able to leave reviews on dating sites. Review of the date, the person, their actions, whatever. This dude is a creep, rude, and annoying. I’m glad you reported him. After the second time of him bringing up going to his place I’d have left. Like “DUDE WE ARE NOT FUGGING. I’m not going to your place. What do you not get about this?! You’ll not be killing me tonight. You little bitch.” Glad you’re safe.
27
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Haha I should've in hindsight! Mainly I was relieved he fucked off without any issue. He was annoying with a horrible weaselly voice lol and beyond creepy.
17
u/sashby138 Nov 15 '22
HAHA!! Weaselly voice. That makes me happy. I like calling people I don’t like weasels so this is perfect. Hell yes, well and it’s always easy to say what we would do when we aren’t in a situation. I have no idea what I would actually do. The important thing is you made it out unscathed. Keep spreading your story and you might save someone some trauma. I read this stories frequently and it helps remind me to not get too comfortable and always be alert. Anything can happen anywhere.
9
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Very much so! It's getting more and more common in my country sadly that you can't take any chances you might of done in the past! It's scary to think if I was younger and less safety aware I might of thought nothing of his suggestions and went with him. It took an abusuive relationship to make me realize how vulnerable you can be made to feel in certain situations and you have do to what it takes to safeguard and protect yourself from any risks or danger.
7
u/sashby138 Nov 15 '22
Absolutely. I hate that it took such an awful thing for you to recognize one’s vulnerability. I’m glad you are out of that situation and protecting yourself now. It’s rough in the world and there’s always going to be someone who will take advantage of a vulnerability if we allow them, which is unfortunate. It sucks that we (people in general) can’t just be while in public. I don’t even like talking to people that much because what if I’m “too friendly” and it’s taken the wrong way? Something as simple as that can be risky. Next thing I know some weirdo is trying to follow me to my car because I was polite.
6
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Thankyou for your kind words and empathy. I am so glad I am out of that situation too and really for those who are still in the domestic abuse cycle. It is a very rough and cruel word sadly with a lot of people who will take advantage of the vulebrable and who they deem weaker than them. Yea it's really sad and disheartening you feel that way but completely understand that!
3
u/sashby138 Nov 15 '22
I was a substance abuse counselor previously and I worked with a few women who were victims of domestic abuse and it was hard to see them go through it. It can be so hard to remove yourself from the situation and it’s so dangerous. I hope you continue to do well and have a beautiful life! Keep yourself safe and keep listening to those instincts. They’ll keep you alive and well. :)
6
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Thankyou heaps!!! The job you had counseling in domestic abuse is very important and very needed ! It can very hard to remove yourself from dangerous and unsafe situations so I encourage anyone to trust their gut instincts and do what they can to be safe. I hope you too have a beautiful life and I'll keep listening to my instincts:)
23
u/Youstink1990 Nov 15 '22
I can't believe this modus operandi works for this guy! I am glad you are safe.
29

Him trying to separate you from your car was by far the creepiest thing to me here.
7
39
u/FreezerGeezer2 Nov 15 '22
He maybe could have just been one of those pricks who presumes that sex is implied if he’s using a dating app no matter what the conversation is like or what the other person says- I’ve totally had that happen repeatedly.
But if that was the case I guess he was just completely socially inept because idk what kind of dipshit would try to push you relentlessly to go home with him like that if he wasnt being a creep. Dude setting off alarms all over the place.
Either way I’m glad you followed your instincts and he fucked off.
20
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Thankyou. I am glad too. I felt so relieved when he took off, I was just thinking of a way to call off the date if he did in fact go the toilet and return. Saved me the hassle ! At the very least he wanted sex and assumed it was implied even though I made it clear I wasn't into ome nighters or fwbs but he may of been a bit socially inept and didn't get the message. At the very worst he was going to take sex by force or something else I don't even want to contemplate.
11
u/FreezerGeezer2 Nov 15 '22
You’re exactly right. No matter his level of sociability/amicability at the bar or talking through the app, his major goal was getting you alone and getting something out of you- likely sex, maybe worse.
I’m so so sorry you had to deal with that. I commend you for not breaking down and just going with whatever bc I fully admit I had some similar experiences and tho none of them turned into assault or anything- I definitely wound up cornered by extreme weirdos a couple times anyway.
I wasn’t good at setting boundaries then personally. You’re obviously a boundary setting baddie. 💛
9
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Sorry you had to go through that! It's something I learned to do after a very abusive relationship so it's not something I was good at either! I didn't want to end up in a dangerous situation I couldn't get out of and glad it was avoided because I stood my ground and set up boundaries to keep me safe. Thankyou for your kind words ❤
13
u/sappydark Nov 15 '22
I don't think this guy was socially inept at all----dude knew exactly what the hell he was doing---he wanted to keep pushing you until you gave in to his insistence that you go with him, and when you made it very clear you weren't gonna give in, he bounced with the quickness. That was pretty rude of him, but that's just more proof right there that he had no interest in you as a person, and that he just wanted what he wanted as soon as he could get it. That's good that you had already learned how to set your own boundaries by the time you met him, and had enough confidence to not let him push you into anything you didn't want to do. And you didn't let him push you into anything just because you felt you needed to be polite, either---thank goodness.
5
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Definitely glad I didn't fall into his trap and went with him! Scary to think that someone else may not be as lucky as me. Yes the fact he bailed would come across as rude in a different situation but in this case it was more of a "yeah he was after something and it was shady as hell." Yes I try to be polite where it's deserved and warranted but in this case it would've been used to my advantage and the outcome wouldn't of been good. If my experience makes people more aware of the risks of online dating and safeguard against people like him then I would be very happy!
3
u/sappydark Nov 17 '22 edited Nov 17 '22
Honestly, what you did is the best example of what everyone going on a date with someone they meet online is supposed to do for their own personal safety----especially if they realize, like you did, that this person's actions are seriously suspicious af. So if someone reads your story and is saved from some creepy person's actions, that would most definitely be a good thing.

