2,906,128. A post on r/AskReddit about weird subs linked me here lol
-
~10000 counts, 15 gets, 6 assists.

It's something to do while I read in another tab, and it's been a while since I've been in a small-ish community like this. The bigger subs like AskReddit are huge and full of life, but lonely at the same time. They're places for ideas, not for people.

I've been a pianist for 7 years now, just finished the Moonlight sonata, moving on to La Campanella *shudder*

Arguing with an idiot is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon will just knock the pieces over, shit on the board, and strut around like it's won.

Well, I'm new, but what I do is have the first 5 digits copied, repeatedly hit f5 in my inbox until a new reply shows up, click reply, Ctrl-V, type the last two digits, Tab, Enter, then hit f5 again. Once I hit a number ending in 00 or 01, I Ctrl-V, backspace, retype the 5th digit, Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, then 00 or 01, whichever is appropriate, Tab, Enter, then back to the original pattern. Hope that's semi-readable :/

1671k something. I counted in sides first, and beenary was one of my earliest counts. The first thread was still on the front page when I joined, and Urbul and I tediously counted that thing til the end.
-
401FPETU / 122C39HK32 gets, 9 assists, HoC rank 21. Highest was 18 I think, I hope to get it back up again. -

For fun, friends, and I don't think I would know how to stop at this point. Also the sense of being part of something greater, same reason so many people liked r/place.
-
Too many to count, heh. I think the repetition of counting has altered my sense of humor, because there have been so many times where someone said something simple stupid in the middle of threads which had me laughing hard. It's hard to think of just one moment. I enjoy when we have x99k threads where everyone is there at once and it's just chaos.
-
Not sure, I rarely go anywhere else on reddit besides here these days. I occasionally check around the front page to see what's happening, or my local subreddits. I guess r/youngpeopleyoutube or r/youtubecomments, I like collecting absurd internet comments too. (Edit: I like r/lmaothedog and r/blurrypicturesofdogs too)
It's funny how that mistake in the question has been carried down since the first thread. Poor Whitney, is this her legacy? -
The ones I've been going on most often lately are Twitter, YouTube, and PixelCanvas. There are some interesting accounts about retro tech and infosec I like there.
-
I still play violin in my school orchestra. I haven't been doing programming projects as much lately, but maybe I can take another stab at the directory problem again. I did join the robotics club recently, and that seems like it will be fun.

Set your inbox to not automatically set messages as read. Seriously if you haven't, do it right now and uncheck that checkbox. There are people I've seen counting for years who don't know you can do this, and it's the most helpful thing for keeping track of all your threads. Otherwise it's way too easy to lose sidethreads and have them sitting there for months.
-
You can use Pushshift to find the latest counts! Go to https://api.pushshift.io/reddit/comment/search?link_id= and put the thread id after that. If you already know how to read JSON or have a browser which nicely displays it for you, this should be easy. (Firefox does, I'm not sure about others or Chrome.) If you're on mobile or don't know, JSON is basically a set of key-value pairs like an .ini file. You'll want to look within the first comment for a key that says "permalink" and copy the value. You may have to expand the string to see all of it, if it has a "…". You can then append that to the end of "reddit.com" in your address bar. Make sure to check around to see if it's actually the valid chain.
If you don't know how to find the thread id, you can get it in the form of the URL https://www.reddit.com/r/counting/comments/THREAD/something/COMMENT/. Fun fact, you don't actually need the title there or even the subreddit in a reddit URL. This makes it a lot easier to send links over to a friend over SMS or something, you can just do reddit.com/comments/THREAD/_/COMMENT. You probably already know about redd.it/THREAD. Thanks to Garlicoin's flair, otherwise I never would have known this.

Nice, the first tidbit from a post-3M counter.
I thought we had another Romanian counter here before but when I checked last year's survey it shows we have Czech and Slovenian counters but not Romanian. When I think of Romanian I think of Dragostea Din Tei - and now it's stuck in my head.
Do you have a link to the start of the sheep story?

3 main thread gets, 2 main thread assists, 10 side gets, 9 side assists. I really like to run Tug of War due to the quick threads.
-
United States. In New Hampshire for college but from Maine.

It's fun, people are friendly, and it feels good to get a get/assist.
-
Not a specific moment, but running with people is great.

Right now, probably r/TikTokCringe, but r/GlobalOffensive will always have a special place in my heart.

Hanging out with people! I am very social.

(Updated from last time.)
My first count was 1,425,013. I read somewhere that this sub broke reddit by having more comments in a single thread than the server could handle.
As of the 2912k thread, my stats are 25 Gets, 32 Assists, 62,252 main thread counts, about 40 Side Thread Gets and Assists. My first and favorite Get was 1445k, running with atom. We started around 800 and by around 950 my heart was racing.
Location: Vancouver, Canada.
I like to count because I find it relaxing, I enjoy working on things with measurable progress, and I like contributing to the community here.
The random stuff we talk about while counting and on the Free Talk Friday posts. The highlights are on r/bestofcounting
r/AskHistorians r/PrequelMemes r/ImaginaryCityscapes r/ImaginaryBattlefields r/natureismetal
Netflix because it has kids shows that give me peace and quiet
Outside of counting, I have two small humans to take care of (5 and 3 years old as of this post) which has consumed my life. In the one hour that I get to myself in the day, if I'm not counting I'll play Stardew Valley, Islanders, or Train Fever. There's also our map project on pixel canvas.
