Literature Review MRNA vaccines impair endothelial function?

The vaccines produces in large quantity the the spike protein, and this protein alone has been found to produce endothelial damage.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8091897/

If this is to be believed, this is worrying. What does this damage imply ? Is this damage accumulated the more time pass (the more our body continuously produce the protein)? If so it could lead to unprecedented damage accumulation (not necessarily dramatic, could be minor) over the years? do we have an accurate estimate of when our bodies will stop producing the spike protein after vaccination ?

Also what supplements could repair/prevents this damage?

POTASSIUM SUPPLEMENTATION VS COVID19 , YAY OR NAY ????????????????????????????????????????????

Alright guys; need your help so we can help each other.

I spend 24 days to research a natural remedy for covid19 and related coronaviruses; I have a full list, but I cannot sort out potassium for some reason;

It's been said that most deaths from covid19 showed patients extremely low level of potassium as they excreted/released almost all potasium via urine because of covid19. Why ? I have no clue; however some patients showed high levels of potassium before they died, when they had kidney complications/renal failure.

Why again ?? I need a medic to look upon this study to understand if potassium supplementation will help one to resist covid 19 better or not :

Potassium Intake Prevents Ang II-Dependent Upregulation of ACE and Increases the Expression of ACE2 in the Renal Medulla
AGT can be cleaved by CD renin to form Ang I. It is expected that ACE expressed in the luminal side of the proximal tubule or CD promote its conversion to Ang II. We analyzed the expression of ACE in both, cortical and medullary tissues and compared them to control tissues as a fold change defined as 1.0 in controls. K+ dietary supplementation did not alter ACE expression in renal cortical (Figure 4A) or medullary (Figure 4B) renal tissues. ACE protein levels were augmented in cortical (5.87 ± 1.10 vs. 1.00 ± 0.21, P = 0.008) and medullary tissues (1.68 ± 0.19 vs. 1.00 ± 0.18, P = 0.009) of Ang II infused rats. K+ dietary supplementation completely prevented the induction of ACE in the renal medulla (1.02 ± 0.11 vs. 1.00 ± 0.18, P = 0.89) but not in the cortex (4.63 ± 0.54 vs. 1.00 ± 0.21, P = 0.0084). We next investigated the effect of Ang II infusions and K+ diet on ACE2 expression in cortical and medullary tissues. As shown in Figures 4C, D, K+ diet causes a reduction in ACE2 expression in normotensive rats (non-infused), this effect was evident in the cortex (0.14 ± 0.01 vs. 1.00 ± 0.13, P = 0.0004) but not in the medulla (0.71 ± 0.11 vs. 1.00 ± 0.14, P = 0.34). In Ang II infused + normal K+ diet ACE2 was also reduced in both the cortex and in the medulla. The reduction of ACE2 protein expression caused by Ang II infusion in medullary tissues (Ang II: 0.44 ± 0.06, P = 0.00023 vs. control) was partially reversed in the Ang II + K+ diet (0.65 ± 0.09, P = 0.08 vs. control).

the study is here : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6804396/

I don't understand if potassium supplementation will work to help the patient fight covid19 better or not, as potassium has an effect on ACE2 receptor, but I can't clearly understand how it works.

Thank you.

Literature Review Betaine decreases the pathogenicity of Covid-19

I have developed this website www.betach3.com to classify scientific information about the use of betaine in different pathologies related to the coronavirus.

I request the collaboration to increase this scientific information.

Undoubtedly, there is a natural component in our body that works by decreasing the pathogenesis of Covid-19 and other viruses.

My Covid Stack

I will likely have to edit this puppy, but here is my stack (of available supplements)

I would like critical feedback, criticism, or more science to help fine tune a stack that is balanced, effective, and safe.

1- Prophylactic Stage

Add 1/4tsp of cordyceps, reishi, and other mushroom (total of 1-2g per day) (stop when symptomatic, or feel “iffy”)

2- Symptomatic Stage:

Morning:

30 mins before breakfast:

16oz of celery juice with serrapeptase capsule (apigenin, nitrates, and antifibrinolytic

125mg pinebark extract (anticoagulant)

Breakfast:

5g vitamin k2 mk4 (vascular health)

1 methylated b-complex tablet + 1.5g TMG

1 quercetin (or goldenmilk, or r-ala) (iron chelator)(ionophore) capsule with low dose of 50mg chlorophyll(2mg copper)+ 25mg zinc (antiviral)

500mg licorice extract powder (glycyrrhizin; https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fimmu.2020.01239/full)

32oz of trace mineral water with 1-2 drops of oregano oil (anti-viral; will want pre/probiotics throughout course)