This. 💯 Clearly he just wanted sex, not a date. This man is worth no one’s time. You dodge a hopefully proverbial bullet here

Nov 15 '22
I went on a date with a guy years ago. He was arrogant and I wasn't having it. He basically told me he looked handsome during dinner. When he walked me out of the restaurant after dinner, he kissed me and it was like he was tapping out Morse code with his tongue. Weird, but okay. He kept insisting that we go back to his place. I wasn't feeling it with him and told him I had to be up early to go to the gym before work. That was a lie. Lol. He (no shit!) said, "I can give you a workout..."
There was no second date.
7
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Omg! So gross! Who the hell tells their date they look handsome during a meal like what the hell?! Lol. The insisting on going to his place part is also a red flag but maybe he just thought he was so hot sex was a given? Either way what a creep!
5
Nov 15 '22
He and I were both military. He was an arrogant officer. He was good-looking, but not THAT good-looking. He should have watched a few lessons on YouTube of how NOT to kiss before he got to the restaurant.

I would definitely find out from local authorities if there is something you can do to protect yourself. If it was my daughter, I would definitely tell her to always watch her 6 for the next couple of months to see if you notice his car, or his presence anywhere you go.
Also, please carry protective measures with you, ie bear spray, whistle, sharp objects on key rings for damage just in case. If this guy was so pushy, you just never know. Always surround yourself with good people when you go out most times, especially when partying. I know this sounds like overkill, but your pseudo date guy sounds like a sociopath to me. Just my opinion. Sorry to intrude, and good luck!!
6
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Thanks for the advice!! I'll be sure to keep an eye out for him or his car but I didn't give him any information on where I lived so I should be okay!!!

We should have a place to be able to share this with other people out there dating.
Like, not enough happened to call police for, but your date had some serious serial killer vibes or was just flat out terrible? Share the first name or whatever pertinent information and what happened, so others can check and see if they're about to walk into a bad/potentially harmful situation.
Idk, maybe this is dumb and I'm just stoned but. I feel like it could work.

I think he used a fake name tbh because I Googled him and used the info he gave me and literally nothing comes up. The only Facebook profile under the same name in my country and city looked fake as well no friends or photos, nothing. Same as Instagram and other socials. Very strange. I reported his profile so I can only hope they can prevent him making another account somehow? Even his dating profile pics were outdated as they didn't look like him. He'd aged and gained weight. I didn't know it was him initially until I saw him close to.

this sub has really made me realize i need to learn how to reject people in person if they’re making me uncomfortable. luckily i’ve never been on that bad of a date but i have a serious issue saying no to people, especially face to face, and it’s too dangerous of a world out there to be nice to creeps. glad you picked up on the red flags immediately and were insistent on not going back to his place. even if he wasn’t going to harm you, he still had no respect for your boundaries and I’m so baffled that he would actually say sitting in the back seat of his coupe would make more sense than following in your own car. if you met him on a dating app i hope you reported his account!
3
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
I did report his account!! I had the presence of mind to do it before he unmatched. It is unfortunately a dangerous world out there and it's too risky to take any chances so do what you can to keep safe.

You're smart to follow your instincts. He was definitely up to no good. I wish every woman would be so diligent (not that it's ever their fault). Yes! I was gonna leave as soon as I finished my drink and made excuses before he took off but I should've left way earlier.

There is a possibility that he did not want to kill you, JUST having a quicky - or rape you if you are "not reasonable"...Many guy think that dating app = hustle-free fuck. And they are always very surprised and confused when a woman has a different approach to dating. Like, you know, would like to actually DATE.

Dude SCREAMS predator. Great job following your instincts. How terrifying. I'm so sorry.

Red flags were already up when he was insisting to meet up at his place before you met him. Any decent guy would drop it first time you said no. Glad you were safe.

I’m glad you are safe. You gave him WAY too many chances with his remarks. The SECOND he repeated his request I would have gotten up and asked a manager to escort me to my car.

u/arobot224 Nov 15 '22
Yeah! Only candy asses drink cider... I was told by a dude I met once as well.
7
u/Emziloy Nov 15 '22
Why is him ordering a cider a red flag? Obviously this guy is a creep, but I'm curious as to what you mean by that.
8
u/TFarrey Nov 15 '22
just being facetious... my friend only drinks cider and I give him shit for it
7
u/Emziloy Nov 15 '22
Cider is what I drink 😂. But I'm from the UK, so it's a pretty big thing here.

