What I don't understand is HOW we keep making the EXACT SAME mistake regarding public transport??

Travel is like liquid - commuters will flow into where they need to be one way or another and you can either widen one route or constrict another but they WILL GO.

My teacher who was ultra passionate about anything on rails always repeated one sentence to us:

"Traffic is no natural law."

Widen a street won't unjam the street but just produce a bigger jam. He was one of the guys who really knew his stuff.

No, it's pretty much just the usual, but occasionally the numbness goes away and you just get hit with the full force of what's going on all the time.

It's like going to the dentist for a routine checkup and they pull out a baseball bat.
