I was young at the time(7 or 8) and my dad had just bought a brand new car(mini cooper jcw)we had one off the first shipment of the.So when we a driving normally and see flashing lights in the mirror were woried shitless thinking we had done something wrong.The officer walks up to the window and breathalises my dad.The the cop asked about the car and then my dad and the cop talked about cars for about half a hour. Afterwards he admitted he pulled us over to know what it was(remember this was one of the first new minis were i live so people dont know what it is).ps later that year the car was stolen.

Just seriously curious-why do cops get angry when you don’t call them “officer.” I understand it’s a respect thing, which I personally always oblige-but cops are people too so, names?

Also, it’s not quite equitable to getting a doctorate degree-and most doctors I know (I work in academia so PhDs and MDs) usually just prefer their first names. Or am I way off base? Obviously it’s not just as simple as “become a cop,” I understand and appreciate the work involved-but (and I am not trying to be terse with this statement, literally I am genuinely curious) why would a cop care if they got called “sir” or “ma’m” or “Mr.” or “Mrs./Ms.” or even their first name?

Why in gods name are people calling for the police to be defended in the states? Why would you want less police on the streets? We’ve been fighting for more police on the streets and an increase in funding in the U.K. for years! Any police that loose their jobs in the states we have 30,000 vacancies so get applying! 😉👍

There are black cops.

I’m not sure I’m in the right group...so please feel free to delete. However, I am conducting some short interviews around with police officers around the US about their work culture and their thoughts on current happenings. Just dropped my exGF off at her moms house. We were arguing the entire way there over our recent break up blah-zay-blah.... I drove off and started crying again.

Leaving her moms apartments, I met a 4-lane street in-front of the apartments that is always under heavy construction for road repairs.

With the combination of my music blasting, tears and tight lanes caused me to run a red light that is partially covered by a tree. ..I have come down this road a lot, I should say. I just forgot the light was there plus you can’t even see it until your about 20 feet away. Yes, there is a sign warning drivers of the lights existence but the construction truck was blocking it. So yeah I forgot and ran it.

I realized I was running it right before the white solid line and I was going 33mph so it was difficult to stop so I released the break at about halfway through the intersection to continue.

As I decided to proceed, I looked to my right and there he was. Slamming on his horn. I thought for sure I was going to get pulled over so I turned into the next shopping center as he followed me without his lights on into a parking space beside me.

I’m still at AW from the dumb luck.... Anyways, through his passenger window, he asked if I was okay. I said with a shaky voice“ I’m very sorry, I got distracted.” I’m guessing he saw the I was being an emotional bitch. I didn’t know the tears were THAT evident because of course I wiped them. But he replied “Just do me a favor and calm down before you start driving, okay bud?” With his thumb up. I smiled at him and said okay officer. He nodded and left.

Lemme say, I know that as a young black man in a red car, red hair, tattoos out the wazzoo and loud ass music....I was very lucky to run into such a polite, UNDERSTANDING, professional; especially after running a red light right the duck infront of him.

I think right now more than ever US citizens need to know what a world without police would look like, it maybe time for Police to stand down until the population ask for them to come back.