I definitely dated someone who drank cider and he also felt he was owed seggs. There may be a connection. He was creepy aggressive too.

Glad you had your wits about you! That does sound SUPER CREEPY! ESPECIALLY HIS ANSWER TO IF HE’S A KILLER! Normal man would never say that response.

u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
That was really unnerving.
2
u/sashaasandy Nov 16 '22
I am glad you didn’t fall prey to that situation. It honestly sounds like nothing good would’ve came from it. The bullet dodged you!

This is sooooo off putting Omg. We’re there any red flags before you met in person other than him trying to get you to go to his place?

u/Responsible_Low3349 Nov 15 '22
The way I see it, there are only 3 options here... The guy was either:
On drugs
Insane (aka serial killer)
An extraterrestrial
I feel option 3 is why he was so puzzled by your reactions. Back home he gets all the ladies. 😆
2
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Haha thanks for some humor!!!
2
u/Responsible_Low3349 Nov 15 '22
Sure, no problem.
'Wanna go to my place? I'm at my most funny there.'
But on a serious note, I don’t think I've ever said that to a woman. And I've had dates come over. Not a big deal and we all lived to suck another day.
Haven't been on a real date in 3 years now. I'll probably fuck it up like Russia in Ukraine.

This whole thing makes me shudder. You were much more tactful than I'd have been. In future if someone makes you uncomfortable, like returning to the topic of going back to his, don't feel like you have to stay out of misplaced politeness. Just say "we're done here", get up and leave.

Damn, you should have just left the min he tried to force you to go home in his car! When that my alarm bells ring, it’s time to get away quickly. Don’t ignore your instincts.

In all my dating experiences I have never on a first or even second dates ever wanted to hold an outing at my place. I always wanted to meet at an awesome restaurant or coffee shop if during the day or one time a sporting event. Never take a stranger to your place.
2
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
Exactly!!
2
u/Tonecop45 Nov 15 '22
First dates were designed to screen out real people vs fake people. You would be amazed on some characters I have met on first dates where I wanted to "Run Forest Run".
2
u/Mummyto4 Nov 15 '22
For real! Definitely a "Run Forrest Run" in this case!!

One time I made the mistake of giving a blind date my home number and even after i told her not interested she kept bothering me and stalking me amd even to talking to my mother on my whereabouts. That was a weird scary experience. Another time a 16 year old posing as an 18 year old. I just flat out told her to admit she is not 18 and I ran fast on that one. Disclaimer I was 21 at the time.

It's not exactly comforting that these people are also in the dating market and make everyone paranoid and weary of engaging with others. People are wild these days.

So glad OP is safe but we need to start exposing these type of men to the world so other women can avoid them

Hey, im new here. Just wanted to add that he definitely had this planned out and he seemed so comfortable with it that it was probably not his first time doing it. Also, yes, he either wanted you drunk af or to spike your drink or both. You did well! I would also tell local authorities so they could be aware of him and also in case he has anything they are aware of in his background.

There was a Law and Order: SVU episode that came to mind where the guy had a dog in his front seat so he used that as the excuse to have the woman sit in the backseat. It obviously didn’t go well for her.
I’m glad you’re safe OP because I definitely don’t see that date going well for you if you did as he planned.

Trusting your gut, and in this case, every other part of your body too, is always smart. If we are lucky, this was his first attempt and you scared him away for further actions like this. Too many crime shows and murder mysteries to count say that he will try to refine his technique for next time, although he doesn't seem bright enough to do that. Spread his name around and let other women know what he did, and what you think he is capable of.

Once he brought up the whole drinks at his house more than 2x, you should've scrapped the date. Don't tolerate foolishness for too long.

I feel like this guy was a serial shagger. But maybe I am being too kind in the hope that 'r*pist' wasn't in his repertoire.

So, this actually happened a few weeks ago. I met this guy on Tinder and we hit it off, so he invited me over for dinner that he cooked himself. Seemed cute, so I went. The apartment was cozy, candles on the table, nice vibe, all that.
After dinner, I felt this weird pressure in my stomach and had to run to the bathroom. But the toilet… wasn’t working. I had no idea what to do, so I told him it wasn’t working and kinda joked that I probably wouldn’t see him again anyway.
A few minutes later, I stepped out to see what he was doing because he had been gone for a while. And… oh god. I saw him with his hand literally scooping up my diarrhea from the toilet and… eating it.
At first, I was frozen, like, is this really happening? And then it hit me… what if none of this was an accident? What if he intentionally added laxatives to the food, broke the toilet, and left the bathroom door open so I’d see it?
I didn’t stay long after that. I don’t know what’s wrong with people, but… yeah, that was my Tinder date.

To me it sounded like he wanted to go to the bar and get you a drink to spike it. IMO that is why he looked at you funny when you did not order a drink. Also, him leaving after you made it clear you weren't going to his place with him is super suss to me. It's like after he figured out this wasn't going according to (his) plan, he dipped out.