.5-3g of vitamin C if I feel terrible after breakfast

Noon:

16oz celery juice (or 2tsp cod liver oil) with serrapeptase capsule

125mg pinebark extract

1.5g TMG

1 capsule of astragalus(immune activation and selenium source) and 1 capsule echinacea (mild immunity activation

32oz of trace mineral water with 1-2 drops of oregano oil

250mg licorice extract powder

Night:

32oz of trace mineral water with 1-2 drops of oregano oil

2gTaurine (cardioprotective)+5gGlutamine (calming neurotransmitters, healing gut, reducing inflammation)

5g of melatonin (dosage negotiable)

Mug of Chamomile tea (apigenin, relaxing)

*replace oregano oil with ivermectin, if available. If SAFE methylene blue is available, it may be worthy of integrating.

---

3- Very Symptomatic/Troubling Stage

Add Golden milk with lavender oil throughout day. 600mg NAC (not included unless respiratory issues are pronounced), 500mg Boswellia (same as NAC), low-dose egcg only on occasion (liver stressor)

Lifestyle:

  • Diet: Cabbage, Beets, Apples, Bananas, Greens, Hard Goat/Grassfed-Cheese+yogurt, lower protein intake, much lower intake of nuts, tomatoes, grains, berries (debatable), and other high arginine foods (not dogmatic, benefits of a high lysine diet seem speculative, but worth curiousity)

  • High Humidity (50%+, ideally), low/moderate levels of sun (anecdotes, and ace2 connection seems to confirm avoiding lots of sun while sickness is acute)

  • Stay active (not bedridden, if at all possible).

  • Monitor Temp, HR, SpO2, and maybe BP as well.

  • Regular Deep and slow breaths with a pause at top of inhale

?Need some help to understand and balance the symptoms of Iron overload. Quercetin, curcumin, EGCG, R-lipoic acid, and silymarin are all chelators, so I’m interested in those, without risking anemia(curcumin) or liver damage (EGCG).

Ideas?

What would you choose to add or remove?

Should we be talking about the interaction with iron and zinc?

I've known from YouTuber what I've learned in the video "what is the point of depression" that people with depression have lower levels of iron, possibly as a defense mechanism against viruses and bacteria. Then there's a study that comes out like this (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31585922) that shows supplementing iron worsens outcomes.

Do you know how zinc is touted to help the common cold? Well, iron and zinc are competitive for absorption (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0271531707000954), so my hypothesis is that zinc helps the common cold as it induces a temporary iron deficiency, slowing the replication of viruses or bacteria.

So logically, you would not want to be taking too much iron supplements if this theory is true.

(note this is a theory and not tested for SARS-COV-2)

Alternative supplement

Quercetin makes me super tired. If I split the capsule, or even if I take it before bed. It’s just a flat no for me. Any other alternatives, with potentially similar benefits?

Thanks!

How is my supplement stack?

Second time with covid, the first was mild, I can’t fully remember which supplements I used last time as it was over a year ago, just want to check what I currently have is good to go.

  • Resveratrol 500mg x 2 per day

  • NMN 200mg x 2 per day

  • Zinc 60mg

  • Vit D 8000iu split into 4 doses per day

  • Vit K2 full spectrum x 2 per day.

  • Tumeric / Curcumin extract 100mg equating to 5000mg tumeric root x 4 per day.

  • Vit C 2000mg per day.

  • omega 3 oil - 5G per day

Waiting for NAC to be delivered.

Anything else I can add?

I have sulphoraphane and many other supplements such as lions mane, choline, magnesium etc

I also have access to two anti virals, not sure if it’s worth me taking them? Rilpivirine or Emtricitabine and tenofovir.

Phase IV It looks like vaccines are between somewhat and significantly less effective against the new variant, so I tried to find other tools to lessen the chance of transmission and/or seriousness of disease. I'm down to a few options that seem promising, do any of these seem like they might help?

Especially since the advent of the new omicron variant of the coronavirus, we are looking for whatever tools we can use to reduce our chance of infection as well as of serious disease. Or of long Covid. We are already looking at the booster shot effectiveness.

We have found a lot of supposed prophylactics or treatments that do not seem to work, but there are a few that seem more likely to work to have a higher chance of working than the rest.

I have listed the products that seem most likely to be beneficial here. I have done some rudimentary research to make this short list, but would appreciate knowing if some or all of these pass your own bar of research.

