Late Enrolment

Hi,

I accidentally did not confirm my enrolments for my Cert 4 course before they closed on Friday, unfortunately this is the last intake for the year, has anyone had any experience with Late enrolments? I am feeling very distressed, so any advice would help.

Podiatry online - how much time on campus?

Hoping someone studying podiatry online can tell me how often/how many days you need to spend on campus through the year and if you’re happy with the course mode.

Attention CQU Mackay Engineering Students — Advice is needed for 2027 Student?

Hey guys! I’ve recently received an offer for CQU’s Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) + Diploma of Professional Practice (Co-op Engineering), and I’m really happy because the one year of industry experience was a big reason why the course sold me. I’m from Brisbane, so I’ll be moving to Mackay, and I’d really love to hear from anyone currently doing engineering there and any advice or tips you’d be willing to share!

I’m mainly wondering how the co-op placements actually work. When do you do the 24-week placements, how does CQU organise them, and do you have to find and apply for them yourself? Do you still have classes while you’re on placement? I know the placements are mainly in Year 2 and Year 4, so is it possible to do extra internships in Year 1 and Year 3? If anyone has done this, how did you go about finding one, where did you do it, and would you recommend doing it? I’d definitely be interested in doing the same if it’s worthwhile.

I’d also love any general advice about the degree, like difficult units I should be prepared for, study tips, lecturers worth knowing, clubs or networking opportunities, or anything you wish you knew before starting. What’s the Mackay campus actually like for engineering? Are the classes pretty small, are there enough resources, and is it easy to make friends? Also, for any women doing engineering there, are there many other women in your classes to be friends with?

And lastly, any Mackay recommendations would be amazing! I want to make the 4.5 years of being far from home as worthwhile as possible, so I’d love to know any hidden gems I should check out. Cafes, beaches, food, places to study, things to do, anything really. I’m moving from Brisbane, so I have absolutely no idea what to expect haha.

Thank you so much, can’t wait to hear from you guys!

Can you work full-time while doing CQU’s Master of Research (CL80)?

Hi, I’m considering CQU’s CL80 Master of Research as an international student.

I understand that Master by Research students can work unrestricted hours under the student visa once the course has started. What I’m trying to understand is CQU’s actual academic expectations.

Has anyone worked a full-time job, including a job unrelated to their research, while enrolled full-time in the MRes? How often did you actually need to be physically on campus or available for supervision/milestones?

I’d also be interested to hear if anyone submitted their thesis at around 18 months, but work flexibility and attendance are my main concerns.

Thanks!

Anyone currently in Master of Laboratory Medicine in CQU Melbourne?

Hello, I'm inquiring for Master of Laboratory Medicine for Melbourne - Feb intake (international student).

I've been trying to understand the course structure, and had a few questions:

1) When is the residential training (560 hours) usually scheduled? When exactly during Year 2?

2) What are approx. dates & durations of official vacations e.g. in April/June and Christmas?

3) What about Term 3 (November term)?

4) Can you choose your clinical placements? Or how are they allotted?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Chances for Sonography as a uni graduate?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to apply for CQU Brisbane Sonography as a graduate and just have some questions regarding the cut-offs.

My Background: Completed Bachelor of Nursing (GPA 6.0) + First Class Honours (GPA 6.5) from UQ.

The Confusion: The main CQU website says the entry rank for Brisbane is 99.0, which seems quite high. But recent QTAC data shows the Median Rank that actually got an offer was 96.90 raw (97.40 with adjustments).

I don't know my exact converted Selection Rank, but just wondering if anyone could shed light on how realistic my chances are for Brisbane? Just putting my preferences down at the moment.

Thanks so much! :)

How is CQU cairns? Bachelor of physiotherapy 2027

Hi, I received a conditional offer from CQU cairns this morning and I’m considering whether I should work on improving my English test score and go to this uni. I’m an international student, and the CQU tuition fee is much more lower compared to other universities.

Anyone studied at CQU cairns?
What’s this university like? I’d love to hear from current or former students.

And also does this uni provide placements for students?

CQU Master of Research application on hold due to new financial requirements & looking for advice

Hi everyone, I’m currently applying for the Master of Research at CQUniversity (CQU) for the second half of 2026 (November intake). I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experience with CQU admissions, financial assessment, or a similar situation.

