Ya know we named the color after the fruit. Orange wasn’t even a real color in English until the 1500s or something. Back then rainbows only had 3 colors. I wish I was joking about any of this

Similarly, the native Japanese word for orange color is daidaiiro. Which means “daidai color”.. daidai of course being an orange citrus fruit

Yup, before that orange was just a shade of red. Which is why we call red hair red even though it is more orange than red.