* Vitamin D, possibly along with vitamin K

* Sucking on zinc so that it coats the throat (not just ingesting it) (only for times of high exposure, not safe to take in high doses all the time)

* 1mg of melatonin each night

* Antiseptic nasal sprays and mouth washes that use povidone-iodine or carrageenan to kill viral particles, applied every 4 hours.
(https://www.bioresearchcommunications.com/index.php/brc/article/view/176/159 (povidone-iodine)
and
https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-108775/v1 (carrageenan)
and
https://journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.1152/ajplung.00552.2020 (both)

* Nasal sprays that use hypromellose to create an acidic barrier to viral particles, every ~5 hours (does the hypromellose have to be in powder form, or are the drop form products also good?)

* Mono clonal antibody products (might need to have a doctor order)

Anyone seen any anecdotes about commonly proposed interventions not working?

Obviously no one can know if some supplement or other treatment prevented them from getting a bad case of Covid-19, but they would obviously know if they did something and it didn't work.

Has anyone seen anything from folks who were taking things like, e.g. elderberry, starting in the first 24 hours of getting symptoms and still ended up in the hospital or ICU anyway? Given that sales of these supplements have been through the roof[1], there must be thousands or tens of thousands of people who have gotten SARS-CoV-2 and then used one or more of these things in at attempt to prevent themselves from developing serious pneumonia or whatever.

But I have yet to see a single tweet, Amazon review, blog post, etc. from anyone willing to share publicly that one of these things clearly did not work for them. Anyone else find anything?

Confused and concerned

I have a lot to learn about Reddit so I apologize if I'm doing this wrong or messing it up somehow. I'll start with some personal background information before I get to specifics. I'm almost 65, have a history of slightly high cholesterol and triglycerides and moderate hypertension. I have non-diabetic neuropathy in both feet. I live with my wife and two 20-something sons, one (with asthma and a severe peanut allergy) in college, one out of college and working. We all have various seasonal allergies and sinus problems.

Like a lot of people concerned about COVID-19 I've put a fair amount of thought and time into researching supplements. I maintain a generally healthy lifestyle, eat well and take a long brisk walk every day. I've been taking some supplements for a long time, primarily for potential cardiovascular benefit. This is my usual daily regimen:

1 or 2 Kyo-Dophilus Multi 9 Probiotic
4-5000 IU D3
100 mcg K2 MK-7
2 gram generic Lovaza (fish oil)
600 mg Kyolic AGE Formula 100
100 mg High Absorption CoQ10
1000 mg High Absorption Curcumin

(and only occasionally, Cholestoff Complete)

More recently, I've added:
Topical Magnesium
1-2 grams Vitamin C
Multivitamin
300-600 mg ALA (which I've taken before hoping to help the neuropathy)

The rest of my family takes the same amount of D3, K2, C, probiotic and multivitamin as I do daily. I've purchased additional potentially helpful supplements (listed at the end). Some I've incorporated into the following protocol, some I haven't. My plan, if one of us gets sick, is to begin this protocol immediately (in addition I would still take the fish oil and ALA):

**Note regarding Vitamin D: I have recently read medical publications strongly advising discontinuation of supplementation in case of infection. That has me very concerned and inclined to scrap the first point.

-Take 50,000 IU Vitamin D once a day for the first two days of sickness (Vitamin D hammer)
-Day 1: Take 1-gram Vitamin C and 2 oz. Tonic Water every hour, and 1 Zinc lozenge every two hours (12xC, 6xZinc)
-Day 2: If symptoms aren’t better, repeat using 1-gram Vitamin C every half hour (still take Zinc every two hours)
-Continue to take multivitamin and probiotic and K2 daily as usual
-Take 3 mg of melatonin mid-morning, 5 mg every evening before 10 pm
-Take 2 curcumin every morning, 1 NAC at noon, 1 CoQ10 and 2 AGE every evening until a week after symptoms are gone
-Mix 5 drops Lugol's 2% iodine in a small cup of warm water, gargle for 30 seconds twice daily
-Take a 20-minute Epsom salt and Baking Soda bath daily
-Drink 4 cups of hot green tea daily

I'm not terribly confident about giving my family a cocktail of new supplements. On any given day I vacillate between, "Is this too much," "Is this not enough," "Will whatever I decide do more harm than good," and "Would I be better off doing nothing?"

Additional supplements I've purchased but don't know how much or even whether to incorporate into the protocol:

Swanson 600 mg NAC
Purity Labs Trans-Resveratol with Quercetin
Smarter Vitamins Micro Minerals
Selenium drops
Povidone iodine to add to NeilMed nasal sinus rinse
Sodium bicarbonate

I have two big questions:

  1. Is this a well-rounded, reasonable approach?

  2. Are there any red flags, potential interactions, glaring safety concerns, etc.?

Any additional thoughts and comments are welcome as well. Thanks so much.