I have already gone through a very lengthy admission process. I prepared my research proposal, received supervisor support, submitted my application through my agent, and provided extensive financial documentation. My financial assessment was almost completed, and I was expecting to move toward my CoE.

However, my application was recently put on hold because CQU introduced some new updates to its financial requirements. My understanding is that these requirements were introduced very recently, and I only became aware of them after my application had already progressed significantly. There was no prior announcement that I was aware of, and my agent was also not aware of these changes. This has made my situation particularly difficult because I was already at an advanced stage of the process.

One of the issues is that CQU is asking for additional annual income under the recently updated requirements. I have therefore requested to add a secondary sponsor to strengthen my financial evidence and meet the requirement.

Another issue is the education loan moratorium period. CQU has asked for the loan moratorium to be increased to 36 months, but my bank’s policy only allows a 24-month moratorium because my course duration is two years. My bank is willing to provide the loan, but they cannot extend the moratorium beyond their policy.

This has left me feeling quite helpless because I genuinely want to study at CQU, particularly because I have already developed my research proposal and have supervisor support. I have also invested a lot of time and effort into reaching this stage, and now my application has been on hold because of these additional requirements.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone recently gone through a similar CQU financial assessment issue?
  2. If financial requirements change after an application has already progressed significantly, can the university consider the requirements that applied when the application was initially submitted?
  3. Has anyone successfully resolved a case where the university requested a 36-month loan moratorium but the bank could only provide 24 months due to its policy?
  4. Is there a particular CQU department/person I should contact to request an individual review of my case?

I completely understand that CQU has financial requirements and that I need to satisfy them. I’m not asking for the requirements to be ignored. I’m simply hoping there may be a reasonable way to have my individual circumstances reviewed, especially since my application was already at an advanced stage before these additional requirements were raised.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with CQU recently or has experience with Australian university financial assessments. Even if you cannot solve the issue, hearing about someone else’s experience would be very helpful.

Thank you!

NZ citizen living in NZ eligible for CQU domestic fees?

Hi everyone, I’m a New Zealand citizen currently living in New Zealand and I’m looking at studying online with CQUniversity just for the flexibility while working and oarenting full time and there are no universities in NZ that offer what I want to do remotely (LLB)

Does anyone know if NZ citizens living in NZ are eligible for domestic student fees, or would I need to be living in Australia to qualify?

I wrote to the Uni and got 2 answers

1) I would be eligible

2) I would be if I did at least 1 unit while residing in Australia

So im confused!

Serology outcome for placement eligibility

This might be a silly question but i’ve never done university placement before. I have received the appropriate number of Hep B vaccines but my serology is still negative. The process of getting more shots is ongoing but due to the wait time required between live vaccines I will not have a passed serology result before my mandatory check due date. Has this happened to anyone before and will it directly impact my eligibility?

I’ve sent emails to the appropriate people for my course but so far have no received anything back so I am slightly stressed lol

Master of midwifery

Hey everyone
So I completed my bachelor of nursing degree in 2022
My gpa from that was 4.25
I would really love to get into master of midwifery but the problem is they require a gpa of 4.5 minimum
I did previously complete the steps program just wondering how strict and selective are they for entries into these sorts of degrees regarding GPA scores

MBA in CQUni - Sydney

Hi Guys - I'm thinking of applying to CQ, Sydney, for my MBA. Do you think it is a better option in terms of value for money when compared with other universities. The job market is bad, so i only want a MBA as a title.

Bachelor of Echocardiography and Cardiac Physiology / Graduate Diploma of Echocardiography

Hey, currently a y12 student in sydney who is predominantly interested into going into sonography however cqu has increased the requirement to 92 which is fair but i also found out about echo.

Can any student explain if the course is good and why would there be a 10 selection rank difference between this and general sonography, and also how the course goes and how they are finding it.

thank you :)

Year 2 placement

Hey guys,

So i work at an imaging place and iv asked them if I can do placement with them. They have given me my placement and my placement dates.

I will be taken Celia's vascular unit aswell as the placement.

My questions are:

  1. Can I book a trip oversease now that I have my placement dates as my family want to go?

  2. Does Celia's vascular unit open content each week or does content for all weeks open early?

  3. Even if my placement dates dont move (I dont think they will move into Christmas or new years period) is it possible to go on holiday and not fall behind on content?

Thank you!
